Loving the Julia Jacklin album. Thought the Stella Donnelly was a step down from Beware of the Dogs, but maybe that was always going to be the case. Her voice is still just fantastic.
Hoo boy, Conor is going through some shit. Felt like a therapy session that was also an excellent show. Would see again. Did not shout GBR because I didn't want to send him over the edge thinking about Scott Frost, but really I'm just a pussy.
Yeah, incredibly disappointing. The apology is one of those “I deny all of that but also I’m sowwy if you took it that way” shitty statements. The interactions varied from persistent sexting requests/unsolicited dick pics to one that felt like him barging in the door and groping. Power dynamics through fandom is this very tricky imbalance making it hard for the fan to vocalize “no” or for their “no” to be acknowledged and heard. And, suffice it to say, famous individuals need to almost entirely stop getting sexually involved with their fans. Heavily reconsidering going to their show in November and I’m one of the band’s more ardent fans on here.
holy fuck, just the first track on the album but I had to post it it's like if Smashing Pumpkins style 90's alt rock guitar met shoegaze vocals met 70's psych jams if the rest of the album is like this then I am fucking here for it
Arcade Fire refused to cancel their tour, so their opener tonight is donating all merch proceeds to an organization working to stop domestic violence in Ireland.
after reading through the allegations, I think you sum it up right. Lots of power dynamic and coercing through texts. Certainly not the most damning stuff ever, but certainly inappropriate as described. Very messy to work through. Kinda seems like it falls somewhere between the allegations made against Aziz (lower end) and James Franco (higher end) a few years ago.
