Went to a SXSW breakfast showcase this morning. Dermot Kennedy. Don’t know if I’m Late to the party here but this guy was pretty amazing live. Folk acoustic. Has Ben Howard guitar with Marcus Mumford voice. Kinda dark but dude can sing Best solo acoustic set I’ve seen in a while

might just be me waxing nostalgic a little bit, but I am really enjoying the breeders and david byrne albums.

while walking home tonight I stopped inside Great Scott () and bought a couple tickets to shows taking place in a couple months (Bat Fangs & Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever). While in there I was talking to a girl who does sound at a few venues around town she told me I should check out Sloppy Jane... lol after a quick search I think I need to see this girl live very NSFW gallery below http://www.brooklynvegan.com/mourn-played-knitting-factory-with-very-nsfw-sloppy-jane-pics/
Preoccupations - New Material Soccer Mommy - Clean Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy US Girls - In a Poem Unlimited Lucy Dacus - Historian maybe Bat Fangs, No Age, Nap Eyes, Ought and Caroline Rose to round out my top ten through nearly 3 months I need to listen to the new stuff from Yo La Tengo, Mount Eerie, Camp Cope and Nicolas Jaar
Like Hookworms, been listening to that a lot lately but not much has tickled my fancy this year thus far. Also, can we talk about Mount Eerie? I absolutely cannot get into it, too depressing. Someone is dead or dying within 60 seconds of almost any song.
Festival line up today: White Reaper Lord Huron Local Natives The Decemberists The Head and the Heart
I’ll throw in a mention for Sunflower Bean. Not sure if I’d say best but should be in the conversation. I’m not gonna put it in the album discussion but Pale Waves EP is one of my early favorites this year.
Awesome Skipped to go get food downtown Awesome The band that turned me on to Indie stuff and they killed it. Played “Down by the Water” and made my weekend. Eh
I love the Soccer Mommy album. The guitar playing and the vocal melodies are quite appealing. I love how she pronounces "I don't want to be your fucking dog"; she says it all lazy and nonchalant like she's British or something. Great line and great delivery
Julia Holter gonna be releasing a new LP later this year http://www.brooklynvegan.com/julia-...p-in-mexico-covered-leonard-cohen-in-spanish/
Finally listened to the new Mount Eerie. So good but so fucking depressing. One listen and that's it.
Been playing the shit out of the newest S. Carey this week. I'm not sure exactly when it came out, but it was this year at some point. That album is beautiful.
Anyone know anything about Califone? They're opening for the War on Drugs show here in a few weeks. Doesn't look like they've released anything since 2013.
