Went to a SXSW breakfast showcase this morning. Dermot Kennedy. Don’t know if I’m Late to the party here but this guy was pretty amazing live. Folk acoustic. Has Ben Howard guitar with Marcus Mumford voice. Kinda dark but dude can sing

Actually had a chance for a change to listen to new music today. really enjoyed the new Preoccupations, Editors, Titus Andronicus and Decemberists albums.

 

so one of my favorite bands the bees (aka band of bees) havent released anything in about 8 years, but a couple of the guys from the band have a side project of sorts with an album coming out this summer. cant wait

 

while walking home tonight I stopped inside Great Scott () and bought a couple tickets to shows taking place in a couple months (Bat Fangs & Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever). While in there I was talking to a girl who does sound at a few venues around town

she told me I should check out Sloppy Jane... lol after a quick search I think I need to see this girl live

Like Hookworms, been listening to that a lot lately but not much has tickled my fancy this year thus far.

Also, can we talk about Mount Eerie? I absolutely cannot get into it, too depressing. Someone is dead or dying within 60 seconds of almost any song.

Boxer Rebellion is a band I always come back to. I wish they played more shows in the US though.

 

I love the Soccer Mommy album. The guitar playing and the vocal melodies are quite appealing. I love how she pronounces "I don't want to be your fucking dog"; she says it all lazy and nonchalant like she's British or something. Great line and great delivery

Finally listened to the new Mount Eerie. So good but so fucking depressing. One listen and that's it.

 

Yes I like her music and would like to spend some time with her outside the office

 

downloaded the debut LP from Naked Giants. It's called SLUFF and it's pretty awesome

 

Been playing the shit out of the newest S. Carey this week. I'm not sure exactly when it came out, but it was this year at some point. That album is beautiful.

 

It is good. He was in ATL a week or two back.

 

Damn. Would have liked to have seen him.
