I value it very highly because I'm 6'3", fat, and spoiled by work travel. I save my miles specifically for being able to fly in business on vacations.
I save and only spend miles if its for international business/first because I find it to be a better value. I just pay cash for any domestic ticket or economy abroad. I'd probably spend up to 200k miles rt for an international business ticket but usually its in the 140-170 range. If you can get an international business ticket (assuming its lie flat not recliner seats) for 60k id jump all over that.
Moral of the story: rich people who accumulate a lot of miles are fine with spending a lot of them on business or first
Just going through old posts. It's a travesty you haven't posted in here since this post. Get your ass in here and tell us stuff
In almost two years of weekly travel I've been to: 1. Chicago 2. London 3. San Francisco 4. Carbondale, IL 5. Akron, OH 6. Tyler, TX 7. Hendricks, TX 8. Kansas City, MO 9. Louisville, KY 10. Orangeburg, SC 11. Chapel Hill, NC 12. Marshall, MN 13. Pittsburgh, PA Shortly after I joined the company divested a large portion of its overseas business, including its office in Dubai, Mumbai and HK. So I kind of got the shaft on the international travel. I don't think any of those places are particularly mentionable. But if they are I'm happy to provide deets.
Home and back at work after 4 nights in the Bahamas. We went for a destination wedding, so we didn't have a say in the resort and that was pretty disappointing. Stayed at the Sandals Royal Bahamian and while it did have several great aspects, for that price point it left a lot to be desired. This Sandals closed unexpectedly back in August for a month or two and it seemed as though they're still getting back on track with their service because there were a lot of wrong food/drink orders, crashing plates at dinner, small things like that. Also was very unimpressed with basically all the lunch restaurants, however the dinner restaurants were very worthwhile. They have a private island a half mile offshore and a ferry runs back and forth and it was very unpredictable whether it was going to be on schedule or not. Overall, I would bet a good amount there are better resorts for a better price down there. Bahamas was very easy to get to, security was kind of slow leaving Nassau but it was nice and easy going through US Customs down there. Would visit the islands again, wouldn't do it at that Sandals, likely wouldn't go to any of the other Sandals for that matter.
Going to be in Vancouver for 7 days in early April. First 4 days will be for work, but I am flying the gf out for the last 3 days to do our own thing. Other than going up to Whistler, we have nothing on the agenda. What else is a must do?
941Gator Wee Bey Room 15 Planning a San Juan trip for 6-12 people. All couples around 30yo. I read your other recs earlier in the thread. Is Ocean Park a decent location? Looking at Airbnb there. The women want to be close to the beach but I want to be closer to Old Town and bars. Is Uber operating now or are they still fighting with the cab companies?
Trying to make plans for 4th of July and I wrongfully assumed that I have that Monday and Tuesday off, apparently it's just that Tuesday. In a dispute with the boss now that we should have Monday off as well. Was curious on how other people's work treated it. Anyone else not getting that Monday off?
Do they still use Travisa? I always thought it was funny that India of all places outsources their visa processing. When people needed business visas issued or renewed we'd always send one person to Houston to do them in person. They'd drive down the night before, spend all day in the waiting room, and hopefully get processed same day so they could drive home that night. Sometimes an extra night was required.
If you have a beach villa (like badass) then I would say go with that. If you would just be close to the beach then I say Old Town. I think the question is would you rather be able to walk to beach or bars. You can day trip both. In old town FYI you're still on the beach but more of a view setting.
I know I'm a few pages back on this but after 2018 and most likely somewhere between May-Sept of 2018. SPG and Starwood will officially become Marriott and Marriott Rewards. The name Starwood and the SPG program will not be seperate entities any longer and won't exist. The hotel names will still exist, example being Sheraton by Marriott. I can probably answer most questions regarding Marriott, Hilton and Hyatts loyalty programs but I can't tell you shit about IHG if you have any specific questions.
I've yet to fly on a 787 or a350. Is the difference in jetlag noticeable? They're pressurized at like 4-5k ft instead of 8k right?
This is a new one. 5:45 flight. Get a text saying it's now 6:45. Nbd, I'll make dinner at home now. Without notification they "find a new plane" and move it to 6:10. I easily could've missed it
Out of all the things I've seen happen to travelers this scenario almost always results in the most legit mad
I've seen the gate move without notification result in mad but I don't think I've ever had a flight leave early I think I would've bitched a fit
Oh for sure. I'd be fucking pissed. Normally the stuff is just people being impatient babies, but that is full on rage when flights get unexpectedly moved up like 2 hours
Makes sense. Even worse is it would be the only shit situation with southwest that would not be refundable
