For the ppl tbat did both sides....would it much more worth it to just do the Arg side and skip the Brazil side?? I've read the Arg side has more to do. More panoramic, 2 trails and an Island.
Yea, I had a backpack. If you're with your wife and have more luggage I'd probably follow PGP3's advice and just spend a little extra for a taxi. But regardless, I think you'd want to get in that morning and leave the following afternoon to maximize your time in BA/Rio.
I had read that the Arg side is better as well, but I actually liked the Brazil side better. The Brazil side is much less developed with much more sweeping views. You feel more like you're hiking, if that makes sense. The ARg side is very developed and felt almost like a tourist attraction to me. Not to say it's bad, and you get right up to the falls (much closer than Brazil side), but it was a LOT more crowded for me, but it also has a lot more to do--more trails, more activities (can take a boat underneath the Devil's Throat, can do other boat stuff). I'd definitely recommend doing both, though. Brazil side is more panoramic and sweeping views, Arg side gets your right up next to the falls.
Word. Im Trying to talk her into a back pack right now after talked about packing light. Maybe find a pack that's closer to the size of our luggage. Plan on doing laundry in an airbnb or something. Might have to check out REI and spec some sizes. Def not going to be carry on size, but this isn't a simple woman.
Well now this makes it more difficult. Sounds like most ideal is early am flight. See one side. Cross border. See other side next AM with a late PM flight. 2 days toral vs 3
Unfortunately I didn't go to Iguazu so I can't help with logistics. I did have several people in Argentina tell me the Arg side was much more touristy and the Brazilian side a lot more authentic food to offer. That's about all I got. I'll go whenever I do my month in Brazil.
I like staying near the Dizengoff Center in Tel Aviv. Pretty centrally located and lots of good bars and restaurants nearby. Neve Tzedek is another option as it is close to Rothschild Blvd and to Jaffa. I'll give you a more in depth write-up of some bars and restaurants to check out in both cities. Also worth noting that Jerusalem has a light rail (only one line last time I was there) that is pretty good for getting around. Tel Aviv is building a subway/light rail but you're stuck with taxi, bus and sherut (bus/taxi mix, similar to a marshrutka in Russia) for getting around for now. No Uber last I checked, but there is a taxi app called Gett (formerly Get Taxi).
Not nearly as neat at Georgia and Israel but I am making my first ever trip out to Arkansas, specifically Fayetteville next weekend for a wedding. Don't have much time there due to a last minute work trip getting throw into the mix but anyone know anything about the area? Any decent restaurants or bars? Or maybe decent hiking trails in the Ozarks?
One month from today I do a week in Boulder/Denver and then one month from when I get back from that it's Thai time
I'm sure bertwing could give you a tour of all of the spots where he's tried to kill himself in hilarious fashion. Have hiked in Devil's Den and Petit Jean State Parks. Devil's Den is pretty close to Fayetteville and the Fossil Flats Trail is a decent hike. Petit Jean (they pronounce it "petty jeen" like some bumpkins rather than with the French inflection God intended) is the better spot but probably a 2-3 hour drive from Fayetteville. The Ozark National Forest is maybe 1-2 hours away. Mount Sequoyah is decent as well. Have heard decent things about Hobbs State Park but never been.
The main drag of bars in Fayetteville are on Dickson St., which is adjacent to the campus. When I'm back in town, I usually try to eat at Herman's Rib House which is a few miles away.
Been a few years since I was up there, but here's some notables from my experience. Hammontree - grilled cheese sandwich shop Green submarine - great sub sandwiches Slim Chickens - for all your chicken finger hangover needs Flying burrito - best mission burritos in town Doe's - big expensive steaks, but one feeds 2-3 peope. Never went but it's a staple. U.S. Pizza, Damgood pies, and Mojo's - all solid pizza spots, different styles Hugo's - famous burger spot Farrell's - gastropub. Good food, like 50 taps, maybe more. Bars are split in two areas, Dickson and Block Street/downtown. Dickson is more college kids, runs directly into campus. Block is slightly older crowd, hipsters. Or was anyway. Not sure what's what still. Dickson - George's Majestic Lounge - music venue, otherwise a pretty uneventful bar Sideways - good beer selection Honestly I'm blanking on a lot of the stuff. There was a whiskey/bourbon bar back there sort of behind some bars on Dickson where the parking lot for the Legacy building is. Z bar and the one across the street where packed undergrad nightmares. Shotz had like 50 different shots on the wall, get shots in a frozen shot glass and throw it on the floor. Gotta get in and out early before the water builds up on the floor and the Bros start playing beer pong in the front. Block street - Maxine's - hipster craft cocktails There's a smoky dive across the street but don't remember the name. I'm sure there's more but I don't recall. Breweries - Core - in the warehouse district sort of out of the way of everything else. Was probably the best brewery when I was up there Ozark - their double IPA is becoming pretty sought after, I like there regular beers as well, don't remember where it's located There's definitely one or two more I'm forgetting. As for hiking, there's a lot of places all over the Ozarks, not necessarily super close. I did a lot of day loops down in Devil's Den. South of Fayetteville by about 40 minutes though. There is a trail or two around Lake Fayetteville but not very scenic. There's a large trail that runs through town, more of a bike trail but I think it goes quite a ways from Fayetteville up to the Lake and maybe into Springdale. Wish I knew more, have been itching to get back up there but it's been a few years. I would ask bertwing and maybe Hoss Bonaventure as well, think both have been more recently than I have. There may be other #Arkansas Razorbacks posters that live up there or visit more frequently.
I think you did pretty good. If you make your way into Rogers or Bentonville (about 15-20 mins north of Fayetteville) for whatever reason I can really help there. I rarely go to Fayetteville anymore because I'm old and married
Loafin Joe's is alrigh . I prefer Green Submarines subs, but Joe's has like a 6 dollar thin crust pepperoni that are usually hot and ready to go that I used to crush. Totally forgot about Willys, definitely have a fun piano bar and I like their seating arrangement.
Theo's is probably the best nice restaurant in town. I like 21st amendment and Brewskis on Dickson as far as bars go.
I love airlines. Flight to Bogota? $1000 Flight to Catagena with the same layover in Bogota? $500 K. Booked December 23-January 3. "Sorry we're out of economy you'll have to do premium economy for free." K
Need Chicago dinner rec for a large group of like 14 people. Going up next weekend for NC State v Notre Dame game.
Got a group of four as well. Staying in Chicago Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Got a CAF boat tour but otherwise have no plans. What else to do in Chicago? Ages 27-31, like good food and stuff to see

Finally getting around to booking stuff for Ecuador. Gonna spend 3 nights in Quito, take a day trip to Cotopaxi (huge volcano north of the city). Then spend 5 days/4 nights over NYE in Montanita, right on the ocean, in one of these huts: Spoiler Have never surfed before, will probably try. But mainly plan on lounging on the beach the entire time.
I haven't booked a flight w/o corporate travel in years. New rule is we cant use them for non-work flights anymore. What are the best sites to find a domestic trip?
Sign up for Scott's Cheap Flights email list if you're looking to be spontaneous. I love Google Flight's interface for just finding the cheapest flight, although I know all airlines aren't on there.
It depends where you are staying, and if you want to stay central or are willing to go a bit outside. Food recs wise I usually recommend the same places: Buona Forcetta in South Park is great for Italian. Theres a brewery a half block down down since you almost certainly will have to wait. Blind Lady Ale House in Normal Heights is a great place to try a bunch of fantastic beers and good food. Downtown, Lionfish is great for seafood. C level/Island prime is always solid and has a great view of Downtown/the bay.
Spending a few days in La Jolla for a wedding and then another couple days in the Gaslamp area... thanks for the help
Dear Brazil. I live in America. I promise I'm not going to stay illegally. Stop making it so difficult to take all my money. Thx
Seriously I've never jumped through so many hurdles to get a business visa as I did for Brazil. It even says on their website that getting frustrated at their personnel could impede your processing. They must be really pissed about whatever they have to go through to get here because usually visas are about reciprocity
Yeah, my appointment is like 15 days put from my flight. I hope this doesn't get fucked up. Most say it takes 5, so I should have enough time and it's just a tourist visa. But 3mo bank statements seems crazy
Planning a week in Europe in March. Doing 4 nights in Amsterdam but should I devote the last 3 nights to Paris or Belgium?
Listen to this man Also below are my notes on the trip to Paris. Fran Tarkenton made some notes that I quoted on Pg. 217 for this post but I am being slightly lazy and am not sure on which page he posted his comments.
Thinking of extending the trip a day, doing a night in Brussels, a night in Bruges and then two nights in Paris. Doable?
Would rather spend 4 nights in Paris, or 2 in Brussels/2 in Paris. You’ll regret trying to hit 3 cities in 4 days, imo. Even though all are close, that’s a lot of hauling shit to the train station, finding your spot, and getting your bearings, only to up and leave again.
Hmm ok. Wondering, do weneed more than 3 nights in Amsterdam? Also, should we just stay in Brussels and do a day trip to Bruges or not at all? Thinking 3 nights in Amsterdam, 2 in Brussels and 3 in Paris
