Meant that tongue in cheek...She did some list with recommendations a while back and the gf found it and bought most of it. I will say I have been happy with the pillow though so it was a good buy
Costa Rica has blinking green lights before turning yellow. Why don't we? Why are we bad at everything travel?
Booked my flight from US—>Ethiopia last night. Leave Seattle on Thurs, 6/21 at midnight, fly to DC, then non-stop to Addis Ababa, arrive early Saturday. Used about $500 worth of points, still have approx $1,500 left over. Looking at a business class flight back from Cairo.
I think I am going to have to sit down with Arkadin and buy him a beer or two while he explains this whole credit card points game to me like I am a 5 yr old. Maybe over the Christmas holidays while I am back in Charleston with the family.
But seriously anyone itt who isn't on the credit card game and isn't a millionaire and isn't buying a house in the next two years is fucking up. Even if you are one of those two things you still probably should
I'm happy to help whenever. But over Christmas I used a bunch of chase and spg points to go to thailand for a couple of weeks lol
Has anybody done Cairo/Great Pyramids? BP just went back and read your short write-up I assume you can do a whole day tour easily? Would it really take an entire day? All the pyramids and the sphinx are pretty contained in the same area, right? It's looking like I'll arrive in Cairo around midnight, get some rest, wake up and see the sites and fly out at like 6 AM the following morning. Business class flights from Cairo were a hell of a lot cheaper than most everywhere else.
200 southwest gift card for 180 if anyone is buying a flight soon https://slickdeals.net/f/10833891-200-southwest-gift-card-for-180-free-email-delivery-ebay
Having a sale, out of Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Calgary or Edmonton, where's the best place to go for 4 or 5 days? I know Banff is close to Calgary but thats about it.
Vancouver or Montreal. Vancouver has way more badass outdoor shit. Montreal is strip clubs and city stuff
Got a $170 flight round trip deal from Houston to Calgary for a Friday - Tuesday trip in December. Pretty pumped about it since I haven't really left town since September. Fly into Calgary around noon on Friday and figure we'll rent a car and head straight to Banff. Fly out Tuesday at noon. Questions for anyone with general Banff/Calgary knowledge: Airbnbs are cheaper/nicer looking given the late notice in Canmore (~20 min from Banff). Is it worth trying to find a place in Banff? Anybody have any Calgary experiences worth recommending? Was thinking maybe spend that Monday night there so we can have a low key airport trip back, but only if there are places worth seeing/eating/drinking for that Monday night. Buddy isn't much of a skier, so I'm only going to force him into 1 day of skiing (and hope he likes it enough to go for another). Any other winter outdoor activity recs for the area? Have only ever done family ski trips, so just now finding out about Liftopia (which is great for lift ticket/rental combos). Any others to look into? Any other Banff recs are much apreciated. TIA
Dude you have to read Cutting for Stone before you go. Great book, and very much about Ethiopia. I think it's as big of a requirement as reading Shantaram before heading to India. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3591262-cutting-for-stone or if you're like me, and prefer audiobooks. https://www.audible.com/pd/Fiction/Cutting-for-Stone-Audiobook/B002V0K23M
Might do a trip Dec 28-Jan 6. Looks like it’ll be Paris + 1 other city. Any suggestions for somewhere that’s fun during the winter.
Are you trying to fly home from Paris or somewhere else? If somewhere else I'd see which cities have the best flights home and start there
What are you trying to do? I was in Berlin during that time last year and had an absolute blast. Very easy to get to from Paris and probably my favorite city in Europe. Amsterdam and Brussels are also easy train rides.
will definitely check it out. Read Shantaram while I was in India, incredible book. Also went to the famous bar they always drink at while I was in Mumbai, Leopold’s.
Business Class seat booked on Turkish Airlines back from Cairo. 12 hours from IST to Chicago. For free Booked roundtrip US to Africa and came out of pocket under $400. That business class is going to be so clutch. Was also able to do the entire trip really efficiently, no stopover in Europe. Fly non-stop DC to Ethiopia, then the long haul back is non-stop Istanbul to Chicago. Each way is right at 20 hours.
From 2015, but this is tight http://www.cnn.com/travel/article/ethiopia-worlds-best-tourism-destination/index.html
Just booked another trip... Found a flight to Madrid RT from ATL for $368, so I'm heading that way. My cousin is coming with me, and he hasn't been out of the country before. Now it's time to figure out where we're going for those 11 days... Would like to get out of spain if I can figure out an economical way to do so.
Mallaorca from ATL RT was $383 earlier today.... March 14-25.... If you're interested. Almost booked that, but was worried about getting back for the flight back home.
no, it was dinner. I think they do lunch, close, then reopen. Sorry I can’t be more help other then remembering that I loved it.
Scott's Cheap Flights had some insanely cheap flights to Tokyo from Seattle and LA earlier this week, like $400. Want to check it out for a long weekend, but hard to justify a 12 hour flight for 3-4-5 days.
Yea I see a bunch of good stuff from up here, just hard to find time. Thinking I can sneak away for President's Day in mid-February for a while, but would prefer to go somewhere warm.
Room 15 I know you didn't go, but I believe I looked into Montanita, Ecuador on your recommendation. Place looks absolutely nuts, really excited about getting lost down there over NYE. For 5 days I plan on doing absolutely nothing except beach, surf, booze, and illicit materials.
Mark me down as the only person itt to hate Luka's in Hvar and now the first to like Jaco, Costa Rica. It helps that it's quiet but I've had good food, fun times, learned to surf and have only been asked if I wanted drugs twice and both times they were free
What’s funny is that last week when I was in San Jose for work we talked about different areas of the country to visit and even the locals hate Jaco. Glad you liked it though
It makes sense that it's ok when it's empty . He was at one of the best backpacker hostels and it was like 30% capacity. Over new years its a fucking disgusting shit show
I'm at a 100 bed hostel that had 120 people on Saturday and 14 Sunday when I checked in. Went out twice and only saw three hookers. Now it's just a chill little beach town. Until Friday when it turns to shit again
Yea I looked into it last year for NYE because they talked about it being a bad ass party but I could never make the flights work. Definitely want to do there + Galapagos some point soon.
