Some stuff I would add: Zagreb: There was a really cool market right outside of that irish pub. not sure how often they do it, but worth visiting if it's there. Check out Jarun lake as you will be there for the best part of it's season. Zagreb has like the most museums in the world, so if youre into that look up some cool ones besides the museum of broken relationships that i mentioned. Or don't look them up, and just walk around, theres a shit load of them all right next to each other near Tkcalciceva street. split: go to krka and klis
If you're set on doing those dates, this won't do you much good, but last Nov I booked a $400 flight on UA for Feb from Dallas to Auckland (through SFO) that was honored. I think it was a random promo, but if you're flexible, might be worth waiting to see if anything comes up. I would just worry about the price of getting anywhere down there (Auckland, Christchurch, etc.). Intra-NZ travel was pretty reasonable, IMO (maybe ~ $150 from Auckland to Queenstown RT). As for North vs. South Island, I think it depends on what you want to do/see. I did a quick write up in the NZ thread (that I need to expand on) if you want to give it a skim: https://www.the-mainboard.com/index...aland-trip-advice.164368/page-2#post-13127465

Hey all never had an international layover. If I have an hour layover in Iceland on the way to London is that going to be an issue or should I be fine?
Well we are booked. Flying out on my birthday 3/10/19 and returning 3/22/19. Wife suggested that we schedule around the Manchester Derby and she wants to go to Stonehenge, likely on the Spring Solstice because apparently they have a big thing there for that. Started following this thread a while back which got me onto Scott’s Cheap Flights so thanks guys. I’m sure I’ll be in here still as we get closer and start to figure out what we’re going to doing during the trip outside of that We’ve been to Manchester before but not London
Should be fun. The wife wants to do Stonehenge so you will do Stonehenge but prepare to be underwhelmed. Granted I was hungover as shit when I went but it was the single most underwhelming thing I did in England. Seemed much smaller than I thought it would be.
Yeah i didn’t waste any breath talking out of it. Just preparing for how underwhelming it was. That said, I might try and take advantage of the trip by finding something else in the area. I actually enjoyed Oxford quite a bit. We had a full guided tour so I’m not sure how you set that up but I thought it was cool touring that city and the school. The cafeteria at hogwarts movie scenes were filmed there which is kind of cool. Also the town is very old/British in feel so you get a vibe much different from the cities. I’m 5’9 on a good day and we went into a pub built in like 1178 or some shit like that where I was one inch under the ceiling which was neat. Also had insanely good fish and chips.
Back in Addis for my last night in Ethiopia, fly to Cairo tomorrow night. Legit 3rd world country, which obviously permeates every facet of life here, but Ethiopian Airlines would be a top airline in the US. Just first class all-around. Too much to post from my cell phone, but this is the toughest place I’ve ever traveled, but probably the most rewarding. So much amazing hiking, people are incredible, World Cup has been a fucking blast. Seen lots of stuff you cant see anywhere else in the world. Only disappointment was Harar, which was the city I was most looking forward to. Awful place, really aggressive drug addicts, no wifi or service anywhere, 1 decent restaurant/bar in the whole city. Got up close and personal to feed hyenas last night, which was awesome, but cut my time short and came back to Addis a night early. Met some US girls working in the embassy, and they have tomorrow off, so going out with them tonight. Only photos that will upload via mobile, most everything is on my camera. NatGeo is probably going to be calling when I get back Spoiler
In Iceland? We did not. We looked at that option but wife didn’t want to and it wasn’t a big deal to me.
Yeah I have no interest in it so it’ll be hard to underwhelm me but it’s probably about the only thing she cares about on the trip (or at the least, it’s definitely her most important thing) so it was a must see. I’m sure we will do plenty of touristy things, she wants to go see Buckingham Palace. I had it pointed out that the Derby weekend is also FA Cup QF weekend so there’s a good chance that will get bumped which is a huge letdown for me but there’s no way to know until they play round 5 in February so hard to plan around that
If you're doing Stonehenge, book a tour with Pat Shelley. You tour the surrounding area and he tells you about the history most importantly you get to go after hours and walk into the circle not stand a hundred feet away. I got some sweet pics standing right next to a few stones with no one in the photos.
Thanks. Sent her the info. The stuff she was looking at for Spring Equinox was inside the circle as well but there would be a bunch of weirdos in there as well so it doesn’t seem like she’d have the same picture opportunities during that.
Going to Boston for the 4th until Sunday with a buddy. We were going to meet up with this girl/her friends he was talking to who he is no longer talking to, so we are in the market for things to do. Any insight on things to do, bars, restaurants, etc. are much appreciated. Two 26 year old single guys looking to drink/eat our way through Boston essentially.
I still don't understand if that you only eat oysters in months that include the letter R thing is bullshit or not.

Okay, what am I doing wrong here? I searched for CLT to AMS and FCO in multiple sites, and didn’t see anything that cheap. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten these to work.
Pull up Google flights and click around on departure dates and then it will populate a return date with a cheap flight. Then take those days and search on kayak or momondo or whatever. Here's clt to Rome over Thanksgiving at 519
Must be late to the party usually because the $519 return flights on the 5th-8th are gone already. Guess you have to be pretty quick and do some digging.

Just got taken to a backroom and interrogated by Customs about my trip. Had to take them thru my itinerary every day, places I stayed, any military I interacted with, etc. I guess I passed?
In Africa for more than 2 weeks. Every flight on time, fast security lines, security agents that take their job seriously, no hassles. In America for a few hours, extensively questioned by my own border agents, typical TSA indifference thru an absurd security line, flight has been delayed 2 hours with no explanation.
CST, in Chicago. No way in fuck we board by midnight. Said they’ll make a determination at midnight re: flying out or not
