I stayed stayed in Santa Marta then went to tayrona for a couple days. To go beyond what everyone has said, that region is fucking beautiful. Tayrona gets the pub because of the beach, but that entire region is worth a visit of you want to see nature. Tayrona is great for seeing the jungle and the beach. Also, there is literally no cell service so you'll be completely disconnected from the world while you're there (this was a big selling point for me). You have 2 choices for getting to the main beach, boat or a couple hour hike. The hike isn't fun, but manageable. I'm told the boat can be scary as fuck because Colombians dgaf about their passengers having smooth rides. Outside of tayrona, the rest of the region is gorgeous as well. I'd recommend visiting Minca (Casa Elemento) if you have time. The views are worth the trip alone. If you're going to stay a night in Santa Marta, I stayed at the drop bear hostel. Highly recommend that place. Like others have said, it isn't a party hub like cartagena or medellin. But it is an amazing place to relax, see beautiful scenery, and unwind from life's stressors.
is it insane to fly into Phoenix - Sedona - Antelope Canyon /Horseshoe- Zion - Vegas have from Oct 8-15th free
Big fan of typing shit out on my phone in Google translate A drunk German tried to fight me in Berlin at a train station. I literally had no idea what to do
I don’t think so but I can’t speak on Sedona. Antelope Canyon and Horshoe can be done in one day easily and then it’s only a short drive up to the cities outside Zion on the west side. Make sure to go to the Kolob Canyon part of Zion. Most people don’t even realize it exists so it’s always empty. The drive from Zion area to Vegas is easy and you can detour through Valley of the Fire state park which is a really nice drive.
Just finished 11 days in Japan without knowing anything other than Hello, Goodbye, Thanks and numbers 1-3 It's not that hard people. Point at shit and use your phone
I will when I get to a computer Spoiler: Japan is tight. typhoons are not tight. The strongest typhoon in 25 years is so not tight
I started doing some googling after I posted that. Scratch that shit off the list. Everywhere is like $1200. Nope nope nope
Planning a 2-week, anywhere in the world trip with my wife for next May. Will be using Skymiles to book flights, have enough to get about anywhere but also like to get decent redemption value. We have both traveled extensively in Europe. I've also done leisure travel in Chile and Argentina, work travel to China and Thailand, she has not been to SA or Asia. My initial thought was Vietnam and Thailand, but she had some friends who didn't love it which worried her. I don't think she's traveled to a country in that part of the development cycle. She likes Australia, but the size and value for dollar knock it down a rung or two for me. We both like to eat well and prefer nice hotels and resorts, which I'm sure you can do in Australia but not for the same price. I'm now thinking perhaps Bali would be a good compromise. We've also discussed Morocco, but flight costs are similar to Bali or Australia. Any other suggestions?
Bali would be nice as your dollar goes a long way, but I would assume you'd get bored with 2 weeks there unless you're content just sitting at the pool or the beach every day. I'd suggest Japan. Great food, super nice people, plenty of culture, not as expensive as you would think, and you don't have to worry about the things that probably concern her about going to SE asia. If you wanted you would have time to go over to Seoul for a few days too. New Zealand would be another idea, but I'm not sure if you can use skymiles to get there as AA is the only US based carrier that flies there I believe. I'd put NZ above Australia if you are thinking that way.
Just booked a cheap rate for a Wednesday-Sunday trip to Iceland in late October. I'm about to search this thread for any tips, but if any of you have any, feel free to send them my way.
Rent a car but I'd suggest checking average weather/road conditions to determine what kind of car you get. I was there in late spring/summer so a small car was fine for us but depending on where all you're planning on going a 4x4 might be necessary. I'd think that should be a good time for seeing the Northern Lights too. I've got a writeup somewhere itt (not in the OP) and I was there about the same number of days you've got
I know. I'm just saying. I referenced the story earlier but the check in counter at the Cartagena airport is the most difficult conversation I've ever had. Apparently it's a thing as people advise you to show up early because if you're a foreigner and you don't they bump you off the flight. They tried to bump me but not southside (we checked in together at the same counter at the exact same tkme) and after a significant amount of conversation where me, Southside, nor the clerk were able to communicate in the slightest, she got me back on the flight.
That’s like $20 and will probably take like an hour to get it with the way Colombia works. Not worth the hassle.
A 5 second google search tell me there have been a few deaths, though. Still would. That boulder has been there for hundreds of years, it's not moving. Be an athlete
I have a couple free flights on southwest that I want to use to go to the Caribbean. I’ve only been to the Bahamas and Jamaica. Looking at Aruba, Grand Cayman or Turks and Caicos. Thoughts and suggestions?
flew frontier for the first time, man those seats are stiff. Otherwise, uneventful. one month from Madrid/Bilbao
Id do the Turks out of that grouping. I second the BVI. Not sure what your flight options are to there with Southwest.
Yeah I don’t think they do the BVI. Was just looking for an international destination and I did all of Central America last year.
Man, they certainly don't fuck around with Global Entry. Didn't realize you have to go back for an interview to renew. Good thing I have not committed any crimes in the past 4.5 years.
Going in one month These quotes are ridiculous. I'll check Garibaldi Plaza off the list. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mexico...chi-musicians-kill-4-wound-9-in-tourist-area/
the price gouging down on one way tickets to europe is incredible $600~ round trip to where I'm flying to and the other city I'm flying out of $1500 each way booked one way they really want people to book round trips and dump segments don't they
