I'd be all for more airlines going this way if it truly meant you could pay a lower fee for the better seat and skip all the other stuff, but I'm sure this new level will be the same price as before and full service will just cost more.
A couple of the sample routes they cited:
For instance, while there was a roughly 15% ($410) difference in the Dubai-to-Newark example above, that difference went up to about 17% ($544) between Dubai and Los Angeles (LAX).
Seems like for now it's an actual discount but I agree with you that over time it will just mean the other stuff costs more
That's a sizeable difference, but before this announcement, was a regular business ticket the cost of what saver is on that chart, or special? I assume special, which just means a regular business ticket has gone up $4-600
Good points on the London connection, guys, gonna try to edit my flight path or pay extra to avoid this. There's another with a 4 hour layover instead of 3 hours that probably gives me enough time to make it, but may try to avoid the whole situation.
Thought it might be a "common" thing in London, but guess not (have only flown out of Heathrow once).
I feel like they would have pointed out if the regular tickets just got more expensive. They're good about that stuff
New York City (JFK) - $490
WHEN: August through November 2019, including Thanksgiving
Got the notice that Google Trips is going away. I had finally gotten used to it and was enjoying it. Now to find a new system that works for me.
Trip it is cool
This deal is too good to pass up, $598 from NYC to Bangkok and Tokyo. I used one of the 2 for 1 flights when we went to Bolivia/Peru, and it was exactly as advertised -- very legit.
This was linked on the site today too, lmbo.
Pakistan International Airlines passenger opens the emergency exit thinking it was the bathroom
I'm getting on a flight and hear two older women talking about how "no place outside the US really interests me to visit besides maybe England and Ireland but I don't speak Irish"
I tried to have them arrested
A friend of mine is marrying into the Qatar royal family
They started their summer vacation yesterday. They just leave for the whole summer lol
It’s better for the rest of us that people like this exist
Isn't their entire life a vacation
Flight from Atlanta to Medellin on JetBlue today for $290.
As of the time I'm posting this link that was the price anyway... Hope this link works: https://www.skyscanner.com/transpor...nabled=false&inboundaltsenabled=false#results
Upgrading to comfort/first class on existing flights counts for the Amex airline incidental credit right?
I think it does not but I'm not 100% confident in that answer. If I remember right that's part of the reason I chose Southwest over United even though I fly United more
Anything airline related except things coded as gift cards does doesn't it? Like that's kind of the point?
Kind of. I want to be so rich that money isn't a real thing :(
Is it a terrible idea to go to Thailand in the middle of May? I understand that's the beginning of rainy season. Fiancee and I really wanted to do Southeast Asia for our honeymoon but we're planning on getting married next May.
An Uber driver from Bangkok a few weeks back told us to avoid going then. Some light research says it may not be that bad early and depends where you are in the country. Curious what the feeling is here since I know many of you guys have visited.
No it's not a terrible idea
Literally too hot to stay...went to Khasab on the Musandam peninsula (describes as the hottest place on Earth) and it was like 101 in April
Nope. We went late June/early July and the only place we encountered rain was Phuket, but we still had a great time there
I went to Thailand in April and never saw rain
Went in April as well during Song kran. Weather was great and doing kran was insane.
If you put the entire year on a visa ‘1990’ vs ‘90’ will we they not count that ?
No, it's still a great idea. My wife and I went from May 14th to the 27th last year. We had terrible weather in Seoul. The 9 days in Thailand were excellent except for 1 day. Where are you trying to go?
This man apparently met the chicks in his video on the trip.
This is travel so it counts....
Weedlord420 I. Going to Waco Monday and will surf the BSR wave pool.
1. Bid on a premium upgrade for JFK > Madrid this weekend, looks like those are occasionally successful. Did like $50 above the minimum since I figure most people just bid around that mark. Anyone flown Norwegian premium?
2. Anyone have a favorite travel pillow?
I’ve heard Norwegian is pretty low rent in general
Edit - are you on a 787?
Yeah it’s the Dreamliner. It’s a budget airline for sure, but last flight on the Dreamliner to Oslo was the best economy international flight I’ve ever had.
Many of my friends in Vegas regularly flew Norwegian to Europe.
Norwegian is by far the best transatlantic option, pound for pound. Very worried about its future, though. As it turns out, running a thin margin on long haul flights is not as easy as it sounds. Whole market will suffer from the low cost leader going under.
We flew Norwegian from Oakland to Paris in 2016. The only problem which wasn't a problem was that the Oakland to Stockholm flight was delayed several hours, but since the layover was so long it just meant that we didn't have to wait around Stockholm for very long. 787 was smooth and quiet. We flew steerage, so the seats were small and uncomfortable, but that's par for the course. Return flight was worse because after three weeks of not working out and non-premium beds, my back had trouble with the long flight in a small shitty seat. Fortunately, my years working for the studios taught me to sleep anywhere anytime
I’ve flown Norwegian several times, gonna be pretty upset if they go under. Never had a problem.
Didn't answer because I've never flown business class, but they were my favorite budget airline for a long time (until I rode JetBlue that is).
However; Delta pilots run amuck in my hometown, and I've heard sketchy shit, but very vague on the details about specifically Norwegian aircraft. They did not seem to have the same type of problem with Ryan Air -- the only other budget airline I asked about. That said, the source of this information is mostly baby boomer pilots who saw/see budget airlines as a threat to their lively hood.
My take is that I think it's similar to a 30 year Taxi driver saying that Uber just isn't a safe method of transportation, so personally, I'd still fly on Norwegian. Though it's also worth noting the last time I rode them was probably in 2012.
I have a brother in law who is a pilot for American and says the same type of shit about Norwegian. They also frequently catch flack from the legacy airlines for labor practices that have their employees domiciled in low wage jurisdictions so as to avoid US requirements.
This sounds terrible
Those flight attendants are going to fucking hate it
As will the passengers. At least Cebu plans to only use them on short haul routes.
That sounds like a nightmare.
I've always wanted to double the number of people bum rushing the gate completely out of order when getting on and off a plane, personally
That overhead bin experience doh...
I'd imagine for weight reasons with that many people in the cabin they'll be extremely strict on carry on shit too
Luckily its a philippine airplane. I doubt that thing could take off with 460 fat americans on it.
I know Filipinos are shorter, and its a poor country but that's terrible. Their airlines and flight infrastructure are pretty damn bad so people are probably already used to it.
Most of our Bammer posters would have to buy three seats
So I'm really gonna try and edit the OP tonight when I get home guys. I'm almost never on the laptop at home and they blocked TMB at work. I don't think I could do very well trying to edit this from mobile.
Having said that we are looking at 5 all inclusive places for the honeymoon. These are all Viva Wyndham resorts.
2 in Playa del Carman Mexico
1 in Freeport Bahamas
1 in Cabarete DR
1 or 2 in La Romana DR
Any advice? I have to admit the recent news coming from the DR makes us think twice about going there considering all these deaths are happening at the resorts. It's not like the people went to the wrong side of town and got murdered.
Mexico has had the same bootleg alcohol problem for years as well.
