Man is Bairro Alto in Lisbon an awesome area. It's French Quarter esque in terms of restaurants, bars and small alleys/roads that you can walk around and drink in.
anyone been to taiwan thoughts? decent premium economy fares with delta/china air enough to do for 10-11 days?
Heard great things. I’ve only done Taipei in short spells for work. Would love to explore the gorge in the North.
Yes but back when they had the awesome pod seats. Think it’s much more like domestic first class now, but they’re still a great carrier
Got a stoner friend in London currently who really wants to buy some pot. Anyone with experience doing something of that sort in London?
Find a local at a pub, seems like people offer us coke every 20 mins in England at every pub we went to
Had a good time. People were really nice. Played golf at Vale resort and then went to St Faggans one day. Other day went to a winery and on a food tour so got to try some welsh foods and walked around a ton. I really liked the cockles and laverbread. We got really lucky with weather. Was there sat to tues so every day was nice.
Glad you enjoyed. St Fagans is a staple of school trips for kids 5-15, been more times than I can remember! The Vale is really close to my work, nice place. Did you find plenty to do in the bay?
Yeah, it was busier than I expected. Spent some time walking around mermaid quay when we had nothing else going on.
Only got to spend two days and one night in Madrid but seemed like a cool city. I just love the old architecture, plazas and small roads/alleys in Europe. Between my love of soccer and love of old architecture I should just move here.
I'm booking a flight to Berlin from the U.S, which connects through Frankfurt. The flight I want only has a 1 hour layover in Frankfurt. Will that give enough time to get through customs etc. to catch my flight? I've never flown into Germany before.
Absolute worst case scenario you have to catch a 4-5 hour train to Berlin. You'll be fine. Anything planned for Berlin? Great city.
i need to not book flights requiring a positioning flight i get randomly anxious about a flight two months from now making me miss a whole vacation
Having flown into FRA roughly a dozen times I'm surprised they're giving you a connection that tight. Which airline? When landing on a flight from the US one of two scenarios is common: 1) you deplane at a hard stand and are transported by bus to the terminal or 2) you deplane via jetbridge and walk really really far. There's a separate passport control for connecting flights, but you also have to go through a security check again and likely take a train to a different terminal.
Sometimes you get to do both of those things Our connection was super tight and we had to do both of those things but they knew it was tight so they took us all to the front of the lines. There are going to be a shit load of people making that sa e connection imo. They'll handle it
I'm doing Berlin --> Prague --> Munich (for Oktoberfest) with buddies. We still need to plan Berlin. Any suggestions? We'll most likely spend most of our time eating, drinking and trying partying (of the non-rave/club variety), and will likely also check out Artemis or the like and do a little bit of touristy stuff just to check-the-box (that's not really our jam).
90 minutes imo, but assuming you're flying Lufthansa to Berlin they're both Star Alliance members so you could get some assistance like Arkadin mentioned. Or worst case you miss it and there are flights to Berlin nearly every hour so they'll put you on the next one. Final verdict: you're probably ok
I don’t get as concerned with missing flights that are super frequent, which I imagine Frankfurt-Berlin is. You miss one and they should be able to easily put you on the next one or the one after that. It’d be different if it were the other way around i.e tight connection to make your flight back to North America, of which there may only be one a day.
One of my favourite things about getting older is starting to nerd out about airlines, airports and air travel logistics.
Partying in Berlin is big on the rave/club variety because it has some of the best in the world. But certainly not for everyone. There are some really cool older east-German bars from before the wall fell that are super dive-y and have a really cool feel to them. I can't remember the name of any of them, but they're easy to find. Topography of Terror museum, about the rise and fall of Nazi Germany, is a fascinating and sobering experience. But highly recommend. Also the area with the Museum of Art/National History/etc. is really cool, all the museums are right next to each other.

I would but no time in that frame, lots of family coming for state fair being the big culprit if it started one week earlier we'd definitely roll for 5-6 days just for sport in early august
The Pergamon was pretty cool, and we were one of the last people to go through Checkpoint Charlie before it was relocated at a memorial or museum or whatever. Still have two pieces of the Wall that I chipped off and saved while I was chiseling a hole in it
I tried to book a flight to Slovenia last year that had less than an hour in Amsterdam. It was laughably short. There wasn’t anyway I would’ve made it.
How do you know? I've had flights with 45 minutes layovers and made it just fine. If you book Korea and connect through Seoul they're all short as fuck and they always make it
One of the last things the airline wants to do is intentionally schedule layovers that have a bunch of people miss their next flight. That's a nightmare for them
