I don't have info or anything. Just deducing the ineptitude of implementing containment measures by the government and watching what happened in Italy.
I'm fairly certain Seattle will be under complete lockdown soon. But in the past 24 hours we've loaded up on food, beer, and weed. Even got some TP. Ready to go into full quarantine mode. Even ordered a PS4 game for the first time in years. Not to be all doomsday, but with the amount of homelessness here, pretty concerned about looting/riots. I live downtown as well.
I hear you, I live in Cap hill. We are due to be there on Wednesday. I'm worried about getting there and then not having time to get supplies (although we would plan to on the drive but not much room in the car) before it locks down. Wednesday is also far away given how quickly this has been moving. I also have my lease ending in April, so I'm worried about us going back to Houston to our families and getting stuck for months potentially with financial ramifications in the thousands. I just don't know. No one does.
I'm also already very tired of driving but that is me being weak about the bleakness of the crisis here
Have a wedding to go to in May in college station. Flights to Houston are cheap af right now. Holding out hope flights directly to college station drop as well but no luck so far.
I am cancelling mine, at least through April. Or its getting cancelled for me. Still plan on driving to a few places, but seems like air travel is off the table. Did book a flight to Denver today but thats in July.
My sister is getting married on 4/25. Plan on flying to that unless we're in total shutdown. Otherwise, tempting as it is, pass.
Can’t speak to it personally but haven’t heard many folks suggest it’s more than a bouncing off point.
Hope you enjoy it. We are scheduled to fly out next week to Las Catalinas but pretty sure that’s not happening with everything going on right now.
We are waiting 2-3 weeks to decide if we are still doing Vegas April 23-26. Singapore airlines canceled all flights to Frankfurt until June 2nd. My flight is on the 3rd so if that’s still an option I am planning on going to Europe for June with or without the European championship
Still holding out hope that my late April San Diego trip can happen, but getting more bleak by the day.
letan BamaNug and other Chase people: Finally got through after 8 hours and got a travel credit, which I will happily accept considering the alternative
Does anyone have any Belize recs? Southwest flights in June from KC are like 300 RT. I don't expect to be able to actually go, but I'd be insane not to at least look into making the trip for that cost.
Remind me on Monday or Tuesday and I'll give some feedback. Also, search this thread as people have some good advice for me.
Been swamped at work so haven't been able to follow everything as close as I should. Have a trip to Isla Mujeres April 13th with the wife...should I be worried about not being able to make it there and back?
there are belize recs ITT ono Also, $300 is generally available a few times per year, it's not a once in a lifetime price, but for KC it's probably very very low. search for that, san pedro, ambergris keywords.
Colombia apparently shutting down all travel into the country. Guess that answers my question on whether or not I’d have to cancel my trip.
Received this in an email from the US Embassy in Brazil. Guess the early May trip is off. Going to have to fit it in between my wife’s grad school semesters so hope south Brazil isn’t too cold in early August
I booked a flight through Amex using membership reward points. Flight was for the Kentucky derby so I’m canceling it. Any idea how to go about canceling it and getting a refund?
Maybe it’s different with that being tied to an event but in general it seems a lot easier to wait until the flight is cancelled.
I also have another flight on southwest. Seems like a bit of a hassle to get a cash refund? I really don’t want future credit.
I have a flight with SAS April 1 and it’s a hassle right now to get changed or refunded because I booked via one of those cheaper third party sites that appear on SkyScanner :(
Don't call today. Don't call until April. Also, you get future credit on Southwest, you won't get your money back (likely)
63 days before Costa Rica. Also not optimistic. Have already accepted no chance at Puerto Rico later this month.
The GF had a trip planned to Amsterdam for next month as well. Her and her Mom were doing a couple days there then a few days out in the country seeing the tulips. She fought it for a while but has finally accepted that trip ain't happenin'.
I posted this on March 1. At this point, I'm hopeful for the following: -July 4 at Tofino -- guess that's like 50/50. Won't require air travel, but Canada could still have a restriction from WA since we're ground zero -Labor Day - Iceland or Norway, maybe. Up in the air, but this seems to be the most realistic time frame for me personally -Patagonia - over NYE. Gonna do 10-12 days hiking and exploring, then fly somewhere to party on Dec 31
Can't see any way Montreal is going to happen at the beginning of May. Still not at the point of being able to get a waiver for the flight to Asia but I can't see how that happens. I'm tempted to keep planning it (we're going to go eventually) since it's not officially cancelled yet but it makes me depressed every time I try and I know it's almost certainly a waste of time. Not sure about CT. Was going for my sister's wedding on 4/25 but CT has issued a ban on gatherings of 50+ people.
Quite a shocker -- they're unwilling to refund me the money. However, I can just re-schedule. May just have them hold my reservation for a full year, hope to do Afrikaburn and Namibia in 2021. Going to think about it.
I’m in a wedding in late May. I would selfishly love for it to be canceled. I’m supposed to go to a wedding in Orlando next weekend. Feel really bad for the bride. Idk what’s going to happen.
hotels.com seems to be operating off booked hotel policy so that my nonrefundable rate was at a Hilton property i was able to refund that rate. for anyone with non refundable bookings they need to cut. now on to my local hotel company with a non refundable rate
At least I get a few months break from being jealous of all the awesome trips in here. But really feel bad for everyone with big trips planned, especially given how much work goes into figuring out logistics.
Did you book this with cash or points? And how does the travel credit work? Points or just like the $300 travel credit we get each year? Trying to figure out if it’s best to eventually cancel my trip through JetBlue or chase.
