Oh I know I was in Mexico when they went from 72 to 24 hours. It’s just nice to be done with it entirely.

For those with Verizon, what international cell plan/coverage do you have? I want to be able to text while I’m away, and possibly call a couple of times.

Whenever you land you'll get a text to turn on the international plan. It's $10 a day.

If you're fine with only talking to her when near wifi, you can call and text on wifi for free. Just turn off your mobile signal.

I was in Abaco all last week. Really sad seeing all the damage still there from the hurricane. Outside of house rentals, hotels and anything that's a tourist hot spot probably 50% of the building are still pretty damaged and unusable.

Flew out of there a couple times last year. Didn’t seem so bad aside from it being an hour outside the city and security point on the opposite end of the check in desks.

    Never experienced an arrival.

In full candor I didn’t fly into or out of it - friend’s bag got lost for a week and a half, it was finally found and delivered to the lost luggage counter for Lufthansa. Spent way more time in terminal one than anyone should have to for this sort of thing and the service was no buono. It seems like they hadn’t spent a dime on the airport in 40 years. That plus there are some serious weak points from a security/terrorism standpoint in the pre-security area.

Chicago, NYC or Boston if you have never been. All very walkable, northern climate, and great restaurants/points of interest.

If you are looking off the beaten path, check out Pittsburgh. There is a whole avenue of restaurants/bars on Mt. Washington overlooking the city to have dinner/drinks.

    upload_2022-6-14_15-56-43.jpeg

The Carnegie Museum is top notch, as is the Warhol and Frick. Still lots of great Gilded Age architecture in the downtown triangle.

I believe PNC is still the smallest park in MLB. The Brewers are there 7/1-3 and the NY Yankees 7/5-6.

Just did a quick Cayman trip over Memorial Day weekend so I can try to help although was only there a few days.

Beaches are nice and the water was great. We stayed at the Westin and it was a good area with a lot of walkable restaurants, shops, a liquor store (this was helpful).

I missed a stingray city, starfish point and snorkeling tour to sleep in, but my wife had a great time. Said the snorkeling was awesome and the whole tour is only like 3 hours so doesn’t kill the day either.

We did a 1 hour kayak bioluminescence tour at night out near rum point. It was fine but it involved some logistical planning with the water taxis. My wife also can’t kayak to save her life so I just get splashed the whole time in the back.

We didn’t venture around too much but Camana Bay was good area with a bunch of restaurants and bars. Luca was a good Italian place we walked to for dinner.

Friend's wife is a wedding planner and has gone overboard throwing him a 35th birthday party by essentially planning a wedding reception (multiple bars with bartenders, a machine that makes custom fit cowboy hats, other party BS, etc.). Will be a good time to see college buddies and their SOs without having to attend a wedding or a football game.

Party is in Austin the weekend of July 4th. Somehow convinced the wife to rent an RV to split with another couple so that we can stay onsite. Fingers crossed the AC can overcome the heat.

Thanks for the info. We know next to nothing about the area. It says it’s on 7 Mile Beach/Discovery Point/West Bay. We are getting a rental car. She loves to snorkel so I’m sure we will need to book something for that.

Has anyone been to Mexico City during rainy season? Had a trip planned out for next week but the forecast has me wondering if I should bail on it.

I imagine the sun is still hot af even though it's in the 60s and hopefully the rain isn't for the entire day.

Anyone dealing with airlines fucking you right now?

Had a connecting flight from Minneapolis to Calgary get rescheduled, putting me in Calgary after closing time for the rental car place. I’ll likely have to waste a full 12 hours and add a night in a hotel waiting on a car. Is there any chance this flight gets changed again or do I need to scramble to reconfigure the whole front end of this trip?

Always a chance, but if your flights are part of a single itinerary the marketing carrier should make you whole... I'd definitely whine at them about the added hotel cost
