Las Fallas was possibly the best party I've ever been to. I had never heard of it before and happened to be in Spain during the time. It's crazy, you don't sleep. You party until almost sunrise then they start marching bands and setting bombs off at 9 to wake you up to party more. Then at the end, they set everything on fire.
That's it? Will you have more time? The good news about Dublin is that I'm pretty sure Ryan Air is HQ'd there, so you can pretty much go anywhere next.... I could be wrong though.
I've already got some things planned later in the year, so could probably only take a week off work. Not to mention the more research I do on Las Fallas the more it surges ahead. 3 days in Barcelona---3/4 days in Valencia for the festival.
I'll post some videos/photos of it when I get home. It's on a couple hours by bus to either barcelona or madrid. We did 3 nights in each of Barca, Valencia, and Madrid and was plent of time. I do remember pretty much anywhere in town having a minimum 5 night stay during the festival though and we found a place with only 3. Now with airbnb though I'm sure the options are greater.
Looks like only a 1 1/2 hour train ride as well, at least from Madrid. Would be 3 nights in either Barca or Madrid, then the last 3-4 days in Valencia for the festival, which concludes perfectly on a Saturday. Did you do hotel or hostel for the festival?
It was kinda a hostelly hotel. All private rooms but had common area kitchens. It was about a 20-30 minute walk to the center of town, but it was literally the only place I could find that didn't require 5 nights minimum stay. I know theres a few hostels right in the center of town I saw that looked fun, but we didn't want to pay for 5 nights. http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Valenciaflats-Rooms/Valencia/19486 I found the place we stayed. It definitely has new owners and was renovated because before it was all theme rooms but I recognize the kitchen. It looks much nicer now. We were there 2009.
I'm seeing a lot of 3 and 5 night minimums, but also a bunch of articles on which hostels to stay at and where. Airbnb has some incredible spots for dirt cheap, I'd imagine you have to book those months in advance. Assuming I can convince someone to accompany me on this trip, that'd likely be the route we'd go. If I'm by myself I'll do a hostel. How was the sleeping situation? All I've read is that "prepare to get no sleep" and firecrackers and parades bright and early.
Exactly that. There is very little sleeping. there are literally bands marching down the streets with drums and horns early in the morning to wake you up and fireworks going off that sound like you're at war all the time. The farther you get from center it get a bit quieter, but the main idea is every neighborhood has their own party and builds their own giant fallas statue and they set them all on fire the last night. There were rock bands and DJS playing till 4am outside in most of the neighborhoods. I'd consider staying at an airbnb place because there will be plenty of partying, but you'll want a decently comfortable place to lie down to get a little rest at some point. I imagine all the hostels are crazy 24/7.
ive seen a ton of cheap stuff to hawaii come up lately on the deal finder twitters. ill keep an eye out
just checked some of the shit i saw and the latest i could get was january 2016 with july youre going to have to wait until most likely 5ish months out to make a play on the deals
@faredealalert @theflightdeal @airfarewatchdog but the deals usually comes inside like a 3-4 month span. like that january one for hawaii was the farthest out ive seen, the second farthest was like end of october
I pulled the trigger on a GoPro and got the Hero 4 silver. Advice on good accessories? I'm pretty much only going to use it for traveling. Only thing I can really think of is one of those sticks.
Must haves: Extra batteries. Extra memory card. Telescoping selfy stick. Backdoor floater. Also to consider: Clamp mount Head mount Chest mount
I don't know shit about GoPros. Is it best to buy these things straight from GoPro or are there third party sellers that are well respected?

why are most of the listings for Seattle not include A/C on airbnb? Is this normal for airbnb? For Seattle? I am traveling in June so feel like A/C is important. Gin Buckets
Any of you fin fellas know anything about Norway? I have a choice to start in Oslo or Bergen before Yacht Week... Flight there is the same damn price. Another choice is IAD --> Bergen --> Athens -->Oslo -->IAD for the same price. I personally think Bergen > Oslo, but need some more info.
How often do you use the extra memory card? I figured you need an extra one for a week long trip, but fuck, maybe even 3 of them for a 10+ day trip? How many days was Yacht Week? Did you fill up both the memory cards? I also have to stop primarily using the 1080p video and need to use it more for pictures.
I honestly just have it as a fail safe. I carry a 64gb in my phone and one in my GoPro. If one is getting full then I just switch it out but it rarely happens. I used the same card for all of TYW and exclusively film in 1080p at the highest framerate possible
Has anyone flown Aeroflot? Are they budget like Ryanair, or upscale budget like Norwegian? They have some ridiculous rates from NYC-->Madrid.
I dont really have a lot of Oslo knowledge but my buddy lives there so i can ask him about specifics.
Cancun food or fun suggestions? On my way there now and staying until Wednesday. Staying at the Westin Laguna Mar with the best fren. I'm 30 so not looking for the spring break shit show type of experience. We have kiteboarding and deep sea fishing lined up, any other suggestions? Also looking for some local food options. Thanks Bros.
I'm pretty dumb when it comes to memory capacity stuff. With what comes with the GoPro along with the extra 64gb about how many pictures/video time am I looking at?
How about First Hill? As desirable as Capitol Hill? Any "AVOID AT ALL COSTS"? Gin Buckets and TheChatch what do you think of this place/area? They approved me to book... https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5615620
been to oslo, nothing really all that special. Doesn't have the nice architecture of other scandinavian cities, food and drinks are very expensive. Had a buddy who lived there so it was fun but I would definitely opt for Bergen over Oslo.
Like 15000 pictures or 8 hours of 1080p I carry the extra as more of a fail safe if a card gets corrupted, stolen, or lost.
i almost went to mexican jail... so Wee Bey i dont think you should do that also, dont start a fight with a mexican coke dealer. surprisingly, those are two different stories
That's between Cap Hill and downtown, but not in a good way like South Lake Union or the Denny Triangle. You're also on the other side of the interstate which is pretty shitty. I'd try to stick with one of the other neighborhoods if you care about location much. Good news from there is you can Uber closely to SLU/Cap Hill/Downtown, but if you're on vacation I think it's worth it to be in the middle of things you can walk to.
Ok upped the budget a little and looked at belltown. Came across this one which is run by someone who does this professionally it seems. Professional cleaning and all... Fwiw I feel like a needy kid with all the specific room approvals but appreciate the help. Just nervous with using s new service...even with all the positive reviews from people. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3811220
I'm looking into taking an 8-10 day trip to somewhere in Europe and leaning to Italy at the moment. Any of you ever purchased a vacation package to anywhere in Europe? Pros/cons? Just wondering if it would be better to book all of the transportation and hotel accomodations on my own, as well as build my own itinerary, which could take a lot of homework.
