Agreed but it is going to be awesome to see how this pans out. I fucking love John turturro so I am excited to see what happens
Was the cat that she let out the same one that's in the street at the end? Probably nothing but you never fucking know with these shows.
I can't even imagine the feeling one would have after he went back up to her room and turned the light on for the first time.
Big fan of the first episode. A couple things I thought were interesting: Trevor (Bodie) lied about his friend being there and the friend was creepy as fuck Cops described the scene as Gettysburg but he had almost no blood on him The knife was where he left it originally on the coffee table - is it actually the murder weapon? She let the cat out the back door - is that how the killer, assuming it's not him, got in? Anything to her having a motorcycle and the motorcycle rolling up on him right before he was pulled over? Is that her house?
My wife probably said that 80x last night. Reminded me of Tom Segura's bit on the First 48 "Lawyer up, you can't handle that shit. Everybody's like "I'm gonna talk to the cops and straighten this thing out." You're go to do 25 to life, have fun with that man"
I'm thinking the motorcycle rider is an ex or something. I'm going to go back to watch the scene on the river to see what she says to naz again. I remember her saying something to the effect of not being alone tonight. Must've felt as though her life was in danger. Danger!
Thought motorcycle guy just was noticing/staring at the knife on the dash which is why he put it in his pocket.
They mentioned several times about the knife/knife wounds possibly being caused by a serrated blade. I bet the ME comes back with consistent with but inconclusive evidence that it was serrated. When pressed, ME says it most likely was serrated. Naz's knife was not. Also think, if it wasn't Bodey's guy who went in through the unlocked back door, it was a pissed off boyfriend/acquaintance with a key (or it was their house).
yea the motorcycle guy couldn't have just been a coincidence. just like hearse joe wasn't just there for a no-smoking ad.
Hearse Joe is Bodie's friend AND Motorcycle Guy. He has the same shit Hermione had in Harry Potter that allowed her to go back in time and duplicate herself.
I'm kind of hoping that all the random events were how Box builds the case and all the little weird details are the things Turturro uses to get him off.
Bodie also said they were cuddled up or something of that nature which proves that it was consensual at least until they got in the house.
with all the blatant camera stuff, i started to think the buck hanging in her place had a camera inside of it
I'm actually really excited to have Bodie back in my life again. Hopefully he has a pretty dominant role in the series.
When she gets in his cab she's definitely acting like someone is looking for her. Wants to go uptown not stay downtown. Not sure why but the hearse guy doesn't even have the gas pump in the tank when he goes to get in the car. So he was done pumping and just waiting to see who the driver was or just overlooked detail (prob not the show seems detail oriented) Creepy stare guy with Bodie I think recognized her/knows the people looking for her and that was the reason for his look/staring. And why he didn't come back through with Bodie because he went to tell whoever her location /randomthoughts We're gonna solve this guys I can feel it Edit: any NYC guys in here? Is 87th St downtown or uptown? She wanted to get away from DT
Also we'll find out when they do those blood swab tests but he cut his hand when breaking in so it's possible he doesn't have any blood on him at all right? Which actually would seem odd considering she had an open stab wound on her hand while they were fucking
Yeah this is the one thing I don't understand. I would have done none of what he did post finding the body. Like what the fuck are you thinking?
Very first scene of the show displayed that Nas is left-handed and great at math. Thinking the former is far more important than the latter.
Noticed at the end of the credits that this show is based on BBC's Criminal Justice http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1188927/ Might have to check that out after this season ends
subtle beast was the name of the episode. for those who paid attention in sunday school... knew it was familiar Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?
It's mentioned in the first episode that the house is a block away from the park. They keep setting John Tutturo up as not being able to handle this, will be interesting to see how that aspect plays out in the show.
That was pretty unsettling to watch. You almost feel like you are going through the events along with Naz. Also, I think the stepfather is a red herring in this situation
You can feel how the weight of the justice system could come down on you. It really is unsettling. The Harvard shirt stunt is fucked up.
I didn't take it that way at all. If I were the detective, I'd have thought those scratches were so deep and severe that I thought it might have suggested she was struggling and maybe trying to get him off of her. Just a different perspective
I would think he would have scratches on his face if we're talking potential defensive wounds. I think scratches on the back are pretty much the universal sign of a woman intensely into a fuck session.
One of my friends that I was watching this with picked up that the inhaler was laying on the bed. The bed was covered in blood but no blood on the inhaler. Maybe it's nothing, maybe it's not. Turturro was fantastic in this episode.
Not scratches that deep. Again, discussing from the detectives perspective. And he did have a scratch on his face I think when they were doing the swab scene they asked for a swab of it, irrc. Could be wrong about that though.
Everyone see Little Carmine make a cameo as the reporter? Just need Janice from Sopranos to complete the Turturro hat trick.
Also thought it was interesting that the detective removed that from the scene. For someone as by the book as he is, seemed odd. Unless he was simply trying to go the good-cop/bad cop route by giving it back to the kid when he knew he wanted it
I like how it builds suspense but they need to pick up the pace just a little. We're a quarter of the way through the series and we know almost nothing we didn't know in the first half hour. They spent like 15-20% of last episode showing them moving Naz to a different holding facility...
from sepinwals review. this was definitely intentional since they spent time showing the detective pick out the shirt
I think he was trying to play good cop with Naz. Along with the fact that he let Naz's parents speak to him. I don;t think Box actually believes that Naz did this crime. But the evidence is overwhelmingly against him and I could see Box painting whatever picture he wants from this. As far as the prosecution goes, I have a feeling that Naz will be labeled as the silent muslim attacker. He's 23 years old and has limited interactions with females (Andrea was the 2nd person he had ever slept with). Keep in mind, this October/November of 2014. The rise of ISIS is slowly starting to appear in the news and that maybe on some juries minds. I'm sure that Box and his crew will go thru Naz's computer and find something odd.
