They are gonna need to find a way to get the switch battery life above 3 hours for complex games like Zelda.
Their main focus needs to be on making sure the hardware is flawless, the eshop rollout is quick, they get the virtual console running soon, and go back on their bullshit "free VC game for the month then you have to buy it" scheme.
Yea the issue seems to be the battery is limiting the charge when docked (protecting the Li ion by capping it at 85% which seems really low... battery charges fully when not in use) and the left Joycon seems to have a low power Bluetooth at the moment that is causing it to desync. The day 1 update (pushed out today) is allegedly fixing that issue for most users. Just make sure you update each pair of joycons by having them attached to the tablet during a reboot after the firmware update.
system storage is also an issue. like 32 gb, with 7 of it being taken up by the OS. ign said it doesnt run the best in TV mode, but handheld mode is nearly flawless, besides battery life.
I used a Wii U for the first time last weekend, was playing Smash Brothers, it was pretty fun. If I was trying to play BotW right now, I'd probably go with that too, wait to see if Switch makes the necessary upgrades.
Buy a 128 GB SDXC card. That'd give you 150+ and most of the indies are clocking in around 1 GB each. I'll have 25 GB out of the box and am only downloading Snipperclips and Shovel Knight so I'll be sitting on about 22 still.
Yep, this is what I'm getting from the reviews so far. I'll end up waiting a year or two. Zelda looks incredible... but you can't expect people to shell out for a console, in the middle of a generation, for one game only. They should have had a killer lineup for this, or come out with it at the beginning of the console generation.
Get what you're saying, but they do have a pretty good lineup of games coming out. They goofed only having one big game at release tho
This is a better lineup than the shit that Sony and Microsoft trotted out. Your complaint is because they're not mirroring the other's launch windows, which admittedly, Nintendo would've lost. They're going for something off-the-wall and trying to bring in casual gamers while also trying to make this someone's second console or party focal-piece. Nintendo kills with their exclusives and I don't know about y'all, but it's important to me to have a console touting couch co-op again. My fiancé wants to play games with me so bad and is constantly let down by the shit Xbox puts out that has co-op. Recall back to the N64 that it made a killing and its launch lineup was Mario 64 and Pilot Wings. We've got Zelda, Bomberman, Snipperclips, 1-2 Switch, Shovel Knight, Just Dance, Fast RMX, and I Am Setsuna on day 1. That's a little something for everyone. Good enough to get the console into consumers' hands.
Never said it wasn't better than what Microsoft or Sony put out at launch, but the standards are a little different when you aren't releasing at the beginning of the generation. Maybe you're right, though, and they're only really trying to cater to casual gamers still.
But I also think they're trying to avoid what happened with the Wii U, which was that console's downfall. Wii U released only a handful of AAA games and they seemed to all hit together. Then there'd be up to a year without a big release for Nintendo gamers. Zelda is big enough to last several months of its own accord. Mario Kart 8 April 28th. ARMS by the end of June. E3 goes off around this time and Nintendo and Sony have the biggest floor space this year plus N has already booked an auditorium for a presentation. The next big release at that point is Splatoon 2 sometime in the summer(absolutely massive in Asia as they love their tentacles). Show off Mario Odyssey at E3 and some combination of Metroid Prime / Mario Party / Starfox / Smash Bros / Pokemon. 1 of those possibly releases Q3/Q4. Sports titles in the fall(2K and FIFA) should attract some gamers that want to be able to play their careers on the go. Mario Odyssey in November and I'm willing to wager that they do a bundle for $300 for massive holiday sales (repeat success of the Wii). Big E3 sets up 2018. Plus Nintendo gamers are going to fuel the Indies because there's a lot of good ones already announced. Yooka-Laylee (Banjo Kazoiee team), Shovel Knight, Stardew Valley to name a few.
I would be in on a Mario bundle, with Zelda, Mario kart and 2-3 more big ones promised before next summer. What's ARMS stand for?
Nothing, as far as I'm aware. It's a fighting game utilizing the joycons. It looks fairly in depth. Here's hoping for a demo soon.
picking mine up in the morning totally content with just Zelda until Mario Kart 8/virtual console gets rolling
what the fuck they're only reselling for like $425 on ebay would probably just sell it on craigslist for that #
Got one. Game stop had 8. Was in line for 10 minutes. Dude just came out and said here is ticket. Y'all can go home and come back at midnight #blessed
Check your target. They are opening at 8:00 am and probably have at least 8 per location. Prob your best bet this late in the game
Idk my friend has credit card debt and made a move that helps her out. It's not like she sold meth to babies
Idk Canadian money man. It costs more there and the Zelda is the limited edition. 100 of that I think is fees. Idk why still arguing this
Someone in Georgia ordered a Nintendo Switch from Canada for more than they could have ordered from any other place like eBay. Then they paid international shipping too. Seems legit.
Just picked up a Switch at Target. They surprisingly had 36 of them available. I'd be surprised if I play this on the TV at all for the first month or so. This thing may only see the dock to charge (picked up a car charger too).
This is where I'm at, unless I'm doing something over at in laws are parents house. May bring it then
