Got a Switch and Mario Odyssey for xmas. Just started Mario today, lots of fun but I’m not very good yet
Took me a couple hours to get the hang of using the cap to parkour all over the place. Once you get to New Donk City it's a great place to refine your skills
Paid online delayed until the fall, so its likely we won't see a steady stream of classic games till then either.
Wow the Switch is the fastest selling console in the US ever. This is going to be an N64 tier console.
It's my favorite console in many years. The portability is great, and being able to drop it in a dock and kick back on the couch is solid. The indie and 3rd party support is the real reason for some of the success I would think.
just started playing Zelda. love it. it's so open, which is still a bit intimidating and trying to figure out where i should go. played a little mario kart against the gf and that was a blast. bought the odyssey bundle when it was released and we both have enjoyed that as well.
If you grew up with 16bit RPGs on the SNES (Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, etc), you need to get Project Octopath Traveller and Lost Sphere, both of which are 2018 titles. I Am Setsuna is another one that's already out.
I’m so excited for Octopath but damn Square Enix for having no release date on it. That demo has been out for months.
Looking to get a switch mainly for Zelda, Odyssey, and Mario Kart with the wife. What accessories are necessary?
Screen protector first and foremost. I’d go Pro Controller if you’re mostly 2 player gaming. If there’s the possibility of 4 player, it makes more sense to grab a second set of joycons. And a case for travel?
Good to know, I don't typically use screen protectors but if it's one that scuffs easily sounds like it's needed.
The dock itself is a culprit for a lot of people. It would suck to scratch the screen just from doing a basic function. I recommend this one, as it is not even noticeable. amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Nintendo Switch 2017 (2-Pack)
Guessing either a Direct on Fire Emblem or a Smash Bros announcement but the number of non-Nintendo franchises on that thread has me shook.
Looking for some new indie titles to try I have these: Stardew Valley Golf Story Steamworld Dig 2 (I have rocket league and Oxenfree on pc) Any other recommendations?
also, not indie, but Disgaea 5 is worth the buy if you enjoy rpgs with grid based combat. not sure it's worth a full $60 unless you're REALLY into that kind of game (I am, especially disgaea) always thought the series performed best on handheld and the fact that it has outsold it's ps4 counterpart is really good news for 3rd party jrpgs on switch. a persona 5 port would be the tits.
did i follow correctly, did they just announce a ton of games coming to the switch? and a luigi expansion for odyssey?
This is how Nintendo has been for a decade. They are slow and subtle and very very unobservant (or unconcerned with) to the knee-jerk reactions of the internet. Fans hype things up to crazy amounts and Nintendo just says "Oh you wanted a three-tiered cake? But I made a really nice bowl of soup." Direct Mini's are just that: The minor games not worthy of big reveals. The Minis hosted by Kimishima and/or Reggie are the ones that bring out the big guns. I'd bet one is coming in March, based on how many games here were given Jan-Spring release dates.
Yes. A mix of new games and WiiU ports (since no one bought the WiiU, it's easy money). Dark Souls remastered is the big one new Mario Tennis Hyrule Warriors re-release Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze re-release The World Ends With You remake The Mario Odyssey is not a "Luigi add-on" though. He's an NPC in it. It's like a hide and seek game you play with other people online. It's classic Nintendo: A good idea in a vacuum that fans are already angry about because it's not what they wanted.
Wonder if fifa/2k were successful enough to get new games in the fall. I'd love a baseball game but nintendo wouls have to make it themselves and i dont see that happening
Baseball doesn’t need elite graphics to be fun. Shit, I’d love a backyard baseball reboot on the switch.
No, it doesnt. But if its mlb licensed it has to be made by nintendo I'd take some kind of baseball with nintendo characters...like mario golf or tennis.
