Bought a switch and Mario odyssey yesterday I haven’t owned a video game system since n64. I don’t even know where to begin with this thing

Mario and Zelda are main two switch games I want to play to start. Bewildered by the possibilities of virtual console. So many games I’ve missed over the years...anything I should go back to play? I did borrow a wii and play Mario Galaxy at least
Look into Nintendo Switch Online if you want to have some solid nostalgia between playing the other games. It comes with a decent-enough library of NES and SNES games.
Got Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and I haven’t played a second of it, b/c my 6 y/o son is obsessed with it.
anyone got the scoop on Nintendo Store Black Friday sales? I’d like to pick up Luigis Mansion 3 on the cheap
How many times do I need to pimp this website? Go on dekudeals.com and flag the games you want to know about price drops for. https://www.dekudeals.com/items/luigis-mansion-3 This shows it’s $39.99 digital at Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Amazon, which is the all-time low price.
Mario Odyssey is like insanely fun. The way you can do special hat throws by shaking the remotes. The way you can inhabit all these different creatures (just found the fire throwing hammer brother last night). This generation of games kicks ass
Enjoy it, truly a celebration of the franchise there’s a moment in the game near the end of one of the worlds where I was grinning from ear to ear
Spoiler been a long while since i played, looked it up again, you're talking about the old 8 bit donkey kong sequence? that was very awesome.
Any standout deals? I might just get Pga2k21 just to have a good sim golf game to carry around. Really bummed I don't play as much without all of my typical business travel.
Everybody seems to love the pro controller but the joycons used separately is by far my favorite controller ever
I wake and baked for the first time in 10 years and was expecting reviews on the new Zelda itt. Consider me upset you jabronis
love the pro for traditional gaming, but the joy cons are great for the right game. Still think the wii controls were better than joy con though
Of all the gaming companies, Nintendo is absolutely the fucking worst when it comes to how they treat their consumers. I've had my switch for a year and still haven't bought Mario odyssey or Zelda. Just out of principle, I'm not paying full price for multi-year old games. Makes no damn sense.
Huh? Nintendo more than any other company develops their software and hardware to get the best out of both. Plus demand for 1st party Nintendo games is a constant especially as more people buy new consoles. Just see how many they've sold in the past 6 months and tell them they shouldn't charge full price for their flagship software which are well worth their price tag. Thinking BOTW should follow the same pricing flow as Madden or something is bizarre In other words the Mario/Zelda games are the reason to buy a switch just like most any other N consoles.
I've considered this until I remember a couple of fights I really hated and don't want to revisit. Lol
Yeah, I had to take some short breaks along the way. Im also playing through Final Fantasy IX so being able to take some breaks from BotW now and then helped when it started to get tedious hunting seeds and the like.
Has anyone played friends of mineral town? Looks like an upgraded version of Stardew. Want something new that I can play for a few before bed and chillax to sleep
So the reasons to buy a Sony or Microsoft console aren't the exact same? All three have their flagships, but Nintendo is the only one greedy enough to never have those flagships on sale. Don't support shitty business practice just because they're forcing you. We're talking about the same company who is now starting to do limited digital releases solely for the purpose of creating false scarcity. It's okay to love their products (I do) while also acknowledging the fact that they are absolutely horrendous when it comes to their consumers.
I don't agree with anything you are saying. Upholding the value of their products and not just decreasing the price arbitrarily is not being horrendous. That's what normal products in normal retail do for products whose value doesn't go down. You just have this entitled expectation that all games have to follow the same pricing structure that Nintendo simply doesn't fall into. And no...the exclusives on Sony and Microsoft are not nearly the same as the owned IP by Nintendo that drive so much of the success of their hardware where they are literally designed for each other. The relationship of Zelda/Mario to Nintendo is like what? 30 years running and not nearly the same relationship as some exclusives for the other consoles. Halo is maybe the only thing that comes close (and Kratos on the Sony side I guess) and even then it's just not the lifestyle brand that Nintendo benefits from. God of War and Halo and whatever else simply dont hold the same value long term as a top-tier Zelda game. Hell...top Mario games are still full priced for N64 if you can find them.
if there are people still willing to buy them at full price, why would they put them on sale? It’s not a matter of them being shitty to their consumers, it’s them being a business if we are going to call out companies for being shifty to their consumers then let’s start with EA who release full priced games every year that are basically just roster updates
Got the Mario Cart $299 package on black Friday. Should be delivered by the end of the week. Not real sure how I'm not supposed to open this until my kid gets it on Christmas...
