Just got breath of the wild. Learning curve on controls is steep. So many buttons! When I have this down it’s gonna be Link like never before though
Also I was not prepared for the level of realism. I jumped off something high and DIED? Just straight up fatality?
thinking about getting hades. i never play roguelites or anything, and i'm not sure i'll enjoy that style, but i do love me some diablo-esque games and this seems at least similar enough. sale price is same on pc and switch, and i think i know the answer this thread will give but would you say its definitely worth it to purchase on switch vs. pc? portability obviously is a plus, but control-wise would this be much better on joycons/handheld mode vs. mouse and keyboard? and sounds like the graphics are good enough without many framerate issues on switch? i just bought a new high end pc which is why i'm debating this so much.
It’s a Supergiant game, they don’t make games that need high end graphics. Only advantage to PC will be getting patches/ updates before Switch.
A new update to stardew valley just came out for PC. It will probably take a month to port to the switch but it looks like it has a bunch of new content
Had my accounted hacked, and this guy from Singapore was able to ‘switch’ my account to his console, meaning that I lost access to the digital games on my console, until I could get Nintendo to deactivate his account and re-verify my Switch as the primary console on my account. That’s one hell of a run-on sentence, and it was one hell of a ride. The guy abducted my account on Christmas Eve at around 11:40. Luckily, I wanted to play Mario Kart after finishing wrapping the kids’ gifts, at around 11:50. He didn’t have control of my account long enough to do anything too crazy. I signed out of all accounts immediately, unattached my credit cards and PayPal from the account, and changed my account password, all before midnight. Unfortunately, Nintendo customer service was out for the holiday, so I couldn’t rectify anything until this morning. Nintendo’s customer service is top notch, though. The girl who helped me, was able to deactivate my account on the Singapore guy’s Switch, and help get my account back onto my Switch quickly (just needed my personal info and my Switch’s product ID #). Glad that shit is behind me...hopefully, for good.
Bought my sister a switch for Christmas. Fell in love and bought one for myself. What controller do I need to get? Also do you guys use headsets?
The pro controller is almost a must buy for the meatier titles in the lineup (BOTW especially). It’s got tremendous battery life and charges easily, so it’s well worth the effort. I just use standard Apple headphones when handheld, as you need a specific dongle to use Bluetooth headphones unless you have a Smart TV.
got a switch lite for xmas and love it. mostly been playing old nes and snes games thus far and schooling my children on the classics. as far as new games, anything outside the 'big' titles worth checking out?
This is on sale for $39.99 in the digital store right now. I haven't had a chance to play it as much as I'd like, but it's been really fun so far - especially if you're looking to scratch the BotW itch. Very similar (or blatant ripoff?) in a lot of ways (open world, loads of puzzles, vaults/shrines, same sort of stamina, flying, etc.) with cheesy humor about Greek gods that somehow works pretty well.
In the past I've never been a fan of rogue likes/lites...games where you start over after death. Is Hades in the same style as games like Binding of Issac, Risk of Rain, Dungeons of the Endless?
same, i dont really play them at all and not a fan of the idea.. but hades is like diablo adventure mode mixed with a roguelite i guess. you do die and start over but the chambers are varied each time, as are the enemies, the bosses learn new moves to combat you each time, and theres a ton of dialogue changes, new things unlocked, more story unfolding as you die each time, etc. that it keeps it very fresh and replayable. plus you're always building up your character on each death so it never is really like the same thing twice.
Yeah the big thing that sets it apart from a lot of others in the genre is the amount of things you can improve after each run (weapons, stats, etc). It's not your typical rogue like/lite experience. Music, voice acting, combat, and story are all phenomenal, too. Got real into it a few months ago and watched a good documentary series from Noclip about the development.
definitely a lot more RPG than most of those games i believe. and the randomness and constant new things each time you die make it far from repetitive. i love diablo and like this a lot, its different enough but feels similar so i'd recommend it for sure if you like that game.
Any of you ply Mario Rabbids? It’s a fun game with a little strategy. It’s a lot like a game I used to have on PSP. Kinda like Valkyria Chronicles on PlayStation. I can’t wait for a new one of that game to come out. It actually took strategy.
I hated those things before I figured out how to kill them Spoiler basically hide behind a tree and hit them in the eye to stun them then pray I do enough damage before they wake up and kill me
Ok played Hades for the first time last night as well and yeah it's great. It's also perfect for Switch with the quick, resetting escape attempts. Voice acting has made me legit laugh too. Love how the home changes and doesn't feel repetitive at all. And I can't be the only one who pets the dog every time through.
I have it on PC and I’m not a traditionally PC gamer so it took a bit to adjust to the controls but it’s awesome
skelly told me not to give more than one gift typically because you usually just get an item from the first gift given and not anymore. is that true? is there a point to give cerberus and others more than 1 gift?
Breath of the Wild is too damn hard tbh. I keep getting slayed by enemies in the overworld before I get a chance to do much. Beat a few shrines but having trouble really getting into it. Weapons keep breaking.
How. I found a big silver sword in a shrine but it broke quick as hell too. Online tips say just use a cheap ax or hammer to fight and save cool weapons, which is kinda depressing
Also I feel like arrows should take off more. I get all stealth and try to murk a lizard -- my arrow takes off 1/20th of his life, he kills me with a big sword in one hit
The game is generous with weapons. There are only a small number that are rare and should be taken care of. The rest you can use at your own leisure. Just select the weakest one and use it till it breaks, then move on to the next. If a weapon is about to break, throw it at a baddie for double damage. A good arrow to the head will make most enemies drop their weapon too. Steal it and use it; early on the enemies usually have better weapons than you. There are several ways to kill an enemy, but also don't be afraid to just loot whatever treasure they may be guarding and run away like a coward, dropping and detonating bombs behind you as you run. If you must attack with limited weaponry, wait till nightfall, then use the sneak/sneak attack feature to kill them while they're sleeping. Learn to ping guards on towers with an arrow to the head, too. If you get in a tight spot, don't be afraid to just warp to a tower and go somewhere else. Early on, collect every monster part and gemstone you can then sell it to the shopkeepers for both regular and bomb arrows. That'll offset any melee weapon disadvantage you may have. Just don't waste a bomb arrow in the rain. Later, keep the monster parts and stones and give them to the great fairies to upgrade your outfits. The great thing about BOTW is the game is very generous with everything you need and big enough that you can kill hours on end just wandering the map, slowly upgrading your stats along the way without ever really tackling the main storyline. Turn off the map and just roam.
I got frustrated and started a new file on Link to the Past just to have something relaxing and familiar
