Can't you just change your date, buy turnips and then go to a friends island and sell them? Back when this came out, I played it some on my wife's and my friend had like everything in the game a few days in. His island was completely built, etc. I realized that he was just changing the time. Not sure if they fixed that or not.

I saw something about changing time, but I have no idea how to visit islands or do I know anyone else who plays the game. I ended up with 1,700,000 bells in turnips, hopefully my boys are buy in’ high this week ha

It really is amazing how often Nintendo is able to adapt and develop new 3D platforming games that are unlike what came before.

64/Sunshine/Odyssey are pure sandbox/prize games, where the object is to do a task to win a prize (star, sun, moon).
Galaxy 1-2 took the 64 format and tweaked it into something new, a little more linear, a lot more of a puzzle aspect, with the same prize at the end as the goal
3D Land/World went even more linear, and basically translated the idea of a 2D mario level into the third dimension

Now Bowser's Fury combines the best of Odyssey and 3D World, while adding the wrinkle of a single seamless world.

In twenty+ years SEGA hasn't been able to make a fully functional 3D Sonic game that retained the spirit of the 2D games, despite trying several different ideas. Nintendo has not only done with Mario, they've done it multiple times and in multiple ways.

I was thinking that exact same thing basically. I wasn't aware of 3D World til now, but watching the video it was so cool to see how it was yet another set of moves, gameplay, etc. They could easily get lazy and just reuse the cap capture system or something over and over, but they are good about starting from scratch. The difference from original Mario to Mario 2 definitely foreshadowed this

Well The real Mario 2 is actually The lost levels and Mario 2 is actually a Japanese game that was made called Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic that was reskinned. Nintendo thought the real Mario 2 would be too hard for Americans. That’s is now what we know as the lost levels. However the Mario 2 as Americans know it did add some new things that lasted in future Mario’s. Luigi jumps higher, Princess float jump, etc.

They’ve copied the controls for split joycons but are also offering the option to map sword motions to the right stick. Sounds intuitive for those not wanting to do the motions but how the hell do you control the camera in this game then?

for me, just looking at the major releases:

    10/10
    Majora's Mask
    - Great combination of story, gameplay, and memorable moments

Ocarina of Time - timeless and classic; the quintessential 3D Zelda experience

Breath of the Wild - A perfect "new iteration" and the first big leap forward since OOT moved the series to 3D

    9/10
    A Link to the Past
    - timeless and classic; the quintessential 2D Zelda experience

Wind Waker - great story and gameplay, though a bit light on content (needed a few more dungeons) and was too easy, cell-shaded look and animations are incredible. Biggest thing holding it back is that it's just an unfinished game. One dungeon was cut entirely, leading to a moment where an NPC just hands you the trophy, two more dungeons were cut down to mini-dungeons because they ran out of time, and the triforce piece fetch quest is a disaster on the Gamecube (was remedied on the HD port at least). That said, the game just oozes so much charm and is so much fun to play, it's hard not to love it.

A Link Between Worlds - felt like the Majora's Mask for A Link to the Past; tons of fun but a bit too short

Link's Awakening - tons of fun and full of memorable moments, but way too short; would love to play the remake on a Switch Pro or something that can eliminate the stutter/slowdown

    8/10
    The Minish Cap
    - fun but too easy and lacked a lot of the depth I want in my Zelda games

    Twilight Princess
    - Beloved by many but for me it was way too padded with boring features that stretched the playtime needlessly; took multiple hours before I felt like I was actually playing the game. Too hand-holdy, too easy, and the "realistic graphics" that everyone wanted, after "Toon Link" was so hated, just turned out to be drab and dull looking. Give me the Disney Animated style over the ugly brown and tan shanty town Kakariko Village any day of the week. More than anything it's the tiredness of the gameplay that gets me. It's basically the same Zelda game I've been playing since Ocarina of Time. It's got some great bosses and I love the final boss(es), but this was the game that proved to me how tired and stale the OOT formula had become

Oracle of Seasons/Ages - Solid but most of my problems here are the same as with Minish Cap. The games are too short, and too easy, and there's just not much to do beyond the main quest

    7/10
    The Legend of Zelda
    - the first game has a lot going for it, but it's also very unrefined with how it handles its secrets; enemies and difficulty curve is really unbalanced too

    6/10
    Skyward Sword
    - Broken mechanics and unfun to play. It comes down to that for me. If a game is not fun to play, it's hard to rate it highly. I like a lot of the level ideas, the story is good (though Fi is annoying and I had no emotional connection with her, so the ending did nothing fo r me) and while I appreciate the attempt to try some new things, like the stamina meter and weapon upgrades, everything feels half-baked and the overall product is hindered by the reliance on the OOT formula. Twilight Princess killed that template for Zelda games, Skyward Sword buried it. Breath of the Wild revived the series for me with a brand new style that I hope is the new normal going forward for 20 years.

Spirit Tracks - Hindered by ugly graphics and cumbersome controls, but the train and the storyline are clever ideas; everything's just a bit too gimmicky for me

Phantom Hourglass - Hindered by ugly graphics and cumbersome controls. The "return to this temple over and over" mechanic didn't work for me, either

The Adventure of Link - It's the most "average NES-era game" that Nintendo ever made for the NES. Everything about it feels like a "good not great" third party NES title, with oddball decisions that don't work, game mechanics that needed a few more months of playtesting to fine tune, and frustrating level design that relies on the "kill the player to make the game last longer" arcade mentality that was common with games back then. A lot of people today are nostalgic for this game for the same reasons they were for Mario Sunshine: Because they didn't play it growing up and don't realize how broken the game is. There's a reason Nintendo never went back to this style of Zelda game. They never even returned to this style for any other game, for that matter. The game was flawed and they wisely went back to the first game as inspiration for A Link to the Past, then translated that to 3D for OOT.

Only thing that knocked Majora’a Mask down for me was how actually obtaining the Fierce Deity’s mask sorta ruined the final boss battle. The all three versions of Majora are a cake walk with it and you can win in under a minute.

I think I read where the developers said that was intentional, and it was more of the "story ending" for the game. Kind of a reward for 100%ing it, as opposed to getting only some of the masks and having a more traditional "game ending" boss fight afterward. Getting the Fierce Deity mask should make you unstoppable, after all.

Game's a ton of fun, no doubt, but it just feels rushed and incomplete, especially the Gamecube version

Can't argue with the story and the aesthetic though. Other than BOTW and maybe Majoras Mask, it's got the best look and feel
