In fairness, I have a 2 y/o boy who monopolizes the TV, so I plan on playing when he watches his shows. I also am in my car a lot for work, so if I'm sitting somewhere for a while, then I might as well be playing a badass game.
I'll be a faggot that will be doing this to hit the 4k limit on my CSR. In my defense, stock is plentiful around here so I don't think it will fuck with anyone that truly wants one for playing.
i wish i traveled by bus or train, as i really have no need for handheld gaming (even tho i own a Vita)
I bought 4 amiibos. Don't know why. I've never used them or had one before. I'll be a TV player with the wife. She wants to play too. Will be her first game.
Just picked up all my stuff. Amazingly Best Buy had like 8 consoles still, bought one to send to my brother since he can't find any locally.
Walked into Best Buy at lunch and there were 100+ nerds waiting to buy this thing, some of which had been waiting outside since 5 AM. I picked one up for my girlfriend's birthday present.
That's how it was before Microsoft came in to the scene. But I admit I've played so much XBO lately it's taken me a while to remember old habits.
Sony has followed suit. Most games use the bottom button as confirm and the right button as cancel. I know, I've played Nintendo games since I was a kid. It's just that Nintendo games don't get played nearly as much so my muscle memory is hard to overcome.
Really want to play this Zelda game. Hopefully they'll have good stock of the switch in a couple weeks when I'll have more time to play
They should. Next shipments expected to be on shelves the weekend after next. But I bet you can find one depending on where you live. I'm within half an hour from several Wal marts, targets, best buys etc. Between them there's about a dozen or so to find I think
When are we expecting these to be available online again? I am very lazy and refuse to go out to a store to pick this up. I am also obviously not in a rush but I do want Zelda.
I've seen stuff pop up on twitter about websites having some. Outside of that I'd imagine in a few weeks when the stores get them there will be some online.
idk, but i realllllly want one plus zelda. ive got Horizon to beat then ME:A to play in late march, yet i still really want a switch with zelda, lol.
desyncing or not responsive left joy con occasionally have moved it away from other electronics, might move it again but the controller should not be this sensitive to interference or not having line of sight
damn. i haven't used mine much yet. just for about 30 minutes testing shovel knight. here's what someone on reddit did. I had a weird problem where the left JoyCon was synced with the device, and was functional in the Switch menus, but the device didn't detect the JoyCon being attached to the console. It just thought the controller was being held separate from the device (yet charging). This is a problem because when you tell the Switch how your controllers are setup (by pressing shoulder buttons of the two), it won't set them up with one on the device and one off. And it tells games that setup, so Shovel Knight wasn't detecting any input unless I detached both controllers and set it up that way (or used a different left JoyCon attached to the console, I have two pair). Anyways, fully rebooting the Switch didn't fix the problem, but rebooting the JoyCon did. What I eventually did, was detach the problem JoyCon, press the Sync button on its side to turn it off, then (with it off), slide it back onto the Switch. It was immediately detected as being on the Switch.
so do you guys have it hooked up to the TV or just use it as portable/kickstand? I've seen some tweets from people who basically love the whole kickstand thing and may barely bother with the TV.
i really enjoy just chilling with it on the couch while watching something on my TV, especially until the controller gets fixed only really valid for single player tho
I've been about half and half. Kickstand tabletop mode isn't the best thing to do at home but I haven't taken it anywhere yet. I really like handheld mode.
i use mine on the tv pretty much exclusively. i can't imagine going anywhere except the airport and needing to take it with me.
Nintendo put out a very amusing list of fixes for the JoyCon problem. And not amusing in a good way, IYAM. Ensure that the Nintendo Switch console is placed to minimize interference with the Joy-Con. It is best if the Nintendo Switch console is placed out in the open and that it is not: Behind a TV Near an aquarium Placed in or under a metal object Pressed against a large amount of wires and cords Within three to four feet of another wireless device, such as a wireless speaker or a wireless access point. Check for possible sources of interference and turn them off. Interference can be caused by devices, such as: Laptops, tablets, etc. Wireless headsets Wireless printers Microwaves Wireless speakers Cordless phones USB 3.0-compatible devices such as hard drives, thumb drives, LAN adapters, etc. In most cases it will be enough to move these devices three to four feet away from the Nintendo Switch console and/or Joy-Con controllers. However, if you continue to experience this issue, please power these devices off while using the Nintendo Switch console.
its gotten better putting it up on the fireplace mantle still kind of fucky and mystifying since supposedly the electronics in the left and right are identical if they don't announce some kind of fix soon i'll have to call nintendo and get a replacement
one would hope that gets fixed soon, but yeah, Nintendo seems locked in the past on a lot of design/feature stuff.
Why is the aquarium thing confusing to you? That frequency of Bluetooth doesn't move through water. Yes, they fucked up on the left one and made the frequency too weak and it's really plaguing users with bigger hands because the joycon can easily be totally covered. They pushed out an initial half-assed update to help with the issue. They'll get it fixed with a more robust update sooner than later. It's Nintendo. Some of you are acting like they have a history of bad hardware. What exactly are you all referencing? Again, are we all forgetting that 50% of 360s were defective after 1 year and many users had to pay for Microsoft's program to fix them? Are we forgetting the yellow light debacle with PS3? You don't have a fucking defective console. You have a connection problem that can be combatted by 1) using it in handheld mode with the joycons attached, 2) using a pro controller, or 3) waiting for a patch. Quit fucking whining and hoping that Nintendo fails.
Yep. All their previous consoles also tie any game purchased digitally to that console, meaning if you sell then rebuy or have to get a replacement you're rebuying your games. Seems like we're maybe finally getting a unified account with the Switch, but it's not clear yet.
Because you're an idiot for complaining when you're an early adopter of any electronic device. You have willingly entered into their open beta where the community is going to solve a hell of a lot more problems than a small QA team.
I don't have a switch but I'm considering one. The hardware issues don't bother me at all. The data transfer issue is something I came across while researching and found pretty ridiculous. I haven't owned a Nintendo console for myself since the GameCube so I'm out of touch with their product. You caping up and getting super pissed about people having issues or concerns is fucking hilarious
I generally agree that early adopters are setting themselves up to experience a few extra issues, but I would take issue with the "open beta" thing (not your statement of it, but rather a company viewing it that way). A console brought to market should not be in "open beta" stage. Software in open beta stage is tested for free by people who know they are doing a beta. When you put your console on store shelves and charge people $300 (realistically $360 if you want a game) you are implying that it is a finished product. Of course in this day and age, you expect some things to be tweaked and such, but crucial, game-breaking functionality shouldn't be a "we're working on it" item. If you can't release a product that works the way it is intended, you should have tested it more before release.
I was an Xbox bro who went with PlayStation this gen solely based on the issues I experienced with Microsoft last gen. I dont fanboy and I don't hope Nintendo fails. I really would like to play their games (Zelda truly has me on the verge) but I can't justify the purchase until/unless these issues get ironed out. I'm 35 and Nintendo nostalgia is a real thing for me.
Just going to say he probably is reacting that way because most of your posts and some others have basically had the tone of complaining and bitching. Not sure if that's the intent, but that's how it reads.
He shouldn't let that shit bother him. This thread is about the switch and complaints and bitching is part of any new product. He should add what he enjoys about it and be done. Getting in his feelings because he perceives someone doesn't like something as much as he does is just silly
Same. And honestly, all of the games feel polished like Nintendo titles always have. Zelda keeps making me giddy. My only complaint is that I really do think Nintendo has done a soft launch for this. They know they're going to blow by Wii U sales and I can already tell word of mouth is going to drive this thing similar to the original Wii. I hope they keep pushing to grab back their share of the market. Console gaming is just better when there's a legitimate 3 horse race. I'm not trying to make excuses for Nintendo because I too am annoyed that there's no voice chat or even messaging right now and I'm annoyed that my left joycon makes me walk off cliffs every now and then but the little controllers are magical and I'm still blown away that motion control is possible with them without a sensor on the tv. Nintendo is guilty as fuck of being silent on issues and it's deafening. It just isn't enough to take away from how neat this little device is.
