That figures and is what I get for bingeing out until 3am on my initial Hyrule visit. Couldn't remember anything that the people around the castle had talked about.
That website's tips are actually pretty great Fusiontegra Basically a bunch of stuff that is ADHD approved but a lot more valuable to do in explorer mode than just aimlessly walking towards pings
Yeah, I really think they designed the game to be pretty linear in the first 10 hours or so. You can fuck off and explore right off the bat but it'll hamper you at some point. For instance, my partner ended up in an entire Twitter thread of people that went off on their own shit on the very first island and ended up spending 4 hours running through snow while trying to survive without cold pants and being unable to ultrahand anything because they didn't do the first shrine. It actually became easier to just restart the game at that point than try and backtrack. There's definitely a "right"order for that island.
I temporarily got stuck at that point after beating the construct. Ended up going all the way back down because I thought I saw a railroad track going up north. The slippery rock formation snow area is a red herring probably throws a lot of people off since the Zonai in the cave that teaches you to cook heat elements is like yea do this and then go in the snow... but not the obvious path covered in snow right next to this entrance. Also a huge fan of ultrahand and the abilities in this game are a lot more fun than BoTW. You could do some neat stuff with Stasis but nothing close to what we have now.
What do yall prioritize in heart/stamina upgrades? Kinda thinking I'll upgrade hearts until I get 7-8 of them and then go all in on stamina until I at least have 2 full wheels.
Think this was basically my exact path in BOTW. I'm at 6 hearts currently. I feel like stamina definitely lasts longer early on than in BOTW...? Particularly for climbing.
Not a noticeable difference for me but I jump a ton when climbing and yeet myself off the top edge of cliffs regularly thinking that last few feet can be had even though I'm in the red I like excess stamina more for long range paragliding. Per reddit you get one last paraglide pull even if you're free-falling because you ran out of stamina in mid-air, which can save you from dying if you pull it right before landing.
I didn't bother with heart upgrades till I had maxed out stamina. Made exploration such a breeze. Combat was tougher but with some planning and avoiding the bigger enemies roaming the map, it's fine. I've sunk maybe 50 hours into the game, and I've only done two temples and gotten maybe 90 shrines. I'm going to be picking at this game for months.
This is me. Since the Switch is a shared console, I don't keep it in my office with my XB/PC where I do most of my gaming at night after the GF goes to bed. I'll most likely do most of my ToTKing while on breaks working from home in slow months this summer.
I definitely like to roam and explore. That mostly didn’t affect anything, until I got to a shrine that I just couldn’t get past. When I gave in and looked up a video on how to do it, it showed everyone using their glider to bridge the gap I couldn’t cross. It didn’t even occur to me, that I had not gone about finding the glider yet. Dumb.
Yeah, the inefficiency was maddening. I also just did a play through of BOTW, so my brain grew accustomed to it being there. I died a couple of times from jumping off of cliffs, thinking I could glide.
I did the voucher thing for zelda, so it softened the blow a little bit since Ill basically get another game for half price
I don’t mind paying 70 for a game if I’m going to sink a ton of hours into it. Very rarely will I buy on release day until I see some videos, etc on what it’s all about. Zelda I was fine because I knew it was just going to expand in the last one and I enjoyed it
100 bucks on the nintendo store lets you download two games. I got zelda and then had to repurchase Smash Bros since I gave my last switch away You can spend the 100 bucks as many times as you want and it doesn't matter the cost of the game as long as the game is voucher eligible Probably going to use it again to get metroid prime remastered since I never played on GC and probably another game worth 70
Just watched a YouTube video of a guy beating a white lynel under the castle right after he got the paraglider. I don’t have the courage to attempt that yet.
I happened upon that thing in the coliseum ruins yesterday, right as I was finishing up playing for the day. So I saved, shot that fucker in the face with an arrow…and almost immediately got electrocuted to death.
Fought the same one yesterday trying to complete a fetch quest. I'll come back when I have electricity resistant armor
Picked up TotK today, very excite. I think I may be the only person on the planet that enjoyed BotW w/ joy con controls and I got tired of fixing my old ones so I bought some new ones. Looks like it doesn’t matter cause the controls are different? I liked the fighting/swiping/etc on BotW. I just jumped from after healing and getting the depleted master sword so I have no point of reference. Am I correct?
Man the machine crafting is so cool. Was wondering how they would improve on BotW and they nailed it.
Try fusing a rocket to an arrow. Long range sniping. You can also equip a bo.b to your shield and when an enemy hits it they get the impact but you are protected. Don't do it on Death Mountain though
My wife told me this weekend she is open to trying BoTW. I look forward to helping her start a game of her own and watching from the next room
The water bubble giving you a free hit is good if you don't have a ton of hearts yet. He's helpful in fiery places too, but it's basically Tulin > all
So the "construction materials" laying around at various sites...are they "for" anything specific like a Lego set? Or just pieces you might want to use for whatever at some point
