I recall him insisting on ST/CF but I guess he's faced reality. He need to just focus on running in behind and not donkey touching Mesut's perfectly weighted through balls.
Maybe, just not sure him being our 6th or 7th attacker is good for him. Laca, Alexis or replacement, Ozil, Giroud, Welbeck, and Theo; a lot of bodies plus Ox isn't gonna want just backup RWB duties all year. Reiss Nelson can provide depth for europa league and the cups.
I feel like you can probably cut Giroud from that list and Ox wants to be a CM so I don't think he's much competition for Theo if he stays. Also think it's a bit premature to feel safe with Nelson playing Europa games. Let's also not bank on the likes of Welbeck, Theo and Ox to stay fit all year.
I think he can play in the wide midfield, we'll probably have a decent amount of rotation there depending on opponent. I'm assuming the top 3 will be mainstays in Ozil, Alexis and Laca. Iwobi, Theo, Ox, Bellerin, Nacho etc out wide midfield/wingback.
Iwobi is versatile as hell, has played really well as a 10 and could probably fit our new b2b role really well but might be too late for that. Buy him as a CM a lot more than Ox, Ox's close control, decision making, and passing is just not good enough. Running at players, not thinking, and whipping in crosses is what he is. Really don't have a good backup for Ramsey right now.
I don't even know what Ramsey's position is in this formation. Central midfield with Xhaka I guess. Two of Ramsey, Xhaka, Coq, El Nenny depending on fitness and opponent.
I'm very against it. Last thing we need is him fucking up combo play between Alexis and Ozil by Leeroy Jenkinsing every 5 minutes.
Next to Xhaka and think it's the best fit for him we've had since he played next to Arteta in a kinda counter attacking style and was the best player in the league for 4 months. He can make his runs forward and Kolasinac or Monreal from lwb can cover the space he leaves.
Pretty much how I feel. He's not perfect but he makes things happen going forward and he's pretty bad if he doesn't have license to do that.
Do I wanna be an adult and go to work or pull some shit for the 2nd week in a row to watch a friendly tomorrow, very much leaning to the latter.
On WatchESPN at ass crack of dawn. Will probably try to just get into work early and stream in peace and quiet.
What exactly is Ramsey great at? Seems average is most areas except for running. I guess he'd be a 10 is not for Özil
He's good at running and popping up in great positions and blowing glorious chances. Also, leaving huge holes on the counter in our old formation because he only cares about scoring goals. 3 man backline is a much more direct attacking approach while having more men behind the ball, it suits most the players in our squad.
when he's in form and confident, i think he's got a good nose for goal, can make great runs off the ball, isn't wasteful with his passing and keeps the ball moving in the final third, and his interplay with özil can be sexy af. i mean, he was the best b2b mf in the league during his wonder season. i think it's highly, highly, highly, highly unlikely we ever see a season like that from him again, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had a string of games where he fires on all cylinders again. if he can replicate, or improve, his performance over the last month or two of this past season, i'd be quite satisfied tbh.
Ramsey has also been fabulous for Wales as the right side of the front 3. Huge critic of his but think he has a really good season if he can stay healthy.
If we're playing 3 at the back, we have to have someone in that midfield 2 to be attack-minded. Ramsey seems a pretty good fit there.
thats fair, but the fact that wenger is still the manager after last season is shameful. you can think ill of me all you want. Arsenal is the only team im not optimistic for and thats on Wenger. he slowly killed every last drop of optimism.
God damnit Leroy! Wu, I was agreeing with you. Iwobi can absolutely be a role player and will also start and contribute with injuries and Europa. I don't want anyone else starting when Ozil needs rest or is injured.
He needs to be incorporated in the MF as a creative presence. Deep lying. He could do what Santi did, or I should say he's the closest we have. He's creative as hell and so calm on the ball. Wenger probably won't ever put him there but we want to do something in the league the margins are thin.
