Same with my on my 6P. A few days after having Android O beta and my phone is back to being laggy at times. This is my second one and I've only had this second one for about a year now.
I had to revert from the o beta today. I was having weird issues like my outgoing calls not always working and my alarm didn't make any noise this morning. Too unstable for my blood.
DON'T update to newest SuperSU version. You may lose root access. Good thing I kept an old version on my phone.
No issues on my replacement 5x with O. Hardware longevity concerns aside, this is a killer phone for $250 or w/e.
I'm looking to opt out too. Nothing all that bad but the small issues taint the normally smooth Pixel operation. Did opting out mess anything up? I know they warn about losing personal data, but not really sure if that's a big deal since I'm backed up.
I ended up factory resetting my phone. The lagging issues were getting unbearable, and I had those before the O beta. Since then the lagging issues have disappeared. Only problem now is that I don't get notifications on some of my apps for some reason, chiefly Gmail
Well my 6P on the O beta went into a boot loop when I started downloading app updates. Had to go into recovery mode to factory reset it. Fucking lovely.
Bootloop has returned. Confirmed it's an app problem by booting into safe mode. Have no idea which one it is, and given the high # of apps I have, it will be simpler to just unenroll from the O beta. I'll miss the new emojis and the condensed notification sizes.
Rumor is the new Pixel's are going to be similar to the new Galaxy S8s in terms of aspect ratio and minimal bezels
I like mine. Not incredibly life changing, but it's nice to ask about the weather/forecast etc as I grab my keys and head out the door (my coat/jacket closet is right by the door as well). Besides that, I mostly ask it random questions or do 'party tricks' like sing happy birthday, tell me a joke, beatbox for me, etc.
Just FYI: Project Fi only has Pixels (1st gen) available now for new purchase. My wife's iPhone 5S broke its screen the other day and I was ready to sign her up, but ain't no way I'm paying $27/mo for the old Pixel and they are out of 6Ps and 5xs. With the issues on both those phones, I'm nervous to get one secondhand.
Picked up the Chromebook Plus for $355 out the door. Neat little device but since its USB-C only, I had to order $50 worth of adapters/dongles so I can fully set it up (eg mouse/ext monitor/etc) Per reddit, it supports 4k60 out, which is nuts. I can only confirm when my HDMI out adapter arrives. I wanted to sideload apks on there but it would require the android equivalent of unlocking the bootloader. the stylus is a nice touch but doesn't work on other devices I want to put a screen protector on this, but I think that would keep the stylus from working Screen is very nice. This should keep me from having to buy a replacement tablet for my N9 which is starting to crap out (25 seconds to load Candy Crush yesterday).
I'm thinking about going to T-Mobile (from Project Fi) because I'm getting a little tired of having to watch my data usage like a hawk. Anybody here ever owned a OnePlus? If I make the move I may go ahead go with the OnePlus 5 before my 5X dies again.
Rumor is the upcoming small version of the Pixel will essentially look the same as last year's model while the bigger variant will take on more of an S8+ form factor. Hope this is not true, it was dumb go have two entirely different style phones and forcing consumers to choose on style, features, and price like you had to do with the 5x and 6p
Don't know if it's because I'm on the O beta or not but just got the early shutdown thing on my Nexus 6P for the second time in the past couple weeks. Was going to hold off until the fall for when the new Pixels and iPhones come out to choose a new phone, but might have to bite the bullet and go ahead and get an S8.
Damn, Samsung running a deal where you get a free $200 VISA gift card if you buy the S8 direct from Samsung too. That might just be the deciding factor right there.
One Plus never seizes to make terrible decisions: http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/06/27/never-settle-oneplus-dodges-questions-companys-reddit-ama/ and https://www.xda-developers.com/conf...ay-upside-down-likely-reason-jelly-scrolling/
Not surprising. Major reason I have avoided even considering a One Plus phone ever since the first one
Maybe. I haven't seen much substantial in the way of rumors about them though. I don't know if that's good or bad.
Pixel - Oct 13 2016 N5x/N6p - Sept 29 2015 N6 - Oct 29 2014 Pixel 2 probably announced in early Oct, available for purchase within 14 days.
impulse purchase over the weekend - $550 for a brand new Pixel XL 32GB, its VZW, so I just have to mess with the activation side of things OR I can trade on swappa to bypass that.
The note 8 is the bane of my existence. Why can't they just release the fucking thing so I can make my boss pay for it.
Gonna go get a new phone tomorrow as mine is starting to die.... Buttons not working. Have had a LG G2 for nearly four years and it has been great Looking at the G6. Anyone have it?
Why get the G6 when you can get a superior phone like the S8? Currently $40 more but Samsung and Bestbuy are running a $200 back as a gift card promotion.
Is the s8 gonna be smooth for a few months then turn to shit like other Samsungs I've owned or currently own?
Yes. And they will kill the fuck out of it in 1.5 years with an update that brings everything to a crawl so you'll go get an S10.
Yes. I left my S8 plus for this reason. After just a month I started getting major OS lag. I couldn’t even record 4K videos without them being choppy
Loving the G6 so far. It's really pretty and holds lots of music. Seems like it'll be perfect for me. RIP my G2, you were the best
I think I may have made a big mistake. I needed to get a new phone and the best Android phone that has was the S8+. Just read some of the comments in here and am thinking I knew better than giving Samsung another chance. All the reviews I've seen even the ones where they revisit the phones have been good. So idk.
I think it's different but similar, if you already have the chargers you can just plug it in an check the power apps to see the speed.
usb-c is a connector type quick charge is a technology because (generally speaking) usb-c is integrated into higher specc'ed implementations than micro usb (eg usb 3.1/SS/etc), you should use the charger your device came with. The real winner here is USB-PD
Anyone have a good smart watch. I had the original moto 360 which was meh but debating on the LG watch sport (I have amazon credit to burn)
But for the record, I primarily use Quick Charge 3.0 chargers for the S8, though the Nexus 6P chargers I have all charge seem to charge it at the same speed as long as I plug into the USB C port on the charger.
