Awesome, thanks for the info. So do you think I should roll with ClockWorkMod? It sounds like that is what is normally talked about everywhere?
Also, is there anyone that wouldn't mind posting some of their profiles for SetCPU? My battery life seems like it is terrible. Just started tinkering with it.
You're the man. Unfortunately it looks like the mirror for recovery.img is no longer hosted. I can't seem to pull it up at all
Just googled it. Looks the same but with a different battery. Would like this very much but it costs 100 bucks more, plus I only have 4 days left in my window to return this phone and that isn't coming out for another 12.
Did not read. Does anyone else have a Droid2 that acts like a total pussy unless the guess/correct/etc. shit is turned off for the keyboard?
this should be able to walk you through from start to finish putting on recovery http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Evo_4G:_Full_Update_Guide
I've got a perfect condition OtterBox Defender for the Galaxy Nexus that I don't need anymore. If someone wants it let me know. All you have to do is make a 20 dollar donation to TMB and I'll ship it right out.
I just got rid of my Droid2, but I used Swype and didn't have this problem. My biggest problem with the Droid2 was that it would reboot randomly a few times a day.
Guess I should do the Swype thing. I've heard it takes some getting used to, but that's okay. Mine does the same thing. It won't stay off, either. Very fucking irritating to turn my phone off in a movie and feel it vibrating twenty minutes later. Never buying another Android tbph.
It sucked even worse the time I went backpacking before last. I turned it off, threw it in my glovebox, and went out for two nights. Came back, phone dead! Surprise! It turned on, searched for signal for two days and died. Whomp, whomp.
I'm about to take my Nexus back to stock and lock the bootloader. My phone is still having that charging problem so I'm going to take it into the store and get a replacement. I've had to charge my batteries with this, but it's turned out to be pretty convenient since it came with another battery to go along with the original and extended batteries I already had.
I was wondering what had happened with that. There are several threads on RootzWiki with people having similar problems.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/15504-nexus-isnt-charging/ Unfortunately no resolution has been found. Only solution has been to exchange it.
Just updated my kernel to the 1.6 version of minimalist last night. Seemed fine, but this morning when the alarm was going off the touchscreen worked when i hit snooze the first time but I couldn't type in my passcode or push reboot when I pushed the power button and it then finally rebooted on its own but got stuck in bootloop for a while and I ended up pulling the battery. It booted back up and has been fine all day.
Probably only a one time thing. See if it does it again tomorrow. You are on kernel version 1.6.6 correct? Also make sure you're on the stable version if it continues.
Under System>About>Kernel Version make sure it doesn't say something like 1.6.6exp4. Also the stable one is the top link in the post on RootzWiki.
3.0.17-imoseyon-1.6.6-g353fe81 imoseyon@ubuntu #263 is what it says. I got the link from that post on rootz
Pictures of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Droid RAZR just leaked. http://www.droid-life.com/2012/01/2...torola-razr-leaks-our-first-look-at-blurwich/ Edit: Never mind, Friar beat me to it. See Verizon thread.
Samsung Galaxy III spec were leaked recently. Look for this one to be debuted at Mobile World Congress in February. http://www.droid-life.com/2012/01/2...s-12mp-camera-hd-screen-and-an-april-release/
More phone info leaking before Mobile World Congress. LG X3 render leaked, supposedly will have a quad core Tegra 3 onboard. http://www.droid-life.com/2012/01/2...eaked-rumored-to-have-nvidia-tegra-3-onboard/
OK boys strange question. I have an Evo that is not rooted, I am running android 2.2 and the phone keeps trying to download and update to 2.3 (I know it was out long ago, but I have been fighting this problem) I want to go to 2.3 but I keep getting the following. I have no issue downloading the update and starting to go through the process but after just a couple of minutes it hangs up and I get the little android guy with an exclamation point in a triangle. The only way to get back is to pull the battery and reboot. I have downloaded the update multiple times so I know it's not just a bad copy. I had rooted with unrevoked but I did their un-root and even did a factory reset on the phone, any advice?
This might be a dumb question, but you've deleted the update.zip from your SD card right? If not that could explain why a factory reset and multiple download attempts didn't work.
Do you recommend flashing the new updated minimalist kernel each time a new version is released? Seems like if you have a version that's working to not screw with it, but my desire to have the new, bigger, better gets me.
Hmmm I've got no idea. My suggestion would be to root, install a custom recovery, and install the rom that way (there are rooted version of stock 2.3 gingerbread).
I don't think it's critical. If you don't have any errors I wouldn't worry about it too much. However, it does get better and better with each update, so there are some benefits you might be missing out on. For whatever it's worth, I'm getting silly good battery life on 1.7.1 stable (I stopped using the experimental ones). We're talking 30 hours on wifi and 3g with around 1.5 hours of screen on time.
The screen (and LTE) is what I've found to be the biggest drains on the battery. 3 hours of screen on time is about as much as the battery can take.
What's your favorite exchange email app? Good Messaging no longer works for Verizon unless you have a BUSINESS data plan in addition to your regular data plan and it's $10/month. So fuck those fuckers.
I use the stock email app, although it has been vastly improved in ICS. I know people that swear by K-9 Mail: https://market.android.com/details?...result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5mc2NrLms5Il0. Check out this review here: http://lifehacker.com/5812657/the-best-email-client-for-android
So, I'm in the market for a tablet. I know what the Ipad can do, but it's on the high side of what I'd like to spend. I've been researching the Transformer Prime and there are a lot of positives to it, but the lack of 3g is a minus. Anything similar with that kind of mobil connectivity?
having a hotspot is for devices with cell data connections (3g, lte, wimax, etc) some tablets have data connections on them, but all have wifi built in. only the ones with data connections would have hotspot capability. the US Motorola Xoom (Wifi) just became one of the most attractive tablets. Tegra 2 (dual core 1.0) and ICS comes stock now. 32 gigs storage, usb/hdmi out. prob available for $399 if not less. in other news HTC also announced they will be offering a lot less phones in '12
I meant rooting your phone and using it for wi-fi tether. Converting 3g/4g into wifi. Do this with my EVO4g and Transformer Prime all the time.
whoops completey misread your sentence. thats exactly what I do too. I was on a road trip this past weekend, so I turned on 3g tethering from phone, and then went to google maps navigation on my tablet. turn by turn on a 10" screen. . 4 hours of data usage was only like 14 MB.
Anyone having trouble with wifi tether randomly losing connection? It looks like it is still running on the phone but it will randomly lose connection with the computer. Have to shut it off and turn it back on and it works.
