mike napoli was such a great pickup. hopefully they add another bat before the deadline and get brantley back 100%. offense goes from being good enough to borderline dominant if that happens
Bullpen arm is the #1 need IMO. Shaw is a bum and I hate him in the set up role. Would like to add a bat but it'll probably cost too much to get anyone worthwhile.
That 5th inning today was good times. I'd be good with adding Lucroy, but I'd really like to see them get some bullpen help.
Brewers have a couple bullpen arms that would be nice to add. Hopefully Lucroy + one of those guys happens here soon.
As long as we don't give up Zimmer or Clint. I'm down to clown. Really need to fortify that bullpen. Andrew Miller would ideal. But that's a long shot with the Yankees winning now and what they would ask for.
Nice article re: your starting rotation: http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2016/07/cleveland_indians_starting_rot_4.html
Not sure I'm excited about Lucroy, depending on what we give up. I think we are solid at Catcher with Gomes, Gimenez, and Perez. Need to RP.
all 3 hitting below the mendoza line and gomes is out for six weeks. give me lucroy. downside is we probably don't retain him, but that probably drives the price down too. get brantley back healthy and that lineup is looking pretty nice
i'm hoping they're just being super cautious with him. still hopeful he'll be good to go by late august/september, but labrum injuries are obviously tricky
Bruce Levine– @MLBBruceLevine MLB source- the Cleveland Indians have the best names on the table for Aroldis Chapman. Deal could be close Washington also very aggressive
Saw Sandy Alomar today sign autographs and take pictures for close to an hour in 95 degree heat. Got every person waiting then was running to the clubhouse and a couple more people called for him and he came back to take care of them. Seems like an awesome guy.
Ideal? No. But we won our first two series, got swept, and then won last night. I'll take 5-5 as being "down"
Since the winning streak, Hamilton said they were 7-11 going into last night. Needed that one badly last night, even sweeter since it was against Papeldouche.
Holy shit- we got the best Catcher (Lucroy) and RP (Miller). Gave up a decent amount of prospects, but we at least have those guys for this year and next year. All in, baby.
The Yankees and Indians have agreed to a deal that will send All-Star reliever Andrew Miller to Cleveland. The trade was first reported by Fox Sports and confirmed by ESPN. The Yankees will get minor league outfielder Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield in return, sources told ESPN's Buster Olney.
According to reports, the Brewers would receive four minor league prospects from the Indians if Lucroy signs off on the trade. Included among the prospects are prized switch-hitting catcher Francisco Mejia, 20, and outfielder Greg Allen, 23. Shortstop Yu-Cheng Chang, 20, would also be headed to Milwaukee, along with another prospect.
Not happy with losing Frazier in the long run, he's been climbing well. But hopefully this solidifies us for a run this year.
CJ Nitkowski (@CJNitkowski) 7/31/16, 8:09 AM The Cleveland @Indians have their entire rotation, Andrew Miller and Cody Allen under control through at least 2018. Three shots at a ring.
Wore my tribe gear to the Rays/Yankees last night. What a dump that stadium is. Lots of Indian fans there though.
Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) 7/31/16, 10:23 AM Sources: Jonathan Lucroy wanted Indians to rip up 2017 club option to get him to waive no-trade clause. Understandably, Cleveland said no.
If the Indians really told Lucroy he'd be the back up to Yan Gomes going forward then the executives should be fired on the spot.
