i don't know why we can't beat the shitty ass white sox, but it's kind of hard to be upset with how this season went given the circumstances. we lost most of our offense in the offseason and the majority of our starting rotation was on IR by the end of may. our second best pitcher got fucking cancer. we really didn't catch a single break and still finished with more wins than we had a year ago
We're gonna win 93-96 games and finish 6th in ELO rankings. If you would have told me those stats in April, I would have asked if we would have clinched a playoff spot in August. Crazy that the Rays, A's, and Twins ALL outperformed even their most optimistic best case scenario, and we lost 2-4 wins from injuries. Know we weren't gonna take it all this year and we're well positioned for the next couple years, but every year you miss a crack at it is disappointing.
Taking a peak at the team next season; DH- Carlos Santana C- Roberto Perez & Kevin Plawecki 1B- Jake Bauers 2B- 3B- Jose Ramirez, Yu Cheng SS- Frankie Lindor OF- Tyler Naquin, Franmil Reyes, Greg Allen, Oscar Mercado, Bradley Zimmer, Jordan Luplow SP- Mike Clevinger, Shane Bieber, Adam Plutko, Aaron Civale, Zach Plesac Bullpen- Carlos Carrasco, Adam Cimber, Brad Hand, Dan Otero, Oliver Perez We are freeing up ~$45m by letting Puig, Kluber, and Kipnis walk. Not that we'd do anything with that extra money anyway.
No way they don’t pick up Kluber’s option, if he pitches well they can flip him for prospects during the season, they won’t just give him up for nothing. Carrasco is a starter, Plutko/Plesac/Civale more likely to go to the bullpen. Probably see Hand and Lindor traded in the off-season.
Fuck Paul Dolan. Payroll has gone from $107mm (22nd) in 2019 to $82mm (25th) projected for 2020. He then goes on to say this shit
Man, I get pretty creeped out when "owners" talk about players like their Sunday Maserati or their killer surround system in their home movie theater. "You poors enjoy that thing I own and I'm giving you the opportunity for one more year to enjoy. Nice toy I have for one more year."
Friday with Bieber on the hill against a shitty team in a season where every game is essentially 2.5 games already feels like a must-win lol
I’m watching. I know it’s an old joke already, but this is peak Tribe late July attendance. I notice no difference.
Team still can't hit lol. Weird that happens when you continue to let bats walk. At least our staff is dope.
Guys, it’s the first game of an unprecedented season where they are starting it with extra months of rust. Don’t do this already.
To be clear, I’m not saying that’s going to be how the season is going to go. Just saying that given the pitching we’re already seeing it would be about par if it were to end up that way.
We've got 6 more years of Bieber control, but they need to do what they did with Jose Ramirez and throw him a big money contract a little early to lock him into years. He's going to be a top of the rotation guy for a decade.
We have an awesome front office that's handcuffed by the fact that a literal trash can owns the team We have the pitching to make the playoffs, and with how weird covid is going to make everything, it's a total toss up from there
Considering the new playoff format which was just announced, I’d honestly be pretty floored if they don’t at least make the playoffs.
Sadly, this year it's so easy for them to justify not spending on the team, because we have a 78% chance of making the 8-team AL playoff (according to FanGraphs) and a three game series with Bieber/Clevinger going on the hill is enough randomness to beat the Yankees or Astros regardless of whether we have another bat or not
Bieber's 14 Ks is the most in an opening day start since Randy Johnson's 14 in 1996 (!) and a Tribe record.
Two on, no outs in the 9th and 10th and couldn’t get one run in. Man I hope we don’t miss the playoffs by one game
Kluber "suffered a grade 2 tear of the teres major muscle in the right shoulder" after pitching 1 inning Will still always love you Klub
We essentially won the equivalent of 5.3 annualized games against a division rival a lot of people thought would surpass us this year in an 8 hour period. Which is nice.
Can't believe Plesac went 8.0 IP, 0.4 WHIP, 11 Ks and we didn't turn that into a win. He's our fifth starter!
Yes I would like Andrew Miller back for the post season run to go with this excellent starting pitching staff...
