I thought I read that hirschbeck was 88th out of 90, which I'd believe after his performance the other night.
Is there any reason why I should feel optimistic about tomorrow? This is starting to feel like rooting for Cleveland sports again
It will suck if we lose but really getting this far without Brantley, Salazar, and Carrasco is pretty great. I know Salazar is technically available but you get the point.
I didn't get upset last night at all. Tuned out. Stayed up late drinking. Wasn't upset at all. Not the case this morning. Kill me now.
even the 8000 year old cubs curse is powerless against the juggernaut that is cleveland sports thank christ for lebron
in all seriousness, i'm pretty happy with this team. this stings, but the playoffs were a lot of fun and we weren't even expected to reach them when we were healthy. to make it as far as we did without 2 of our 3 best pitchers and our best position player (maybe second best to lindor now) is pretty incredible. this series kind of had a cavs/warriors 2015 feel to it even when we were up. just seemed like a matter of time before the bottom gave out. just hoped we could squeeze out one more win before that happened. should be better next year with all our pieces healthy again. don't think we're set to lose anyone of significance in free agency but i don't really follow that stuff too closely since baseball is totally meh to me.
Believe Mike Napoli, Coco Crisp, and Rajai Davis are all unrestricted free agents this year. With how good of a table setter Davis is, I'd love to see him back for the $6m he made this year but who knows what he'll get offered. Same with Napoli - absolute home run on a 1 year, $7m deal, but think his price probably went up. With Brantley healthy and Chisenhall, Guyer, and Naquin competing for time, I don't know if we'll see Coco back. Rest of the core is good through at least next year with most longer term (Kipnis, Santana, Lindor, Kluber, Miller, Salazar, Carrasco being "core).
I mean, it hurts like shit. We all thought after '97 we'd be lined up for title run after title run and it never happened. Especially in baseball, you just never know. Sound money was on the Blue Jays or Rangers making it to the Series, and both got smoked in the ALDS and ALCS, respectively. That said, they are well positioned. The team is constructed very well. Core under long-term contracts and Lindor, Ramirez, Naquin, etc. should all be getting better. Kipnis (29) and Santana (30) have some prime years left. Not sure we're the AL favorites going into next year, but we'll be right in the playoff mix, which is what you need in baseball.
Exactly. You can't assume Napoli and Santana have career years again. Hopefully they get aggressive in FA and make the most out of this window.
Do they overpay for someone like a Justin Turner? I doubt they'll compete for Encarnacion, Bautista, or Desmond. Those contracts will be stupid high. I look at Brantley as "adding a bat."
I'm ready for opening day. Hope they get the turnouts they deserve going forward. This is a fun team that plays their asses off.
We didn't offer qualifying offers to anyone. I think we end up re-signing Rajai & Nap, unless one of the big market teams come in and grossly overpay.
