Almost crockpot szn for me. Can't do it in the summer, just doesn't appeal to me. Sunday football and a whole week's meals though...
You got to use preseason football as your crockpot preseason as well. Try a few recipes you wouldn't normally try, if you got a new pot- test it out- you may end up going back to old trusty, use it to get your timing down, and if you get a big win and some nice compliments- well that's just the icing on the cake.
Any recs for CFB this sat? I usually smoke something but I’m recovering from surgery so the Crock Pot will be my go to this weekend. Just did MS roast last weekend. Was thinking maybe Korean BBQ or something like that.
dude I do a killer pulled pork in the crock pot . almost as good as on the smoker . just need a boston butt/ bone removed and tied . liquid smoke , fresh garlic cloves 1/3 of a cup of water. low and slow over-night . yummy .
Not really a CFB worthy thing, but we've been making risotto in the crock pot and it is DOPE. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/228033/slow-cooker-risotto/
I'm doing Chicago Italian Beef for actual week 1. http://www.food.com/recipe/chicago-italian-beef-30484
Looong cook but looks good. Do you need to go to a butcher for "rump roast" or is this called something else more common? Publix is the extent of my deli shopping at the moment
Cheapo EZ Fish Recepie: Buy a big bag of frozen tilapia, tinfoil, a jar of Mandarin oranges, honey and bottle of balsamic vinegar Make a "boat" out of the tinfoil and put 2 frozen tilapia in the boat Drizzle honey and balsamic on top then cover with Mandarin oranges plus a little juice from the oranges jar Close the "boat" so it's a tinfoil shell around the whole deal Cook on high 2-2.5 hours. Easy cleanup as well, just take out the whole tinfoil deal and unwrap in the sink
Put this in the crock pot at 11a.m. for eight hours...excited for it....I went a little more aggressive on the spices, but very simple to make. SLOW COOKER CAJUN CHICKEN & SAUSAGE INGREDIENTS 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts 12 oz. Andouille sausage cut into rounds 1 medium yellow onion, chopped 1 green bell pepper, chopped 3 celery stalks, chopped 4 cloves chopped garlic 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth 2 14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes 1 14.5oz can tomato sauce 1 tbsp cajun seasoning ¼ tsp cayenne Place sausage, onions, peppers, celery, garlic in the slow cooker. Add chicken broth, tomatoes, and seasonings and stir. Add chicken breast. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. Take chicken breast out, shred, and place it back in the slow cooker. Mix well.
Anyone have this crockpot? I like it since it's programmable. I can set it to cook for however long the recipe calls then it shifts to just keeping it warm. Would be clutch on those days where I'm working well into the night and want something to just grab and eat when I get home instead of just eating some microwaveable piece of crap. Or this one? Looks the same as the one above but a different brand and a few bucks cheaper
Recipe? Also anyone have a fix for chicken noodle soup and the noodles getting overcooked/mushy? Put them in for 5 minutes and they were gross after
I usually make it with turkey sausage and serve over brown rice for a healthier option. Also I double the Cajun spice. For chicken noodle the only thing I can think of is to cook the noodles separately and add at the end
Don't add noodles to the soup. Make noodles on the side. Put them in your bowl, add soup. Don't keep the leftovers together either
Not crockpot, but make homemade chicken noodle soup & always cook then combine them. It keeps the veggies crisp.
Gettin' cold here and wanna break out the crockpot this weekend... any new recipes anyone tried recently other than the golden staples in this thread?
https://www.themagicalslowcooker.com/slow-cooker-hamburger-hash/ That was very good. I added a packet of dry onion soup mix to it. They say it only takes 4-5hrs on low but it took me closer to 7 to have the potatoes be soft.
Trying this one today.....based on the comments it sounds like if you do the noodles wrong it ruins the entire meal. Might make them separate. Crock Pot Beef and Noodles Tender pieces of shredded beef in a salty broth with egg noodles. This is stick to your ribs comfort food. Course: Main Dish Cuisine: American Servings: 8 Calories: 597 kcal Author: Christin Mahrlig Ingredients 1 (2-pound) beef chuck roast 1 envelope beefy onion soup mix from a 2.2 ounce box 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted 4 cloves garlic, minced 1 (14-ounce) can beef broth 4-6 cups water 2 (12-ounce) packages frozen egg noodles salt and pepper to taste parsley for garnish, optional Place beef roast in slow cooker. Sprinkle onion soup mix on top. Add mushroom soup and garlic and smear on top of roast. Add beef broth. Put lid on crockpot and cook 9 to 10 hours on LOW. Remove lid and shred beef using 2 forks. Add noodles and enough water to mostly submerge the noodles. I try to use as little water as possible because I don't want to water down the flavor. It's ok if some of the noodles are sticking slightly out of the liquid. There is enough moisture and condensation in the crock pot to cook them thoroughly. Cook for 1 hour. Check for seasoning and add salt and pepper to taste.
I made this last night and stuck to the recipe. My wife and I both really enjoyed it, so thanks. I had it in for about 4:30 and didn't have an issue with the potatoes. Maybe another half hour would have been fine.
Interesting about the potatoes. My mom told me it took her only 4-5 as well. My sister and I had to cook it much longer
That reminds me. I need to make that GOAT stroganoff from a Mississippi roast that you posted a while back
We made this yesterday, I must say it was pretty good, however I felt like it was missing some salt or something. Anyone else get that feeling?
Link? The only place can find them in person is those stupid kitchen gadget outlets in all the outlet malls.
I get them from Publix here in Florida. If you search crock pot liners it looks like both Target and Wal Mart have them as well. If you want to buy more than a few you can get them through Amazon.
I bought a box of liners but never use them. Haven't made a dish that wasn't easily cleaned with a good soak and scrub
I'm lazy to the point that the 10 seconds to throw a liner away is a lot better than coming from home work with a soaking pot that I need to scrub for a couple minutes and let dry. I have a deep, deep disdain for washing dishes, so that may be why. I try to use paper plates and bowls any chance I get.
Same here. Made the cheesy chicken and rice this weekend to get back on the wagon. Turned out delicious as usual. Probably go to MS pot roast with stroganoff next weekend, then try out some new stuff for a while.
