the only thing I've ever used them for is rotel dip because that shit is just gonna be super messy to clean up.
Got some white chicken chili going in the crockpot. Will make some jalapeño cheddar cornbread to go with it
Do I have to cook the meat before I toss it in the slow cooker? Or is it OK to put it in there raw? The directions did not specify and I am not about that food poisoning life.
Not sure what you’re cooking but it will be fine if you put it in raw. Pork or beef will hav have better texture if you brown them first. Chicken I just go raw
I started basic with some buffalo chicken. Bought some slow cooker recipe (turned out it was just a packet of buffalo sauce that I could have gotten for half the price if I had just bought a bottle of buffalo sauce...) and the directions didn't say to cook the chicken. I assumed they knew what they were doing. We'll see in a few hours I suppose. Supposed to be done in about 90 minutes.
Just finished cooking at about 5:15. It's OK, came out a bit runnier than I thought it would be. Makes for a decent dip. I was debating fixing some rice and making a buffalo chicken wrap if I have any soft tortillas.
Put this recipe in the slow cooker at noon today....smells good and initial tastes are solid. https://www.cookingclassy.com/slow-cooker-chili/
It has a good flavor. I'm not much of a fan of spicy stuff and a lot of times buffalo flavor is spicy for me, but this is fairly mild so it's spicy enough to open up the sinuses some but not enough that I need to drink milk to cool off my mouth. Goes well with Fritos and Funyuns.
Made the MS roast a handful of times, but trying to make it into a stroganoff tomorrow. How do I do that?
Making this today....looks terribly unhealthy and delicious. I cut the amount of bacon in half as a pound of bacon seems extremely aggressive. http://www.plainchicken.com/2017/12/slow-cooker-crack-potato-soup.html?m=1
Breakfast burritos this morning were delicious. https://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/cuban-pot-roast-recipe-low-carb-gluten-free/
this has become my favorite thing to crock pot fwiw and I cannot recommend it enough I've changed the seasoning up a bit though, now roll with 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/4 tsp cayenne also quartering the sausage slices seems to release more of their flavor
Made this today. I did not cut the amount of bacon in half as I am fat and bacon is amazing. Won't be done for a couple hours but my place smells amazing.
It's real good....put the cream cheese in earlier than the recipe says...it wasn't completely melted after 30 minutes. I turned it up to high and whisked it around to get it melt. You'll be very happy with it.
Thanks for that tip, will do. I must say, I was a little nervous when I opened up the cream of chicken soup this morning and it smelled like dead poops. Was pleasantly surprised when I got home. Will report back later tonight.
Forgot to report back. 1. The cream cheese melted within 10 minutes no problem. 2. There was way too much cream cheese/cheddar cheese for me. I would have cut it at least in half. I wanted a potato soup, not a cheese soup. It was tasting amazing before the cheese. Still good after though. 3. Ms. GGCD liked it more after the cheese but she's a cheese fiend 4. Will make it again on a cold day
