you can level up to 21 pretty quickly if you play a lot of competitive. much quicker than DM or casual. i played mostly causal for the longest time because i was a pussy, and i'm at like 35 now. prime is so worth it, as fsck~ said
Yet it's basically impossible to do in much less than 2 months no matter how much you play since you get like 20 times the experience at the beginning of the week (I think Wednesday being the beginning). But yeah the comp games with the full bonus is like half a level per game. So basically just need to play like 4 comp games a week for a couple months. Yeah I'm pretty confident being your team's anti-tilt helps you rank up faster. Won plenty of games that probably would have fallen apart if not for diffusing teammates.
Yeah there is a weekly multiplier which runs out quickly. Then you get normal exp for a little bit, and then you get reduced for the rest of the week. I think this was put in place to stop people from grinding or getting prime too fast. Hover over your current rank and it tells you if it's bonus multiplier, normal, or reduced.
That's just until you get through placements. Can only win 2 per day for some reason, was pretty annoying.
Used to be LEM but quit playing for like 3 months, got the itch again and got back to which ever one is the double aks. But haven't played again for month or so outside of like 1 or 2 games. This talk has me feeling the itch again but I know everything is going to feel off for like a week or so until I kick the rust off
Just throwing it out there, if anyone needs a good headset and mic for gaming I highly recommend these: Phillips SHP9500 $69.50 VModa BoomPro mic $29.24 (can probably be found cheaper) The 9500 is ridiculously good for the money, and more expensive headphones likely wouldn't be any better for gaming. Note that it's open if you care about sound leakage.
Any idea what you're struggling with? I imagine you can get out of silver by practicing sprays and just getting comfortable in ffa for killing people. Good spray guide came up today on reddit:
i think part of my problem, now that i'm thinking about it, is that i don't play enough. i maybe play 2-3 comp matches a week, and i feel like that's just not near enough. spray is something i definitely need to work on though. saw that post today so i'm gonna try that a bit tonight when i get home.
Getting ready to come back to the master race. Here is the build I'm doing: CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor Motherboard: MSI H110M Gaming Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Storage: SK hynix SL308 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Video Card Case: Cooler Master MasterBox 5 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
you need a bigger PSU, 600W boxes are not that expensive and you need it for that beefy GPU. Otherwise nice build
$699.99 https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1080-ti/?nvid=nv-int-g7-8271
after watching that video, i was trying it earlier in arms race not sure if i've kind of got the hang of it or i'm just getting lucky
Bought Orwell and Inside from Steam on-sale yesterday. Looking forward to playing both, trying to finish Child of Light first while also playing Horizon on PS4. The struggle is real.
Ok PCMR fam who builds/repairs/tinkers, let me pick your brains, need your thoughts on a PC repair i'm doing. Spoiler: TLDR I built a computer for a friend back around July 1. Everything was cool until about mid January, when she tells me its started doing weird stuff (turning off and throwing weird codes, etc. System restore wouldn't work). They took it somewhere, guy thought it was the RAM. So he replaced that, but the PC was still having the same issues. I started working on it around the first of February, got it home, it fired right up, I reinstalled Windows, everything seemed hunky dory, so I gave it back and it started having same issues again almost immediately. Worked on it again last week, finally experienced all the weird crap it was doing, random restarts or multiple restarts while booting, video sometimes going out randomly (switching from video card to onboard video didn't help), but none of the issues were exactly repeatable, and they would come and go. Sometimes i could get it to reinstall Windows, sometimes it would crash out before that. I must have deleted partitions and reinstalled windows 10 times, no luck, kept crashing randomly. Wednesday morning I got it to work, seemed stable, took it back to her, worked Wednesday, Thursday it started doing the same things. Now around the time it started going haywire, she had her AC unit go out, there were some issues at the panel, so i figured this thing might have gotten a small surge and something was fried. I inspected everything last night, nothing burned, no blown capacitors, etc. I replaced the power supply, turned it on, seemed fine. She had told me it seemed to restart and have errors when they had a couple things going on (downloading a movie and using Turbotax at the same time was the example she gave) so I decided to open several windows all playing video to see if I could replicate, i get 3 going at once, sure enough it throws an error and restarts. it comes right back, i do it again, same result, roughly the same timing. So I run a lot of command line hard drive/file system checks, they all come back fine. Right after that, the video goes out again, PC power lights are still on. I try switching from HDMI to DVI, no effect. I pull the video card to see if that is the issue, after a few tries i get visuals back with onboard video. I decide to let it download/install a game on Steam overnight, see if it can handle a multi-hour, low intensity workload. Wake up and its crashed again, can't tell how many times, black screen with a cursor flashing. Restart several times, no video at all, computer powers up fine though. So to summarize, RAM is new and works, PSU is new and works, same issues being experienced with video card in or out, HD seems to be fine based on command line checks (DSIM and SFC were what I ran), multiple windows reinstalls. So i'm thinking its gotta be the motherboard or the hard drive, right? Everything else has been replaced, checked or removed at this point. Never seen anything like this, has me very frustrated. If you got to the end of this, thanks for reading and giving any thoughts you might have.
You took all the steps I would have. Motherboard sounds flaky to me. Is there any overclocking setup or is it all factory settings? Also, are there any new firmware updates available for the motherboard?
seems right, and i can't see the CPU accounting for the video issues either. When I can get it to work, it seems like windows runs well, but all those errors its throwing made me wonder about the CPU. Now I need to figure out how to remove the fan and CPU from the mobo.
Check for a loose wire(s) to the motherboard. Make sure everything is seated as well. I've had desktops shut down on me for something simple like not seating the CPU fan power cord in all the way. Is the power supply too small or do you have sufficient air flow thru the case? My last build I cheaped out and reused the stock case, ended up having random shutdowns due to heat. I've had a shitty past two months; I'm ready for this year to end too...
Get a modular power supply; you'll be thankful for it once you start routing/trying to hide all the cords inside. I think the smallest I've seen might be 750W? but they're not that much.
Thats whats great about the case i got, can hide all of the cords in back. I put it together the other night, ill post a pic later when im home
somehow i dont have a steam purchase that's between 30 days and 1 year old. am i screwed on getting cs:go skins for a month? i dont want anything glamorous. in fact, i'd prefer to just pay $0.50 per for some older ones. also after my first 10 competitive games i ended up at silver elite. apparently this pretty bad.
since i cant buy or trade skins, i bought a couple of keys to open loot boxes got a rare stat trak famas in factory new condition that apparently sells for $18 https://csgostash.com/skin/828/FAMAS-Mecha-Industries
