I still think “mining” digital currency is the dumbest concept of all time. Doesn’t unlimited autonomous creation of currency just 100% lead to automatic guaranteed inflation and subsequent death spiral of any currency?
I hope the bubble bursts soon, and all these people dropping 30k on GPUs are utterly fucked.
Smuggy GTX1080 owner here, it’s just perfect hooked up to a 4K tv
Just dropped a SSD into it, what an upgrade
Nvm found an article stating there’s only another 5mil bitcoin able to be mines before its capped at 21 mil
The blockchain would cease to function without miners. In the end it's that processing power that's worth so much.
Also, bitcoin can't be mined with GPUs.
There are plenty of different blockchain designs that could replace miners in the future and hopefully retain all of the functionality which they supply today. PoS, DAG, etc. I guess time will tell, but it's definitely feasible that all major crypto (except ones designed to sell the GPU calculations) could move away from GPU dependence at some point. I think there are still a rough few years before it gets any better though, hopefully they figure out how to better sell to gamers.
Yeah basically every cryto is inflation free, or has a very small controlled inflation. The pay for miners comes from transaction fees once the limit is hit.
played a few death matches the past few days. just getting my juan deag on.
Haha I’ve been messing with settings since I got my 1080ti and new monitor. I’m running 4x3 stretched at 1920x1440 with a constant 350-400 frames.
Starting playing ESEA again. I just can’t do 64 tick and retarded teammates anymore. Only problem is my ESEA calibration was when I played previously and so i had to start out in C-. Gonna be a rough climb.
Stellaris is almost 2 years old, still an awesome game. Will most likely buy the dlc coming out in Feb.
Shroud was playing Sea of Thieves last night. He and his crew loved it which bodes well for its success. It looked really fun too and quite immersive.
FYI CSGO Eleague final is on all weekend for 1M prize. On twitch.
New month and I already own Life is Strange Complete Season (Episodes 1-5)
Shoot me a PM if you want it.
Where do you see these promotions?
Just started Original Sin 2
Have a feeling this is going to suck up my gaming time for months
75% off on Cities: Skylines on Steam. Only $7.50.

Just started when the new league update came out - 3.2.
This game makes Diablo 3 look child-like.
The game is sooo complex. I’m 40 hours in and about 15-20 hours of research in. It’s overwhelming at first but the way the game is designed, there are numerous options for builds, many successful. There are no set pieces, so while there are cookie cutter builds, there are few that are exactly alike. The passive skill tree is like a starry sky full of constellations. There are 1000s of options.
The story is great and while diablo 3 looks and feels a little smoother as a game, that’s literally it.
There’s also an auction house and they allow for scripts in game to use it for pricing and ease of trade.
It’s come a long way since 2016. There’s so much end game content too. My goodness.
I’m having a blast. I may keep playing it even after sea of thieves comes out or at least split time.
anyone play the darwin project yet? it seems neat.
well, it seems neat to watch streams of.
Btw this game is fucking amazing and I haven’t even gotten off the Fort Joy Island yet lol
Super happy with this purchase.
i really want to try sea of thieves but i'm skeptical at the $60 price being worth it. anyone played yet?
Amazing with friends , not as fun solo but overall a solid game with hilarious moments
Damn yeah, it looks like a $20 indie title. What they did was really cool, but no way I get $60 of value out of it.
Also just discovered mods. Wow what a difference they make to QoL. Faster out of combat run seems so necessary
RIP me when Artifact finally releases this year. Dota 2 lore mixed with a TCG? Fuck yes.
I will be all over that as well. Too bad beta is invite only like it was for dota2
Yeah, it is kind of shitty with a 1m dollar tournament on the horizon next year. But its is what it is. Hope they dont wait until end of year to release. I need it.
Crusader Kings II is free on Steam right now.
Is anyone playing Warhammer: Vermintide 2?
I enjoyed the first one.
Like a fantasy version of Left 4 Dead
Damn no posts in 2-1/2 months.
What did y'all get from the Steam Summer Sale?
I haven’t bought anything yet. I may pick one or two $10 titles that have been on my list for a while.
Did you get anything?
I got Cold Waters, which I am liking a lot, and the last two Legacy of Kain games.
Thinking about getting Oxenfree and Teslagrad.
Really want to get the DCS A10 module and Active Sky for Flight Simulator, but not sure i will drop all that money. Even on sale they are more than I usually spend on games.
I'm looking to get a laptop for my family who basically need no frills. I'd also like to be able to play games like Civilization and Football Manager on it. Could one of you kind gentlemen recommend something or at least let me know what specs I should be looking at.
You can usually catch a good sale from Dell for something like that, delete all the bloatware and you are good to go.
Shouldn't have to spend more than $400-$500
My hard drive died unexpectedly. Turned the computer on, all the components were running, but nothing was booting up and the power light stayed off. I've managed to stay on Windows 7 since 2010, I hate Windows 10 and would rather not use it. Gonna try and recover the data, and I guess buy a new hard drive and OS.
My first built PC is almost done but when I hooked everything up (with a friend who knew what he is doing), the monitor isn't getting any signal from the tower. A lot of the parts were old pieces from my friend, including a dusty old geforce gtx 560 or something. Thinking that is the issue, so eyeing Prime Day deals to pick something up.
Is this GPU any good/the deal any good? Or do I wait until August or whenever the next generation of GPU's drops the rest of the prices.
Umm are you sure you plugged the display cable into the GPU and not the port on the motherboard? This is a very common pc building mistake
Dammit, just saw this thread since I posted mines. Anyways, looking for a good median dpi range for a fps mouse. Also looking for recs for one under fifty bucks. I understand I should put my hands on the but wanted to narrow down hand touching. I think I'm a claw guy too.
I use a Razer Deathadder Chroma and I love it. It's $65 on amazon. It will go as high as 10k dpi but I keep it at 1000 at all times and adjust in-game sens accordingly.
get a big ass mousepad if you don't already have one
Certain. Had to take the little shield off for the GPU to show through, not hooking it up to the HDMI port on the i/o motherboard area. And the old GPU needed a DVI > Hdmi adapter as well, old school. So we bought the linked Prime day deal graphics card, which arrives Monday. I'll update in here whether that fixed it or not.
I'd recommend displayport for the new gpu
For FPS games, Zowie and Logitech are pretty solid.
Pcpartpicker is great for reviews on mice. The Zowie FK and EC series are solid. I love my Logitech G and s lot people love the g402 and g502.
Eh, so looking at amazon basics and they've got big ass pads. What would be the better size you think?
Standard or XXl
Thanks for the pcpartpicker headsup. Was going to check out the Logitech g403 and the Razor deathadder elite. Maybe the logitech g203 just to see..
It’s more than size. I prefer a felt pad, but others like slick. Felt used to track better for my older mice and I got comfortable with that.
If your DPI and sensitivity is lower then the bigger the mousepad the better. If it’s high and it takes like 3 inches of movement to go a full 360 degrees then Standard is probably good.
Thanks again, I guess the best dpi range is a personal fit or feel. I'm gonna get the bigger basic pad, its only 2 bucks more.
It is. It used to vary a lot less when mice had like 400/800 as the only options. I used to have a Supermat with an old Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 in grey. For CS I used 400 dpi, 6/11 windows sensitivity and 1.3 sensitivity in game. It was like 8 inches horizontally on that supermat to go a full 360 degrees. Could control some recoil though haha.
Even if it means converting with an adapter to something else? My new monitor only supports Hdmi or vga I think.
