It really is pretty easy these days, unless you are doing some crazy stuff. The hardest part is putting the CPU into the mobo without bending any pins. Cord management can be a pain, specifically from the power unit, but if you buy a modular one you only have to use the cords you need, instead of a giant cable dick sticking out of it that you have to route through the chassis. There's a ton of great How-To videos on YT and the nice thing about the sites we linked are that you can just pick a "kit" based on price point or quality or whatever, buy all those parts just like they show them, and you know they will work together.
When I built my 1st one I had to watch an hour long video and follow it along step by step. Now I can do that shit almost blindfolded.
I've built two now, one for me and one for a friend, it definitely gets easier each time. I've got the itch to build a new one, but COVID says no
currently $35 on cdkeys, today only https://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/mount-and-blade-ii-2-bannerlord-pc
Just finished the game, 2600+ deaths, must have been 400 easy in the last part of the game, have to be so damned precise. Loved it though, good story, amazing gameplay, highly recommended.
nice, well done there. I was over 1000 i think at that point. i feel like i could probably get around 1200 on my next playthrough
Just actually checked. Finished golden ridge with 411 deaths and 48 strawberries collected. Golden ridge was a pain.
Thinking of getting back into pc gaming. I haven’t built a pc or played on one in over 10 years. Some of the specs out there now for reasonable prices are insane compared to my last build.
It's a great time for it, you can play a ton of games with a reasonable spec PC, and the games are more affordable than ever too.
Playing Abzu right now, it's really great. Has a very laid back feel, lots of Journey and Flower vibes. Sound design is great, the environments are awesome, and some cool moments so far. Controls take a little getting used to but overall it's great, try it out.
Yea I think I’m going to pull the trigger soon. I’ve been looking at compact builds, but micro atx and mini itx x570 motherboards seem to be hard to find right now.
You’re going to get the best bang for your buck with as ATX build in a mid tower—as well as parts availability. Hope you’re using Pcpartpicker.
Yup. That website is pretty clutch for toying with different builds. It’s a little overwhelming the amount of choices.
Yeah I like to look at peoples customs and sort by the individual part to see what it’s being paired with. It worked well and I learned a lot from my last build.
My buddies surprised me with one of our buddies old custom gaming PCs I'll post the specs later, just glad to be able to pc game again it has been about 11 months.
Got my old rig up and running in the past couple weeks. Had to replace the power supply and upgrade my old video card to a 1660TI. you need to look into Valorant(Riots new FPS). I started a thread for it.
Was messing around with a build: Could take out the CPU fan, as the AMD comes with one. Would also add some case fans from NZXT, but they didn't have the price included on pcpartpicker.
Similar to one I’ve been thinking about except I’m looking at the Ryzen 5 3600 and potentially an mitx mobo and case. Tried to pull the trigger earlier this week on the 2070 super, but Best Buy wouldn’t let me complete the buy online.
I’d like to start buying it piece by piece. How long before it’ll need upgraded? My buddy can put it together for me. Buying it prebuilt from so,e of the bigger sites is like $200 more.
With that setup you should be good for years before programs stress the cpu and gpu to their limits. The mobo should be fine for a while unless amd changes their cpu format away from am4.
i spent about that on one a few years ago and havent felt the need to upgrade anything yet except MORE MONITORS
Here’s the build I’m about to start. I don’t really need it now, but I figure I can upgrade that later never mind. I thought you were quoting me
I really want to get into vr, so I’ll probably get that stuff first then a monitor. New pc was step one.
I have this monitor and really like it. ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 27" Gaming Monitor, 1440P WQHD (2560 x 1440), IPS, 165Hz (Supports 144Hz), G-SYNC, Eye Care, DisplayPort Adjustable Ergonomic I use to game at 4K 60fps but the 4K was too demanding even for my 1080Ti. I backed down to 1440p 165fps (monitor above) and it’s a game changer. The extra FPS is worth every penny.
Yea I went to the one in Marietta. It was pretty cool and the guy helping me was actually knowledgeable about the products. Plus there were a few hot gamer girls in there too, so that was nice.
I was going to recommend that exact one for you but i thought you might be out of town. Got my video card and power supply there couple weeks ago. Dangerous store to go to.
Finished Ignore the messy setup, I travel often and I was trying to get this done so I can bring it with me. I definitely need to get a desk and monitor when I’m home more.
Not sure yet. I’m open to suggestions. I only had enough time yesterday to get it running and download drivers and some basic software. This will be the first pc I overclock, so I need to do a little more research before I go much further. I’ve only had a console for the last 10-15 years, so a lot has changed since my last build.
