I don't think he even cares. He got the stadium rebuilt he is good. The team has holes all over the field. Amazing how quickly it all fell apart.
There is gonna be 15-20k empty seats next week I live in San Jose and my friends literally can't even give their tickets away
good fuck jed york - can't wait until people start punting on their tix/not paying their PSL's - make the niners hunt you down for the cash. fuck them
It's not all on York. Baalke didn't replenish the talent pool and harbaugh picked Kaepernick over Smith stupidly. Also no team can recover from losing two hall of famers and one of their very talented replacements in an off-season Ownership should just shut the fuck up though and not railroad people in the media
I agree although I think there was a certain ceiling with Smith, although you called it on Kaep kea. In the end York needs to stop going in the media and holding his head held high when he thinks he is in the right. Baalke missed on the last few drafts more than he hit but he had some tremendous drafts before and at the beginning of the Harbaugh regime. They just need to hit the reset button unfortunately.
Alex Smith should have been benched for Kap. Alex is a game manager at his absolute best. Would much rather have rolled the dice on Kap and someone with his unique physical talent. If you think he has looked bad recently, try and imagine Alex behind this OL with no rushing attack. Alex couldn't even complete a pass to a WR when he went to the NFC Championship game against the Giants, and he did the same shit in KC (how long did that streak in the regular season go without hitting a WR for a TD?). Kap began his career at a level Alex has never come close to sniffing. He definitely trended downward last two seasons, but no QB in this league would look good playing with the Niners this year the way the team is built (or not built).
It's funny to listen to Dilfer constantly change sides so he can side with whoever the Baalke/York want to blame. For 3 years, nothing but positive stuff about everyone, but especially every move Baalke made. Then, as soon as the York/Baalke duo soured on Harbaugh, it was all about how Harbaugh lost the team, and Harbaugh/Roman ruined Kaepernick by asking him to do all these things he couldn't do. Now, York/Baalke sour on Kaepernick, and "the coaching staff is dialing up all these great plays but Kaep is terrible". I look forward to him turning on Tomsula whenever York/Baalke give him the signal whenever that goes down. I'm not cheering against you guys or anything. Last year following the Harbaugh stuff made me fascinated by the leaks coming from your FO and Dilfer's man crush on your top guys, and now I can't stop following it.
Alex Smith had the niners two fumbled punts away from the super bowl with no side receivers. He didn't complete any passes to them because they were horrible. And the niners had a generationally good defense and didn't need someone like Kaepernick. Harbaugh thought if he put his brain into Kaepernicks body he'd be hof but that isn't possible
Alex had the same WRs that Kap took to the Superbowl. I know we all blame Kyle Williams for those fumbles and rightfully so, but Alex sucked in that game. If the offense does anything, we win that game. You think Alex gets us past GB twice in the playoffs? I doubt it, even though he shocked us all with his great play against NO. Alex is a game manager and Kap was playing at a gamechanger level for a good while. Again, you really want to see Alex playing in this offense now? I honestly don't know any Niners fans who give a shit about Alex related to Kap. That move was a no-brainer.
The QB call was absolutely the right call - alex smith is the definition of average. Now Kaep has def regressed, but jesus h christ, if you can't see the decline of the team the last few years, then you're blind as fuck. York wanted all the credit, was threatened by Harbaugh, and did everything in his power to get him out of town. Last year's team had as much talent as anyone in the league, and the behind the scenes shit fucked everything up. Jed got his stadium, got his cash, backed out of a land deal to build soccer fields for kids, surrounded himself with fall guys, now tries to manipulate the media in possibly the most transparent way possible, and has now setup Kaep, Tomsula, and whoever else as the fall guys so that he can wipe his hands of everything. Fuck him forever.
No they definitely had a better receiving corps for Kaepernick. Also in the short term Kaep worked fine, but he got figured out by the league. You don't need a flashy qb with a cannon when you have one of the best o lines in football and one of the best defenses that ever stepped on the field. Alex is a smart player and was the right choice. Kaepernick has had bad protection for a couple games after having great protection for years and is shell shocked now. Smith got injured twice because of his line and was one of the most sacked qbs in the league and never broke or bitched or acted/looked like some Armenian-hinduwigger cockboy. Why do you think they tried to get Smith to stay with the team, but let him go because he demanded a trade? They knew Kaepernick would get exposed
You make some points but I think they are all wrong. I award you no points and may the god of your choosing have mercy on your soul.
All I'm saying is I've made the same argument since Kaep took over. I wish I had been wrong I'd rather be wrong in this case :/
Jesus christ can we put an end to the fucking Kaep over Smith move. It was the right move. Whole god damn franchise needs a change from top to bottom. I still can't believe we hired this joke of a coach.
Couldn't get this to copy and paste but pretty good article by Peter King who was inside the 9ers draft room: http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/05/01/...aft-room-bears-trade-reuben-foster-peter-king For as great as Harbaugh was, this is probably the most cohesive unit the 9ers have had in leadership since the dynasty fell apart. Who the hell knows if it will amount to anything on the field but a nice change of pace.
It is really nice and reassuring that it seems like we have a functioning front office again, hopefully we are competitive next 2-3 years
I'm pretty annoyed, Lynch actually seems to know what he's doing. It was fun not having to worry about either the 49ers or the Rams for a couple years there. The team is a ways away on the field, but they know that and drafted and moved accordingly. Shows a cohesive plan, which is all you can really ask for since there are no draft savants that have a magic touch. It's all about the number of chances. Beathard sucks and was a complete waste of a pick, literally the worst QBASE numbers Football Outsiders ever had for a near top 100 pick(and not exactly Mahomes like in talent either), but the first 3 picks look like cornerstone type players. Which, again, is really annoying
and now you guys can let everyone else fight for a QB in the draft and sit back and let a Solomon Thomas come to you again #ShanahanLynch2020
Not gonna lie, not having to worry about which likely QB bust we are gonna pick is pretty fucking nice. Gimme Minkah Fitzpatrick anyways.
I know he hasn't faced a murderers row or anything, but this dude looks 100% legit. So excited about the trajectory of this team and could easily see us competing for a wild card spot as soon as next year. Lots of picks and a ton of cap space. Extend Jimmy G and maybe even trade back from the top 10 this year now that we don't need to reach for a QB.
Jimmy + Shanny is gonna be legit for years to come. Lynch seems very well versed in how to play the draft/fa's. Thomas hasn't been great, but Foster is a star, they have extra picks again, and tons of cap. Few moves away from being legit as long as Fuckboi Jed shuts the fuck up and stays outta the way
Curious what Lynch does in the draft. More happy guys are playing well and gaining momentum heading to next year. Hopefully Jed sits back and relaxes with Kyle and Lynch running the show.
Who positional groups do you forsee us targeting in the draft? Feels like we need a #1 WR, pass rusher, and a secondary piece or two.
Id like an upgrade at the Guard position too and maybe a tackle to develop along with that you mentioned......possibly an RB too if we don’t resign Hyde
Fuck Foster he’s always going to be a sack of shit, cut him loose now before we go down another Aldon Smith road......obviously can’t depend on this punk
So jimmys done for the year. Only positive I see out of this is maybe we limp our way into a top 5 draft spot, team could use some talent on the offensive side of the ball. Also recapping the games I know we lost both games but we had serious shots of winning the Vikings game had we not fumbled on the 1 and thrown a pick 6. In the chiefs game we were making a comeback and got completely fucked on that offensive PI call.
If we land a top five spot we need to grab the best pass rusher available. This draft should be loaded. I’d love some offensive talent for sure, especially a monster WR, but pass rush is where this team is lacking the most. Get a Nick Bosa or Clelin Ferrell to go with DeFo and now we’re talking.
Yea a good pass rusher would be great also. Honestly I think we have a good shot at the #1 pick, the two games with the cardinals will be big.
