Has the current president ever been the oldest living president before? Besides George Washington.
Still building houses for people in need in his late 90’s. What a great man.
Evangelicals ditching a legit good man, who practices the teachings of Christ, for an evil Reagan bc he offered them a taste of power and influence is the turning point in this country IMO.
Og Bernie bro
This country would be a 1000 times better if he’d won. Fuck Reagan so much.
Oh, we pre-purchasing burial plots now on TMB just to get the scoop?
I love how the absolute fact that the Reagan campaign (and the GOP in general) colluded with the Iranians to hold the hostages until after the election (in exchange for weapons supplied through Israel) never gets a single mention in the history books.
Carter started making Americans think hard about their consumption and it's sustainability and impact but the American people wanted none of it
We deserve everything we get.
The objectively only good person to hold the office
Yep, it's one of the sickest things done by a campaign. Fuck that evil evil piece of shit, he is burning in hell.
Absolutely wild and you have to be intentional about even learning it
he put solar panels on the White House in 78. So far ahead of his time man.
Hope he has a peaceful final few days/weeks/months surrounded by his loved ones.
well scooby doo can doo doo but jimmy carter is smarter
Evangelicals would reject Jesus Christ himself if he was running for president on a platform based on his beliefs.
the only president since lincoln (maybe ever?) who shouldn’t have been sent to face a firing squad.
It's funny the reputation Carter has as president as he's thought of as one of our worst but you'll see Regan in tons of people's top 10
Lmao great heel turn
really hope Trump skips the funeral.
he won’t be invited so hopefully he tries to crash it
I figure with how Carter is and I'm assuming how he raised those around him, they'd consider it the Christian thing to do (to invite Trump). as a former president, it does tend to break a lot of protocols and I'm concerned that he'll go simply for the optics since he's trying to win again although now that I say that, Carter was essentially the devil to Trump's base so snubbing a funeral invite would probably be something they love.
Worth reading his words pre-Iraq War
That is fucking wild
It’s wild that Joe is still holding on to what hair he has when this is what he started with
Pretty good insider type book from Carter’s chief of staff largely focused on the Iran negotiations
Damn. Almost no one was against it at the time. That's nuts
I know, right? Blue Ohio? GTFO.
Joe looks 14 foot tall in that picture.
“Tell them about that malarkey Joe”
He may not have been one of the best presidents, but he was one of the best people to be president.
Always think about this description of him by the Onion
“Thirty-ninth president of the United States, whose four years in office were somehow the least impressive of his entire life. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, prosperous farmer, nuclear engineer, reformist, and governor of Georgia prior to becoming president in 1977, Carter strangely hit the most pronounced lull in his career during his single term as the nation’s chief executive. While his presidency was marked by occasional successes such as the Camp David Accords, Carter’s professional life really took off again when he left office. In these years, he founded a human rights nonprofit that won him the Nobel Peace Prize, went on international diplomatic missions, and became the public face of Habitat for Humanity, worthy accomplishments that made his four years as president of the United States a blip in an otherwise distinguished lifetime of public service.”
It’s amazing how he is belittled and you’re made to feel he was a terrible potus and absolutely made fun off. Good people aren’t supposed have that much power and aren’t supposed to remain good when they get it. He could have made this country as good as it pretends to be. I can’t explain how much I hate Reagan.
In a different world OPEC flexing it's muscles plus the Iran-Iraq War (literally pointless and cost millions of lives plus economic harship for all involved) would've invigorated the push for clean energy and anything but relying on the Middle East. Instead thanks to Reagan we just kicked the can down the road.
We were pretty much doomed in Iran (house of cards) long before Carter took office, like so much of the Middle East one is stuck trying to find logical solutions to illogical issues.
He got the jab but you won't hear about that on CNN
John Stockton is 100% sure the vaccine is why a 98 year old man died. No one under the age of 98 died before Fauci and Soros invented the vaccine.
It's just wild how solar or whatever was never championed as "patriotic US energy". Reagan actively killing that innovation to prop up Middle East dictators is never menionted in the "history books", very interesting.
Well if they're anything like the history books I had they're just now maybe mentioning that 9-11 thing.
History stopped around Vietnam in my AP US History course a little over 15 years ago as I recall.
You were probably around this more (calling you old Beo), but I know the Orange (County) Curtain was absolutely suffocating in the 80s. It was basically a runaway freight train of ideals that bled to all of California in the 80s.
You're not wrong, pretty much learned everything about the Gulf War from an excellent PBS Frontline and other random stuff. It's just wild how mid 90s Cheney (wanna say filmed in 94/95) was accurately predicting everything that could go wrong if we'd gone all the way to Baghdad in 91. Schwarzkopf compared it to a dinosaur in a tar pit. And of course we just assumed everything would be okay because reasons.
Are there any books on all this?
