right and if that was the end of the show then i'd get it use that to set him up for the movie where he truly becomes the horror but a season 2 of this show would just be a shitty character for 8 hours with any small chance of hope/empathy is removed
You would definitely have to change the tone/feel of it. I could see maybe a season centering around Harvey Dent trying to take him down.
Absolutely have a love:hate relationship with that ending. Loved Vic and wanted to root for Oz but damn that now.
I stopped having empathy for her when she murdered her entire family and put her now orphaned niece in basically they same kind of place that made her a monster.
Well that was just some great tv. Not sure I would change anything. I would prefer we get penguin in a movie next
To be honest I trust Reeves decision on a possible 2nd season more than your idea that it would be shitty based on absolutely nothing at all… take a step back and enjoy the season of TV for what it is. is he truly gonna “become the horror” in Batman 2? He’ll be the same POS backstabbing murderer that we know him to be. He’ll be the kingpin of all the mafia and drug trade. Not sure what “the horror” is that you’re imagining in your head though. I’d think there’s a chance we get Mayor Oswald Cobb in Batman 2. They did a whole lot of “man of the people” talk in this season
this would be a cool idea. I do agree there would need to be a hell of a story that develops in Batman 2 to have a 2nd season of Penguin where he’s the only major character that the average viewer is familiar with. We’ll see if and when that happens
show was awesome, but my one complaint is I really hate the actor that plays Julian Rush. it's mostly from other shows, but every time he's on screen I get annoyed.
wish I could have went through the show with the thread but I was late to the party and binged the whole thing in the past week or so. put me down for loving the decision to have Oz go full villain.
Ummm what https://www.reddit.com/r/TheBatmanFilm/s/8dqRp3pDoh Edit: can’t link reddit anymore? It’s the syringe glove and mask in Julian Rush’s office
I watched 2 episodes and got to the 3rd and had to stop. Episode 1 was good. Episode 2 was not good. Beginning of episode 3 was the same. It's a grind and a drag. The show is just very linear, the gangster drama minutia is boring, the crazy mob daughter is not interesting . Not dynamic. Colin Farrell is the only redeeming part of the show. Does it get a lot better?
I'm not as high on it as everyone else but it's still good. I just don't think it's great or something I would rewatch. If you like the characters and world then it's worth watching.
and from one of the best/smartest posters whose opinions on every subject are fully nuanced and well thought out. Shocking.
Gump I will fight you if you talk about Sophia like that again. Hate the show all you want but lines must be drawn.
Finally watched this Fuck Oswald so much Vic deserved better. I guess knowing it’s supposed to be a single season that makes sense. I kinda hope there isn’t a second season.
Episode 1 -solid Episode 2-mediocre Episode 3-struggled but got through it Episode 4-very solid Episode 5-very solid Episode 6-very solid I had to just keep pushing through. They could have done what they wanted to accomplish in episodes 2 and 3 without making it such a slog
Just finished it myself. Even if you thought some of the plot dragged, the acting was so fantastic it didn’t even matter
Finished it this week: I give it somewhere between a B and a B+. Definitely worth watching and will definitely watch Season 2. Colin Farrell with a pretty epic performance. Rhenzy Feliz as Victor was also extremely good. The Penguin is an extremely fucked up character. I find him to be far more fucked up than the Joker in the movies. We never got much of a background on the Joker. It's the Penguin's back story that really drives home for the viewer that this guy is a sociopath of the highest magnitude. Spoiler Killing Victor made me so sad. I still have not recovered. Usually shows try to get you to like the bad guy . I.e. Tony Soprano etc. How can you like Oz or pull for him after knowing what he did to his brothers and Victor?
I love that they didn’t give you a reason to like the character. That’s too easy to write, let’s give you a great story, but earn zero sympathy for the character.
