That is correct, but if I started putting videos on Youtube today, no one would watch them precisely because there are so many other options and people watch their well known streamers. I think you're wrong about people knowing Medium but that's ok, and I can't change their platform to suddenly do video. I'm not saying it is the best thing out there, the pay is absolute shit, but it lets me build a portfolio and I reach way more people through that platform than I would otherwise. SuperJump get's 60K views per month, which isn't a lot compared to some I'm sure, but it's the best platform for me right now, it gets my work seen and actively promoted, and that's cool with me.
why read when i can listen while doing other things. i like multitasking. you cant multitask and read. it feels so unproductive.
I can read while I watch a show, or have conversation with someone while reading an article. Can’t do either when watching a video imo
Pretty sure he’s just trying to help oneknight out by adding an avenue through which he can get his name out there. If we’re helping by clicking on his articles, then we can help by clicking on his videos as well.
Idk, seems like you’d be rereading lines and not paying enough attention actually recall the points of the conversation. I guess if my wife is speaking about something and I have 10% of my attention span listening for the rising lilt in her voice indicating a question, then sure, but that’s not really doing two things at once effectively.
I also like both of those things but I do them in different places like my car. If I’m at home and watching tv or just hanging out with my wife, it’s easier for me to read than it is to turn a podcast on while we’re just sitting down or if we’re watching a show. A variety of media formats work better in different every day situations imo.
i dont watch film or tv anymore, particularly anything in a language i dont speak. i once enjoyed pans labyrinth though.
Thanks everyone for the conversation, you all make really good points and it has me thinking of making videos just with me reading the articles and somehow like a slideshow of images of whatever the article is about
if its about a game you could record some gameplay, that seems like the popular thing to do. some just play trailers of the game in the background. additionally, if you'd like to start a podcast, i would gladly do it with you. people tell me i have a good radio/barry white voice. so theres probably some appeal there.
yeah, I need to look into how to capture PS4 gameplay onto my PC, playing trailers would probably be the easiest. Not sure I have the time for a podcast but I'll keep it and your dulcet tones in mind.
capture card also there may be a way to upload from ps4 to youtube, download it to pc, edit, then upload but i am not 100% on that
I can't take any individual review seriously from any website unless you know a particular reviewer/writer who you learn has the same tastes as you. Otherwise...it's just one random person's opinion who was paid to give it. People may not like metacritic and it has some valid criticisms but I use that more than just any individual site. I'm sure IGN reviews are ok depending on genre/reviewer.
I don’t love metacritic since they’ll factor in 10 different regionalized IGN scores and foreign publications score shit really high from what I’ve seen. I’ll usually take a look at American IGN, Gamespot, and GameInformer to understand the biases from the big boys and then see what Destructoid, Polygon, and Kinda Funny have to say about it.
Yeah that's one of the MC criticisms...plus just how the final score is calculated I know has been controversial or that scores don't update post-launch if a reviewer changes it after a patch fixes issues or something like that. (at least thats how it used it be). But I just use it as a guide to see general reaction vs any one site. I like Kinda Funny and Operation Sports also if it's just a sports game. I've always found GameInformer as reasonable but I may be bias since I subscribed to that actual magazine for so long.
I decided that any publication that openly gagged on Rockstars cock after RDR2 cannot be trusted and is an enemy
plenty of things. death metal, cheese, australian football, nick saban, etc. what do you like other than getting offended by my opinions on video games?
i typically stay away from reviews because i prefer to establish my own opinion, but i like jim sterling, skill up, and acg A LOT.
thats fine if you are buying a game anyway...but for those of us with more limited gaming time I need some indication that its worth it. same for rotten tomatoes.
