Just started Horizon Dawn. This intro with the Viking looking dude and the baby is pretty cool. Visual is top notch.
That handheld is going to be a huge flop. Apparently it doesn’t even have Bluetooth support, only works with official PS headsets.
from everything ive read it just seems to be a remote play device. Seems dumb if that was actually accurate.
Now that the Steamdeck and similar products exist, I'm not sure anything could convince me to buy a handheld console from either Sony, MS, or Nintendo. I'd rather just have their subscription services available on PC, so I could play them on the same handheld.
That's what's great about the steamdeck! Can get xbox cloud gaming, PS Remote play, and can even get blizzard's launcher installed. Downside is horrendous battery life. Nearly have to play plugged in. Also, of course, the whole cloud gaming thing.
Sea of Stars looks incredible and is getting rave reviews, if you're into that sort of game. Free on Game pass (already on there) and plus (tomorrow)
So it’s a $200 remote play accessory. The only thing it does that (unless they’ve changed it) remote play on a different device doesn’t is the ability to play outside your home network. I really don’t understand the appeal. It’s also kinda fugly
I'm going to play it tonight when i get off work. I just platinumed Ancestors: Humankind and it was an amazing game that was unique. I actually platinumed it and then played the whole game over again, which I don't think I've ever done outside of Skyrim. You play as a monkey and try to evolve from year 10million BC to ~1.8m BC. The exploration is fun because you have a constant fear of dying and no map. I also played Curse to Golf (free) which is a roguelite golf game. It was impossibly hard at first, but now that I have the hang of it, I want to beat all 18 holes.
Working on Armored Core 6 right now, and it's also an incredible experience. I had always wondered what the humankind game was like. No map adds so much more to games by making you be more aware of your surroundings instead of a dot on a minimap imo. For some reason the cursed golf game sounds familiar, prolly from cohh or skillup as that seems right up their alley
I just couldn’t get into this, I need a little more hand holding than this game was willing to give. I was very excited about the concept, just didn’t love the execution.
Wanted to like the Texas chainsaw massacre game but just can’t 3-4 game in a row I’ve been excited for that was disappointing.
Once you get out of the first area, you're good. My problem was getting past the predators. There's sound cue's you need to use and I guess you don't hear them right away when being attacked by animals. The attack/Defend/counter wasn't explained well at all. The rest was designed to not hold your hand. I was frustrated as hell the first couple hours, but once I got the hang of it, it was great. Using rock formations, areas without trees, and certain massive trees as reference points was really cool. I learned to just breed and evolve as much as you want because the only way you lose is if all your monkeys die.
Dead by Daylight is a good horror game. It’s online but you can play as a survivor or the killer (Leatherface, Freddy, Pinhead, etc). So the 3 survivors are trying to escape and obviously the killer is trying to kill them all. I downloaded it for free off PS Plus a few years ago but it’s fun. The Evil Dead game is the same way.
Thank goodness Sony is providing us with a dogshit portable whatever the fuck and all this really neat VR shit that us gamers have been clamoring for. Really justifying this insane price hike with absolute dumb shit decision making
Maybe they are seeing a lot of people attempting remote play and want to make a device for it. problem is it feels rushed and not part of the original strategy for the system. So can’t think it succeeds but maybe enough people get it to break even. Who knows.
I had JUST upgraded to it, expires in March. Need to play as many games as I can until then lol. Downloaded Horizon Zero Dawn because I just never played it for some reason.
Loved The End, but from a stylistic and emotional standpoint, i thought the Big Boss fight was actually better. Finally playing Elden Ring so I have a feeling something from there might get into my list too.
Schreier quick to throw up the full court press for unity without even verifying the details of this death threat that definitely 100% happened.
There shouldn't be death threats but their pricing model is essentially a death threat to the career of gamedevs who use their engine. Fuck them.
Yeah my son had a hot minute with that game and it was fucking bizarre and hilarious at the same time.
I'll hold out full analysis until I play it but near-seamless interchanges between locations and characters should be benchmarks for all next gen games going forward.
