I hit this wall also, and just haven’t picked it back up. I appreciate the quality of the GOW games, but I just kind of came to the conclusion that the series just isn’t for me I don’t think.
I left the Witch's hut and made it to the area revealed when you revive Jormungandr. I get it that the game is very much in its early stages but the combat system is basic but the user interface seems very complex. Also the map isn't very helpful and I don't know if I'm missing stuff or getting all of the side materials I'm supposed to get. Also the system where you have to ring 3 bells in order to open a locked chest is super tedious.
I found the map and side missions difficult to navigate, as well. Eventually you open up fast travel, though it takes quite a bit of time to get to that point. Great game though, don't give up.
I often find that raising the difficulty in console RPG games just makes opponent HP go up and cooldowns go down Basically just faster moving hit sponges
The combat really opens up the more you get into it. His move set is somewhat basic early on but it's some of the most satisfying combat I've ever played personally.
I played on the next hardest difficulty and enjoyed the combat immensely and it only improves over time. It’s technical and incredibly visceral. I hated the combat in TW3 till I bumped up the difficulty and had to learn it proper. Maybe that’s the move
I definitely think you do yourself a disservice playing a game on a lower difficulty. Especially if you are capable of playing it on higher.
yeah if the game is easy enough that you cqn just run in and spam attack you wont ever get a feel for what combat is supposed to be
If you get enough enjoyment out of it I agree. GoW has an excellent story. But, if you find yourself getting bored with the combat it could be because it's set too easy. Just my opinion though.
I beat Kingdoms of Amalur and recommend others to give it a try. It's like an old school Skyrim. I enjoyed it a lot. It will probably be on sale in a few weeks though because it just came out about a month ago.
Like he’s 15 or something, whereas he’s supposed to be in his mid 20’s (I think?) from the storyline.
Just looking for some input. I’ve got a 10 year old son that’s all into gaming. He’s spending a fair amount of time on his PS4 now. Lots of games, VR headset, 1080 TV, etc. I’ve got a PS5 disc version and an Xbox series X on preorder. Not sure if I will keep both or just the PS5. question is: If I want to get him set up with something really cool for Christmas, what should I upgrade and do? Thinking PS5, extra controller, controller charging station, PS5 wireless headset, 43” 4K TV. Anything else? Is a 4K tv overkill? What games? I’m ok with Call of Duty if that one is cool - we talk all the time about language, violence, etc and he’s well balanced with that at 10. Fairly mature kid. Thanks for any suggestions. Just making sure I plan properly for a good Christmas.
I’ll buy the Xbox off you if choose to sell Also your son has a fantastic dad. That list of stuff is mind blowing for a Christmas gift.
I don’t think so. Don’t know what kind of money you are wanting to spend but I’d def get one with HDR. Also I still remember my dad surprising me with a PS2 for Christmas when they came out. I was like the only kid in my grade that got one. Anyway it was my first Christmas my parents were separated and I still remember it like it was yesterday. These things stick with kids into adulthood. Good on you dude
Are you looking to adopt another son? I just turned 32. but yeah, I think a 4K tv is a must with the graphical output of the next gen consoles.
LOL. Not right now. I was 40 when he was born. For the first 7 years of his life he reminded me daily I was too old for another kid. After that, he's chilled out. Another kid - even a 32 year old one would probably kill me. Once your kids get much older it's hard to blow their minds with an over the top Christmas. This might be the last year to do so. So he may get an XBox S-X and a PS5... Just because I want that "daaamn, Santa might actually be real" look on his face. But thanks for the input on a TV to run it all nicely.
You'd need a 4k to really get everything out of it but he's also 10. Maybe split a couple things up for future gifts? Just gives you more things. Make it a year-long project ... TV on birthday for example. Don't necessarily need it all on day 1 Also with the horsepower you should add sound system. Unless he just wears headphones 99% of the time
interesting since last id read WB had pulled the games division off the market. Will be interesting to follow.
What the fuck I had to save up money from odd jobs to buy a PS2 and FFX then beg my parents to buy a memory card because I forgot it was needed. Left my FFX game running on pause for several days.
First game I got for ps1 was mgs1 and didn't have a memory card either. Shit was like 50 first dates where I'd play the game get as far as I possibly could then have to start all over from scratch. Got pretty efficient at it and kept making it further and further each time. Those that are familiar with mgs1 know that there's a torture scene about mid way that if you fail there are no continues so you have to either save before hand or just don't fail otherwise you're shit outta luck. That shit almost broke me but luckily I was already hardened and battle tested because of the sega genesis days. This particular level was the WOAT Spoiler
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I think it was you that was interested in it when I posted about it a month or so ago. I'm playing through it again (beat it twice on ps3 back in the day) but not binging it. I'm honestly a little disappointed that not much was done to it in the "remaster". The graphics are almost the same..which I wasn't too surprised about...but mostly I was disappointed by the ps3 era load times. It was my one annoyance about it back then and it's the same now. Still a great underrated RPG though. Recommend it to anyone that's into that type of game. I think they're making a new one for next year. So that's probably why not much time was taken to " upgrade" this one.
