Draugr pit followed by the Revenant + Heavy Draugrs fight before meeting Brok made me question my sanity for a good 2 hours.
Yup and keep in mind I beat Sigrun with just fists and shield, and I got way more frustrated with that Draugr pit.
I downloaded it off PS Now. I played LEGO Incredibles w the wife tonight. Really fun. I platinumed days gone a few weeks ago. I’m gonna play Spider-Man next. if you download a PS Now game and then they take it off (like Spider-Man) can you still play it?
Nice. Spider-Man is so fun especially once you get used to the swinging (doesn't take long) etc. I think if psnow removes a game, you lose access. But I don't think it's like Netflix where stuff is removed all the time
A lot of good games under $10 on the PS store. Far cry 4 is $6 Dragon age Inquisition $5 Adventures of van helsing $5 (diablo style game, hidden gem in my opinion) Adventures of van helsing 2 is under $5 Titan quest Wolfenstein Mad Max Batman arkham Knight Not all Hall of famers, but $5-$10 winners
I've started writing on Medium and have had a couple articles published in their video game publication, Superjump. If anyone wants to check them out, here's the links for non-members. If you're a member, I'd appreciate you looking at them through there as it helps my stats.
Started playing Spiderman yesterday. Thanks for the suggestion. It took me a while to get the hang of webbing(?) across the city and the fact that dodging is priority. Beautiful game. I've never been to NYC, but after playing this, I definitely want to visit. How close is it to the real Manhattan(I think that's the borough this is based in)?
It's really close. My son has played through Spidey about 4 times, we were going to visit NYC before the pandemic got in the way, and he was playing through it again to remember the places he wanted to visit. I've been to the city twice and it's amazing.
Manhattan is obviously much larger and the financial district/world trade center area looks nothing like that plus you have things like avengers tower and other marvel landmarks so its not super realistic but probably as close as you're gonna get in a game like that. I also recall a youtube video detailing that this is the biggest version of new New York in video game to date. Edit: Couldn't find the actual video but here are some others that compare
Hmm, I thought it was essentially Monster Hunter with some other things mixed in. Very good game but I didn't think it was groundbreaking. But everyone views things differently as well.
I hadn't played a monster hunter game before HZD so thats probably why. But having played monster hunter world since then I think HZD is much more seamless and fluid than monster hunter.
I mean they’re similar gameplay wise. Traps and bombs and crafting and enemy weak points etc. it’s just that MH is trash and hzd is not roll tide
Whole lot of terrible takes on Monster Hunter. It’s much more similar to Dark Souls and Bloodborne than anything else. In fact, it pretty much inspired every game along those lines. Plus, there’s 14 weapons to choose from, so not really a single play style. But it’s also a game where if you take the time to “get it”, then it’s an incredibly fun game. If anyone is thinking about playing it, I would be happy to help out. It’s probably my favorite game on PS4.
you didnt even play mhw, stop talking out of your ass. not only does hzd play and feel drastically different than mhw, but the fucking bow on mhw doesnt even feel like hzd.
Despite all the similarities, this is why HZD isn’t trash. I’m not saying they’re clones but they’re really similar. HZD feels much better and more responsive but there’s definitely some mechanical similarities in both games. I’ve got 20-30 hours on mhw I’d assume. That’s probably as much as I do HZD
It obviously doesn't cover all of it but the areas it chooses to replicate, it does a good job. I spend (errr...spent) a lot of time in NYC for work and I recognize certain areas as I go through them...but then the area next to it isn't there/right if that makes sense. So think of it as a series of landmarks with some filler in between. But the landmarks feel accurate. Some areas around Grand Central feel exact which is cool as I would walk around those areas a lot.
hzd "feels" better because it always you to dodge cancel anything so people who want to learn less about the game can still play it
I bought it and played for a few hours. It's hard copy, so I should have traded it in, but I have hopes of getting back and playing it. It just wasn't that fun to me.
But really any game will have similarities with other games. Unless you try to make a FedEx simulation like Death Stranding.
In all honesty, it’s a difficult game to just pick up and play. There is A LOT to the game. Like, an overwhelming amount of stuff to take in when you first start. And the game doesn’t hold your hand, either, which was a problem for a lot of the Western audience who is used to a simple introduction and tutorial of moves, etc. In MHW, the 50 - 60 hour story is basically the tutorial. Also, choosing the right weapon to fit your play style is a HUGE part of the enjoyment factor. I started playing dual blades, then switched to long sword, then to bow, then to switch axe until I finally got to lance and that weapon just clicked with me and really got me into the game. But I’m also a masochist when it comes to grindy games. If you’re thinking about picking it up again, I highly recommend it. PSN is ACHIEVER76 if you’d like a helping hand.
I really enjoy MHW when I get to play it with a friend. I like the dual blades, but the big sword is fun to dismember with, it's just so slow, resulting in a lot of misses for me.
Yeah, great sword and charge blade have really high damage potential with the trade-off being leaving yourself vulnerable, over-committing or just being completely left out of position. But when you see those big numbers pop, it’s immensely satisfying. That’s another thing I love about the game, is that it’s incredibly well balanced. No weapon is going to greatly outperform any other weapon (unless you’re a speed runner, in which case the bowguns are ridiculously OP). Cantaperme92 is a great Twitch streamer to watch when he’s doing viewer requests for weapons. Dude can play every weapon at a god tier level.
Yeah when you get the web slinging timing down (along with that move where you shoot the webbing straight ahead), you can really start going fast and do some fun combos. I spent a ton of time just swinging around and getting all the city photos and backpacks, etc. Those fat thug guys are a pain in the ass
Thinking about buying at this price....good game? https://www.cdkeys.com/playstation-network-psn/psn-games/horizon-zero-dawn-ps4-us-ca-cd-key
i probably should finish hzd at some point. i guess thats true about a lot of games, but i have one story mission left and probably 10 hours for the plat.
People getting mad about having a woman protagonist....shit blows my mind. Aloy was an amazing character.
