Horizon is a solid 8.75 a memorable piece of art that will stick with you for a few days Bloodborne is a fucking 10.75 that will haunt your dreams and bring you memories that last a lifetime
For once i have actually played both games extensively. Overall bloodborne is better, but the peak of hzd got a stronger reaction from me.
Finally beat Detroit. Really enjoyed the variability in the options. Most interactive narratives have decisions that don't really matter. Looking at you tell tale. For Detroit though it really felt like every choice you made had an impact. If cyberpunk has that much variability (as they claim it will ) on top of actually compelling gameplay as opposed to nonstop QTE's then it's really gonna be the best game of all time. I can't wait.
That was my main concern with going away from physical. I actually like seeing my collection. But I do not like having to change discs between games. Teamdigitalteam
HZD > Bloodborne I loved Bloodborne but its not drastically different from any of the dark souls games. HZD is literally a one of a kind experience / Trustypatches hateshield engaged
HZD is an 8.75/10 game at best. There is absolutely nothing about that game that makes it stand out from the crowd. I stand with TrustyPatches on this.
I mean, it’s a good game that’s beautiful and can be awe inspiring but I just can’t see lumping it into the same category as a masterpiece like BB. Probably 60% of hzd content is collecting. It’s an 85 mc game while BB is a 93.
Will def be doing Bloodborne after HZD, then GoW silly Uncharted can sit over there in the corner and wait
I love blood borne and it may be in my top 5 of all time ....but I also understand why some don’t like or even hate it. It’s not for everyone. Just like tons of people love the last of us but it never clicked with me. Just not my type of game.
Bloodborne is great. Its the epitome of 3rd person action melee etc etc. Gothic horror is great. Cosmic horror is great. The world is great, branching linear but great and finely detailed. Not being forced to endure a story i dont care about is great. You just open the application, play, and get your ass handed to you, get stuck at a boss, rage quit for 9 months, then come back and wipe the floor with him. Horizon is also great. Its a new tangent in 3rd person action combat. The open world is borderline perfect and awe inspiring. The story is very linear and despite being in an open world it works. Side quests are also great because theres very few of them and they arent tedious. Theres a lot of really neat things that hadnt been done before. But the game is comically easy, maybe because i went from finishing off bloodborne immediately into horizon. Also im forced to watch cutscenes and play through a story which is pretty damn standard. Bloodborne is a much better game. Horizon has more mass appeal bc you can beat it if youre a bitch.
It took legit weeks for me to groove when I first picked up dark souls. Actually, I played it and never made it past one of the beginning areas and I threw it down in disgust. Buddy of mine asked me to pick it back up and he’s co op with me and I got an idea of how to play watching him. I think most people who put in the time to get that light to come on will find it enjoyable
I don't think there's any way I could pick BB back up and be successful. I sucked at it when I first played it and knew most of the controls; just imagine how bad I'd be now.
Nothing wrong with that. I enjoy the stylized combat and atmosphere of BB better. I still love Dark Souls and if I were to rank I’d probably put Dark Souls above BB tbh but I love them both equally kinda like my kids except there’s the one kid I love a little more than the other but still the same
I just love the wider variety of builds in Dark Souls. I remember PvPing people and just being amazed at how creative some were in combining different weapons/skills. This one guy built his character to look exactly like Zeus and was just hammering down lightning strikes at me with lightning spear.
PvP is why I’d put DS above BB. PvP in BB is incredibly unbalanced and just not fun. Chalice Dungeon diving for runes that give people one shot builds kills the fun. It was enjoyable in the early parts but the rune meta killed it. Dark Souls (I hope we’re talking part one here) as a whole was more fun to me but vanilla BB is a better game
