Lmao the awkward silence after Tarantino told bill Michele Rodriguez was a main character in one of his movies
He desperately wants to sit at the cool kids table I never listen to the pods with Wesley Morris (looks like I was right to, he sucks) but listened to yesterday's. After building up how Bill's Top 10 movies of the year list was going to be different from all the critics, he not only ended up having the same 6 movies that everyone else praises, he says 1917 will probably be in his top 7 without having even seen it yet.
listening to a Gwyneth Paltrow fanboy squeal "OOooooOOOoooOhh" after every movie Bill says he likes was audio death
Mallory is very good on his pod. Every week. Helps that she often talks nfl and she actually b enjoys CFB
mina kimes is one of the best personalities in sports imo. really smart, can do normal sports talk and analytics talk. can do homer/fan stuff of her seahawks but also talk about everyone else. wish she was at the ringer. i've listened to ~5 bill simmons sports podcasts over the last 2 months but that one was a must download.
I auto delete million dollar picks but I guess I might check that one out since the feedback is so good.
Mina going to The Ringer would suck, why do you wish that? Would limit her exposure greatly, and she’s one of the absolute best things going.
I guess i need to give him another chance. He was so bad early on that I stopped listening to his pods.
because i listen to a bunch of ringer content and don't consume espn content? i only found out yesterday she had a daily espn podcast (which is way too much) and i listened to a couple of episodes and didn't find it that interesting. i would assume she also makes guest appearances on other espn pods and tv spots but, again, nothing would stop her from doing that in theory and i don't watch any of that, anyways.
Lets run through the picks so far! 650K on Chiefs/Ravens teaser - L 200K on a parlay of Lamar/Mahomes over 1.5 TD passes each - L (House wanted to bet his home on this one, RIP House) 100K on a parlay of Tannehill/Jimmy G both throwing INTs - L 200K on Vikings +7 - L 200K on Ravens -9.5 - L 200K on Chiefs -9.5 - W 200K on Seahawks +4 - L
Mina is one of the best NFL analysts in the business and Mallory knows her shit too. Loved the part where Bill said Tannehill was a FA that could go to the Pats and mina and Mallory were both like, uhh the Titans can just franchise him. Duh Bill.
Gave the Russillo pod from yesterday a listen bc folks here have been talking up long. I’ll keep listening to these, but for the criticism that makes this thread what it is.... Long seems fine, but I always roll my eyes at anyone “playing dumb” and calling attention to 3+ syllable words they use, as some sort of comedic device. Like for what? Russillo loves mentioning the “there’s always a guy in the crew” anecdotes. On the one hand these personalities are almost always universal, so they are relatable, but when you take Russillo’s entire bit into account, he really does try hard to be funny. /end fuck this content, looking forward to next week :)
But what if you wanna know about how spurs fans feel, by comparing their emotions to main characters in Fast and Furious 1?
the game 1 results made it at least somewhat obvious but the ringer ran their jeopardy article on twitter early and spoiled it for me. with the trump story and the debate, no one else was talking about jeopardy so i thought i was safe.
Was not a fan of the break down of 1917 on the Big Picture yesterday. You could tell they all came in with an attempt to throw cold water on everything and didn't really talk about the parts of the movie that were good. They really just complained about how it wasn't as good watching it at home the 2nd time around. cool
Russillo's pod on the Bruce Lee book and author was pretty good. Didn't know a lot of his back story.
Maybe QT's portrayal of Bruce in Once Upon A Time was a little closer to real life then some wanted to believe.
I agree. I generally like the podcast a lot of but why do a 1917 podcast just to shit on it. The movie is universally liked and accepted as good.
dont think anyone knows what it would look like for us let alone vs the staff, not sure even spotify knows what they're wanting to do with adding digital media outlets like this
