Mayes in general is great, I like him with both Tice and Lindsey Jones. They do a great job breaking things down and keeping it light. I have not listened to a Clark podcast since Mayes left it.
Mayes and Tice are so much better of a fit together because they both share the same love of the minutia of football. Tice knows more and Mayes can weave the story together better. They fit like Mayes and Barnwell did except Barnwells knowledge is the data. mayes and Clark are completely opposite personalities and the fit was awkward but not quite as bad as when Rusillo had Mayes on to talk NFL and I was in literal pain from the awkwardness
Who do you all think are the best basketball ppl are at the ringer? I really only judge by the pods, because I don’t much read their site.
KOC is far and away the most knowledgeable/best writer imo. Second best NBA writer there is after Lowe
old but Bill thinking that a committee RB missing a game would have any impact on the line was nuts If Derrick Henry missed a game for the Titans, the line might move a half-point. Might.
I’m late listening to it but the Real Ones episode with Amin El Hassan on it was fantastic. Hearing stories about those old Suns teams was tremendous content
Best one they have done. Raja is the best addition to the ringer I can think of. Amin was incredible, he had no problem shitting on people when it was deserved.
I've listened to pretty much all the Marvel Binge Mode series. I've gone back and listened to decent amount of the Star Wars stuff they did now that I've seen Clone Wars and Rebels. I'm out on Mallory. I appreciate her enthusiasm for the stuff they talk about because that makes it worth listening to a lot of the times, but her shtick gets pretty old after a while.
All the sharps rode the Bucs through the playoffs. That defense was all over GB. This was not a crazy thought. I mean the line ended at -3.
He talked shit about Brady pretty much all the way until the end of the regular season and then suddenly he acted like he’s been backing him and the Bucs the whole time. Same thing with him trashing the Bills until about week 4 or 5, somehow adopting them as his best AFC team until they looked shaky in the postseason and then it was bc they were missing Zack Moss (wtf). His football takes have had zero consistency all year. Remember him wanting a 4 year $100M extension for Cam Newton after 3 weeks?
the quality of analysis is pretty stark in listening to the Ringer NFL pod this AM and the Athletic pod with Mays.
Started listening to Mays pod over the past 2 weeks. He's fantastic. Quite refreshing to hear actual analysis.
I’ve only gotten through like 15 mins and his audio isn’t good at all. Also a little odd to me considering how funny he is that the two rewatch pods he has done are No Country and Taxi Driver.
Trump may finally admit he lost the election before Bill ever drops his asinine "Durant outplayed LeBron!" take
It’s not gonna be Durant over Darko, or the Harden trade, but Tampa winning the Super Bowl is definitely going to be dropped in random pods for a while going forward.
assuming this is about the 2017 finals, i don't think that is an absurd take. i definitely understand the argument that lebron was better/durant had an easier job but KD was unbelievable in that series and i think the stats back it up.
The most ridiculous part of that segment was Simmons saying golden state was barely better than Cleveland
I typically like Kevin Clark but his comparison of unhappy European soccer players moving clubs to unhappy NFL qb’s moving around was way off.
Agreed. It's not crazy to suggest Durant was on LeBron's level (and played better than him in a playoff series) for a two-year stretch. Kevin Durant is pretty good.
