Tatum is a top 5 NBA regular season player. I don't think he has yet proven himself to be a top 5 level player in the postseason, in part because he rarely has been put in a situation where he had to be for most of his career and because some of the things that make him a top 5 regular season player don't necessarily translate in the playoffs. He's very difficult to rank compared to other top guys.

 

He's a top 5 most boring guy in the league too

 

Tatum's ceiling isn't top 5 or even top 10 potentially and that's what we are judging guys on in the postseason when things like durability and reliability can get (mostly) taken out of the equation outside of extreme examples like Kawhi

lucky for him he's on a team with a bunch of top 75 type players where you typically don't need 1 guy to elevate his game to top 10 level to win

 

Paul Pierce 2.0

 

I think that's a pretty rough comparison. Pierce was pretty good as a closer and in big moments.
