There is a 0% chance I would ever say yes to that, that would be worth storming the Staples center over
But what if you were a self-appointed basketball savant who hated LeBron because he tortured your franchise for a decade?
"Are we sure the West is better than the East??" uh yes. Next question. glad Zach didn't budge on that stupid take. One of the Ringer blog boys would've dropped to their knees instantly for that
it was just him coping over the Celtics not even making the ECF. It was just too much of a gauntlet you see!
but you don’t get it, the Knicks beat the 60 win Celtics. That makes it equivalent to the early 2010s SEC damnit
i'm traveling so behind on my bs pod listening but good god at ryen's "maybe it's like the tariffs" example was moronic
Finally list to the tom cruise draft. That was great with the exception of Amanda somehow finding a way to play a victim on a movie draft podcast
she posts like a resist lib despite being a great podcaster. nothing wrong with posting like that, it is just funny.
Think of the resist lib reply guys that got famous during the first Trump term. Jeff Tiedrich, Brooklyn Dad - DEFIANT. Andor is essentially a show about a guy who becomes increasingly violently radicalized against the fascist regime. I like her but I don’t think Joanna is going to be laying down her life for the cause anytime soon.
It appears Reddit and other social media has latched onto this, so I fear that it will get toxic. But here she is again, resist posting and patting herself on the back for not shopping at target lol. Some people just do too much on social media. It isn’t a big deal. But I probably would not tweet victory laps about cutting target out of my life.
Yeah I think it’s pretty well accepted that we can all try to cut our rampant consumption of shit we don’t need and try to direct our dollars to better areas, but it’s not like the choices for most of what we have to buy is that great.
Sports betting money completely props up the sports podcast industry and I’m a consistently conflicted consumer. no such thing as ethical consumption I guess fucking hell
the illegal markets could never come up with something as creative as Bill’s “Tail or fade?” special bet
I do like the disdain Ryen has for the gambling reads. He could not give less of a fuck. Zach Lowe obviously isn’t a gambler / spread / over under guy, but he does sell the reads well. His voice spikes in excitement when he mentions certain betting options
It does seem like it needs to be reigned in a little bit. People are free to make their own decisions obviously but being able to do it from your phone so easily is kind of a problem. My friend's wife bets bad parlays on a regular basis. She doesn't even like sports really. It's just giving money away
I think Bill implied that Boston would have beaten Indiana without Tatum as long as they had Porzingis. Not a chance This was kind of a salty one. Not my favorite
Ryen is incredibly dry and often makes jokes without providing the ref for context. Second pod now I’ve heard him refer to the David Lee Roth “you got school” story. I only knew what he was talking about bc I’d heard Hader tell it on (I think) Conan recently. Great episode and guest btw.
It’s so weird that Pablo Torre is getting so much hate from the old media types and even from the BS subreddit. Boston sports mafia mad as hell.
Bill is still mad Tatum didn't win MVP last Finals because he knows people will hold it against him, the same way Ryen resents that Curry doesn't have 4 Finals MVPs because he knows people hold it against him too. "The best player on the team should win MVP no matter how they play!" is such a lazy argument. Not to mention Bill saying "that's how it works in the Super Bowl! The QB always wins!" when we have Super Bowl MVPs Cooper Kupp, Malcolm Smith, Von Miller, Julian Edelman, etc in recent memory
