evidently the voting for ECF MVP was 4-3. A) that is very close; and B) that's a tiny number of voters
Pretty sure there is a podcast where they were both lobbying for AD as FMVP in 2020, but mocked the NBA because it was “inevitably gonna go to LeBron.”
this is all very weird, but I did find it odd Bill went so hard at Pablo. Not just cracking a joke, but kind of calling him out in a manner that seemed super aggro. Don't come after his precious Patriots, I guess!
Bill has been adamant for 15 years that Gasol should've won FMVP over Kobe because of 1 game even though the media/public narrative going into game 7 was whether Kobe would win FMVP win or lose. That's the funny part about the Iguodala/Curry MVP discussion as well, all the talk in that 2015 series was if LeBron should win FMVP no matter the result. Nobody was even talking about Curry in the moment. Iggy winning was pretty much the NBA media's way of complementing LeBron without giving it to a losing player because "just think, Iggy had to GUARD LeBron! How hard is that??" I don't think we'll ever see a losing player win FMVP again
I was talking about Curry winning MVP. I'm not as mad about it as Russillo a decade later but it was always dumb he didn't win that year.
My favorite exchange between Van and Bill was like "It's crazy how many good players come out of the south" "Yeah I wonder why"
They forbid the Rockwell meme on the bs subreddit and we are getting some solid internetting. Comments to this post have me rolling
the coffee one will never not make me laugh. Almost died when Bill pulled it out in the Meet The Parents Rewatchable casting what if part
yep. Remember when Bill tried throwing cold water on the Brady/Belichick reporting that Seth Wickersham did (that all ended up being true)
So Bill didn’t even listen to Torre’s pods before inviting him on? Bill really struggled in this episode. Pretty clear he was just mad about someone going after belichick and had to back track by bringing him on and “squashing the beef” after providing some minimal pushback at the top.
It's weird no matter what the conversation was because his sound bite was about Torre going on a tour of other peoples' shows and pods talking about his reporting, and then... he brought Pablo on his pod to talk about it?
Yeah the moment Bill said “I was just kinda turned off by the media tour… which I guess I am now apart of,” it all kind of clicked into place. Torre may be an odd bird but I clearly understand why this is a compelling story based on Belichick’s lifelong schtick and persona, his fallout of the nfl, his current position at UNC, and the general coverage surrounding maybe the greatest coach in history becoming the type of guy that gets ensnared by 19 year olds. Felt unnecessary for him to stand up for his reporting on the story when Bill’s critiques were weak as hell.
the media reaction to this story and how clickworthy it is for normal people is the only explanation needed for this
Bill comes full circle on his own. “I didn’t understand why you did this….also, I’m worried about Belichik and idk what’s going on with him”. Bill is mentally a 14 year old sports fan.
You can take that even further. IF this was about a non Boston head coach, especially if it was a rival team, the fucking Ringer would’ve been doing deep dive reporting on it.
there is something wholesome about Bill being super rich and successful but still absolutely melting down about his favorite sports teams
simmons was clearly just shooting from the hip when he threw out that barb and then had to retrofit a completely incoherent explanation having not even listened to the pods lol but also how many times does torre need to mention that his podcast is peabody award winning
“Met her on a plane” isn’t passing the sniff test. That’s one situation where I think the rumors are true
What are the rumors? Haven’t really paid much attention to an old guy with young girlfriend. Pretty common in Newport.
that she was escorting and Bill basically said leave the lifestyle for me and I’ll make it worth your while. Allegedly.
I was more put off by how many times Pablo repeated his show is meant to be weird and niche. Ok dude, we get it.
To be fair, he was put in the bizarre position of coming onto Bill’s pod to defend his own podcast and work.
listened to about 15 minutes of that segment while making dinner last night will not be going back to finish
