Especially when he's the first one to call those teams out when those blow up trades don't pan out. I get that Ja is a mess of complications right now with how the last 3 years have gone to where you can argue everyone might just need a break, but I don't understand how anyone would advocate Memphis trading JJJ at this stage of his career at age 26.
And he gives no thought to the night to night feelings of fans. As a Cavs fan the regular season was great. Had a lot of fun nights watching them, had a lot of fun mornings listening to podcasts of people telling me my teams is awesome. I get it they didn’t perform, but the championship or bust is old. Vernon kept hammering the point that they were 3 games away from the 3 seed and bill wants to blow that up with JJJ and Ja. So they can miss out on a lottery pick and suck for ever. No thank you
If you can only have fun when your team is a legitimate title contender, you should quit following sports. Ringz culture is so fucking stupid
If I could only have fun with my teams as title contenders, I’d have jumped in front of a train by now Also: Joe House. Get some fucking help man.
Got fucking drunk playing golf and didn't drink any water and ended up in the ER taking 8 bags of fluids through 2 separate IVs. His kid was with him for all this.
that's tough. so was the segment kind of jokey, or did Bill give him an intervention? I found this to be a skippable pod, so I did not listen.
Bill was laughing at him and then Vernon was like wait you had your kid with you when this happened and they kinda murmured and moved on
I've only seen a few small clips of the pod, but Vernon shredded Simmons on the Grizzlies stuff. Best part was the "You said Bane is the exact kind of player who can play in this Finals. I watched him play OKC this year in the playoffs and he went 20-72 and couldn't dribble against any of them." Damn. "Desmond Bane has gotten more love in the 3 days since this trade than he's gotten in the last 5 years" was a good line, too.
not really sure someone getting swallowed up by the best defense in many years is a great point. no one from Memphis covered themselves in glory. I think he is a very solid piece. also, Bane has gotten more love in 3 days than in the last five years because people don't really spend much time talking about one the smallest markets in sports, unfortunately.
More people should talk about Bane somehow threading the needle of having insanely jacked arms and also being a great shooter. Not a common combo.
He didn't mean it to say that Bane sucks. His point was that people don't really watch small markets like Memphis much and so now people who weren't watching him for 5 years are going over the top praising him because it's a good trade for Orlando. And I think that's a fair point.
I guess, but pretty much the entire NBA is trying to fill out teams by acquiring wings who can shoot like Bane. So when a young team with a budding superstar nabs one, I can understand why it is getting over discussed when we have 2 days between these games. But yes, a lot of people are probably talking out of their ass about Bane given how little Memphis gets put on TV.
Bill has always valued future assets over competing in the near term and I’ve never understood it. But I’ll keep listening to that garbage.
Peter Vescey would be a dick from time to time, but David Stern would NEVER stand for having the league’s most prominent media personality threaten star players like he’s Suge Knight
it’s the Boston mentality that winning titles isn’t enough, you have to do it in a way where everybody in the media can pat you on the head and tell you how you’re such a special smart boy for the way you reached the destination as well
Lol. That's not how valuations work. He definitely knows better too, which makes his mad even more hilarious.
I think he’s trying to convince dumb people that the franchises are actually identical in value if you strictly look at the money changing hands.
my lord dick measuring the size of a property you dont own against the size of another property you dont own
“He’ll just have multiple grills on the oven going!” - published author William Simmons on Rick Carlisle’s coaching strategy
The amount of Celtics talk on this podcast was incredible. and Zach and Rob wanting nothing to do with Lebron minute was pretty funny.
Bill on the Ace train and saying a buncha shit in conflict with draftniks and various beat guys. Things like not dragging Rutgers to the tourney and refusing to workout for teams would normally be big red flags for Bill. If I didn’t know better I’d think he got word the Celtics were trading up for him.
Gotta say I expected more time on the Durant trade but bill needed more time reflecting on what the Halliburton injury means for Tatum’s legacy I guess.
I hurt myself rolling my eyes when Bill asked Zach if this was OKC's first or second title. I knew exactly that he was doing the second he asked.
just doesn't seem like Bill's heart is in it anymore when it comes to Durant now that it's been clear for years that KD is 0 threat to LeBron's legacy
Bill: "You know...do you know Vudu?" Russillo: "...the?" Bill: "it turned into Fandango, its like a streaming TV/movie service" Russillo "...I thought you meant the dark arts." this is what keeps me coming back
Yeah “he’s a Danny guy”. Ace is horrible finishing at the rim which is concerning. For a 6-9ish guy. Never gets and easy shot and hardly sniffed pull up 3s. He was lower on Ace 3 weeks ago when he knew even less about his game (hadn’t yet watched YouTube highlights).
Ryen sucks when he's the third person on a pod. He's constantly making "jokes" under his breath while other people are talking
Beginning of Ryguy pod saying the Celtics might flip Simons. Holding out hope the Celtics move some guys, blow things up and draft Ace Bailey making this all the more funny.
