In the DHwaV pod, Bill saying he’s waiting until CR is a divorced alcoholic to do The Hunt for Red October was gold, as was Van and CR winding him up about the Lakers titles and valuation.
I don't like that he puts huge emphasis on points that don't make very much sense. Maybe I just don't know ball
As much as we joke about horny Bill, I feel like the After Hours pod is rightfully horned up given how insanely hot Linda Fiorentino and Rosanna Arquette were in that movie.
Bill acting like the Lakers losing Finney-Smith is like the Warriors losing KD. Am I missing something here? DFS is fine but I wouldn’t wanna pay him that kind of money at 32, let alone 36
agreed. He’s a big body and is just streaky enough of a shooter to still be dangerous, but can’t create his own shot and is a bit overrated as a defender. Hes also a good friend of Luka, so that might be something to watch.
Bill talking rockets having too many assets then immediately pivoting to how he can’t figure out the team for the lebron trade. He’s clearly finally coming to Houston, sports guy.
The Lakers chose to play 5 players for an entire half of a playoff game a couple months ago because the coach did not think any of the other players were capable of helping them for a single minute. Finney-Smith was one of those 5 players. Losing him seems bad, even if I'm of the opinion he's kind of overrated.
Bill calling the Cavs a winner for not overreacting was pretty funny summary “O we didn’t win the title we gotta blow it up”. Isn’t that his gig?
Such a good episode. The original 3 talking about something at the level of a Jaws 2 movie is elite stuff
Pocket Casts app is usually pretty good. Bill has been going youtube-only for the first few hours more and more frequently though
One of the funniest ones they have one done. Didn’t disappoint. Jaws pod they did seven years ago is still my favorite all-time Rewatcheable episode.
Would rather hear Van and Charles talk about the Superman movie than bill being sanctimonious about it despite some of the horrid fucking movies he will do a Rewatchable on
F1 was fine but it was pretty cheesy and had some average acting performances. Racing stuff was generally fun but don’t really understand making a pod out of it.
It wasn't really that bad. Bill said he's not going to see it because superhero movies are dumb because he's not interested in things that aren't grounded in humanity or whatever like James Bond sequels. Van and Charles said that's dumb and that superhero movies are basically the exact same stories as the sports Bill watches and obsesses over. They tell him Superman is awesome and he should see it. They compare Superman to Jokic. Bill says he'll go see it. Then they talk about the last 20 years of superhero movies and Bill pretends the peak of the superhero movie era was the late 2000s instead of the late 2010s.
The creative, but not commercial, peak was the late 2000s. Dark Knight, Iron Man and Hellboy 2 all came out in 2008. I wish we could extend the window to X-Men 2 in 2003 and the GOAT of the genre, Spider-Man 2 in 2004.
Working my way through The Big Picture's top 25 movies of the century and listened to the Oppenheimer episode yesterday. Amanda's "I like the movie, I just don't have anything positive to say about it" routine is so tiresome.
Inside Llewyn Davis is the Coen brothers pick instead of O Brother or No Country? What the fuck? I don’t want to justify that by listening to hear the reasoning. That’s just fucking moronic.
I randomly listened to the Jurassic world midnight boys podcast and it fucking went off the rails when Van pulled out the picture of him and 2 white wonen and talked about how hot he looked. I laughed out loud multiple times
I listened. They’re just way up their own asses. Amanda “I love every crappy Nancy Myers Movie” Dobbins just doesn’t like westerns and Sean gets all in his feelings about the tortured artists, and they just decided to zag. Pretending that it’s a better movie than No Country and barely mentioning O Brother except to say ILD is a better Odyssey movie… they’re jokers.
