Bill will kiss his ass and then go back to making fun of him whenever JackO is on
Things got even more weird when Simmons brought up Jeffrey Epstein, not knowing that Gladwell's contact info was found in Epstein's address book and that Gladwell is listed on the flight logs for Epstein's plane. You could tell Gladwell did not want to go there. I wonder if his Paterno take is some kind of defense against his association with Epstein.
wait gladwell was really Epstein's buddy?
Can't really say how well they knew each other, but they knew each other well enough for his contact info to be in Epstein's black book. He took a domestic flight with a group of people to Seattle on Epstein's plane, which he has admitted to. It's most likely nothing, I'm much more concerned with people who flew to Epstein's island, but it's still an interesting tidbit and pretty hilarious that Simmons brought it up. I'm sure Gladwell started sweating a bit.
Was Bill contributing to the conversation about it? Or just letting him go unchallenged? I can't imagine Simmons paying a whole lot of attention to that back when it happening or being knowledgeable about it at all.
I didn't listen to it and don't plan to. Just curious.
I love Bill’s “If i were a GM I’d invest in the o-line” idea. NFL GM’s should look into that.
words I want banned from all future BS Podcasts:
To be fair on his podcast with jack o earlier this week he deleted all the patriots and AB talk
because it was probably 20 mins of him cackling and being arrogant about a potential rapist and he's terrified of getting "cancelled" by the millennials he employs to write Buzzfeed knock off articles. He never took a stand on AB so this "he needed to go" stuff is all bullshit.
Love one of the replies asking him how many points his "he needed to go" tweet scores in the Fantasy Pandering League
Yea interesting the first time he said it was after he was gone. Way to take a stand
said he didn't want to comment until he knew more info? what more do you want?
Spicy replies lmao
maybe he'll finally go in for a change on Sunday night (doubt it)
So, I don't listen to the BS Podcast and Bill doesn't write anymore, so pretty much all my Simmons content comes from the Rewatchables and Twitter.
Is he always this fucking dumb now?
Hmm, executing one play from the 4-yard line or going 60 yards in 20 seconds with no timeouts. Which scenario has a greater chance of producing a touchdown?
Yes, Bill, they should have just called the touchdown play. It's so easy!
Yes, he's pretty much always a dumbass now
Bill has always had this weird thing where he thinks almost every coach terrible, and it's especially bad in football because he thinks Belichick being his team's coach makes him an expert.
easy to see why Simmons is such a fan
Halfway through the latest Russillo pod with Chris Long. Still think Long is a weak guest and should be on every couple of months instead of every week.
Surprisingly they seem to not have much chemistry together. Long either doesn’t recognize when RR throws a friendly jab his way, or is irritated and just ignores it.
A lot of his game breakdowns are reading off games stats. He doesn’t really provide insight that an average fan couldn't come up with on their own.
And i don’t think RR is really feeling when Long goes on asides. Like talking about the amount of mono in Jacksonville because of the pool at their stadium? Or wondering how many times people have crapped in the pool. Just really odd takes.
Shawshank Redemption rewatcheable drops today. Been waiting for that one.
Bill's pod yesterday with Alan Sepinwall talking about how 1994 was for TV was great. So many great shows starting or on at that time.
Billy Bob was pretty good too right after Sepinwall.
Yeah i just can't get through them anymore. Bummer because I have always liked Chris and I am a huge Ryen fan. But Chris just isn't that great of an analyst and isn't funny either.
I think your problem is you're listening to Ryen Russillo
Bills Nick Saban take is so bad.
"I was dubious of the Browns going into the season" - guy who bet the over on the Browns season win total and spent $50 on Nick Chubb in his fantasy auction
and was all in on baker
I'm down to just the Guess the Lines pod now
he's ramped up the Boston-blowing to 11 and the rest of his takes are born from pure ignorance
Different strokes for different folks i guess. I like him okay when he does a solo pod or has other guests on. I liked him and Sir Rudy on espn too.
Chris Long is just awkward to listen to. Hard to put a finger on exactly what i don’t like about him but he’s mostly boring to listen to about 85% of the time. Occasionally he’ll have an interesting story (like his story about getting caught with paper in his gloves for a longer reach at the combine) or take, but mostly he’s not that interesting. To me anyways.
Yeah i could’ve sworn he had a “i worry about Cleveland because they’re the classic overhyped preseason team, but I’m buying into them” take in one of his pods. May have been on the fantasy pod with Matthew Berry.
I wish there was a way to easily search for podcast segments.
I enjoyed that hot take a lot actually.
one of my favorites to unleash on this board i must say
enjoyed it. Wished his dad wasn't on it, but since it is a sentimental movie, I don't really care.
Haven’t had a chance to listen it. Was hoping for him, Chris Ryan and Fennessey but I will take a Shawshank pod even with his dad. The last 4-5 movies haven’t been any I really enjoy.
Who doesn’t enjoy Beverly Hills Cop?
That was the one I liked the most but I prefer Cop 2 and Coming To America as far as Eddie movies go.
I put Trading Places over it too, but it’s a very good movie - and was the last Rewatchables before Shawshank.
I listened to it and it was good. Butch Cassidy pod wasn’t bad but I didn’t make it through all the way of Gone Girl, Fatal Attraction and Do The Right Thing.
This is probably the most enjoyable article they've had in a year
30 minutes into Shawshank and it's really good. Bill's dad isn't trying to take over it and is fine on there. Next to Major League, this is my favorite movie they have done.
Politics discussion at the end was so painful.
and bill referring to Lars Ulrich as the Metallica drummer he was surprised they featured so much was classic
like twenty minutes into the Klosterman pod and it's so bad
i can deal with old man sports takes but his relentless reactionary takes on basically everything else and it being the only thing he wants to talk about is leading to lots of skipped pods
especially when he creates a perfectly safe space of friendlies who cater to it
I dont think it was that bad. Once it got to politics I skipped it but I know what I am getting with Bill. I go to Bill for sports takes and 80's, 90's pop culture. I like his pods because they are light usually and thats usually been his bread and butter.
Which is why I completely skipped the Klosterman pod
I get it. I skip all the pods with Sal because NFL talk is boring to me and I dont care how they did betting or fantasy wise.
I want more Sal. He's so great
I avoid Mallory Rubin because her vocal fry is soooooo bad
Mal is my favorite person at the Ringer besides Bill.
Bill and Chris Vernon are at the bottom
I read that with upward inflection
Mal is good
