he almost always does that. Usually does the travel pod episode and has the author of a history themed book on the pod once or twice a year during the offseason when there’s nothing going on in sports. He’s apparently very into history and been doing stuff like this for the past few years
Kinda funny how BS tried to dunk on Pablo’s reporting on the belichick situation and now just a few weeks / months later, his reporting led to the NFLPA executive director resigning Lloyd Howell resigns from his role as NFLPA Executive Director, per a statement from Howell released by the NFLPA:— Jourdan Rodrigue (@jourdanrodrigue.bsky.social) 2025-07-18T02:50:09.006Z
o brother, no country, and llewyn davis are all 5* classics in my book so i don’t mind the least celebrated of the three getting a little shine
Amanda basically blew off O Brother at the end. Said she doesn’t like it when Clooney tries so hard to be funny.
Weird moment on the pod yesterday where Bill said something about how he didn't understand why Colbert wouldn't try to make it work by cutting the show down from like 175 to 10 employees and he took a salary cut. So at least Ringer employees know where both he and they stand if the going gets tough.
10 employees running a late night television show? lol wut. Colbert has fuck you money, why wouldn't he just step down and do something else at that point?
remember how pissed he got at Chris Connolly for having the audacity to try and keep Grantland afloat after Bill departed?
I found the part I was talking about. I was wrong in saying he said didn't understand Colbert doing it. He actually said he didn't understand CBS not going to him with that idea.
Belloni was talking about it on his own pod. They had experimented with the idea of a stripped down show and you basically end up with John Oliver. Plus apparently Paramount has been selling properties left and right, and the Ed Sullivan Theater is probably going to go soon as well. I'm sure Colbert being a thorn in Trump's side when Paramount needs a merger approved didn't help
if Colbert wanted to do a straight-forward and minimalist political desk show, he would not be doing that for CBS 5-nights a week in the late night slot. There is a reason similar shows are on Comedy Central or HBO
Ryen also can't resist the urge to zag when a bunch of loud jackasses in Twitter comment sections agree about something It's like when a dog sees a squirrel
I only remotely paid attention to him and this is always how he came across to me. You could tell he had that infowars dog in him.
so I'm sure haralabob is a trad guy with a bunch of kids and a wife right? odd to mention crypto nihilism without touching on gambling interesting
There's no chance Bill got through a 2.5 hour rewatchables on Brokeback Mountain without saying at least 2-3 problematic things.
I really loved that movie when I saw it senior year in high school, wonder how well it holds up. Zero chance I listen to Bill Simmons to form any opinion
i'm really digging Lowe's pods with other ringer personalities. don't give a shit about the mets and hardly care about non-mariners baseball but i enjoy mets corner with sean. liked him with jo the tv girl. excited about him on the rewatchables. and, obviously, pretty much all nba talk with him is superior.
