Final season marathon on Nuvo TV right now. Not sure how that channel has the syndication rights but whatever. GOAT series finale airing in a few hours.
Show didn't receive near enough award nominations. I know Chiklis won a few and CCH Pounder got nominated once, but Goggins deserved multiple nominations and Karnes/Anthony Anderson probably deserved one too. But the biggest snub is Forrest Whitaker. I absolutely hated Cavanaugh and all he was trying to do was take down obviously dirty cops.
I don't think there's ever been a show that managed to get so much out of three events (Crowley, the Money Train, Lem)
Series finale blew me away, I didn't watch as it was airing. Discovered the show later and binge watched the entire series in like a month. One of my top 3 favorite shows of all time.
Definitely agree. I've been wanting to do a rewatch while at work since I can usually bang out 6-7 episodes of a show while working, but I was sad to realize Amazon removed it from their Prime streaming.
Just watched Family Meeting. I'd forgotten how fucking powerful it is. Just an amazing end to an amazing show.
Wanted to drop these two links in here in case anyone ever has some time to kill. The Sepinwall one is lengthy but offers some great insight, and the first link (which came out yesterday in the wake of the Mad Men finale) is just straight up fact. http://grantland.com/hollywood-pros...t-the-shield-had-the-best-final-episode-ever/ http://sepinwall.blogspot.com/2008/11/shield-shawn-ryan-post-finale-q.html
its been so long i dont remember much about this series other than i loved it and the series finale or last few episodes were some of the most intense shit ive ever seen on tv. so good.
Spoiler Ronnie getting arrested is seriously the most bummed I have ever been watching a TV show. Lem getting killed might be second. I miss this show so much.
I start every new series with the hope that it will be as good as The Shield. That hasn't happened yet but I hold out hope.
Seriously? Spoilers after like 6 years? Spoiler I think abut this all the time, who got it worse: Lem or Ronnie. You have to think getting killed is worse especially given the circumstances surrounding the murder but Ronnie will have to live out every single day of his life in prison. Plus Ronnie was really an innocent in so many of the things he took the fall for. He was really on the outside looking in when it came to the Strike Team. While Lem knew exactly what he was doing and only has the tremendous remorse when he had to deal with a lot of the repercussions.
Michael Jace, the actor who played Julien, was found guilty of second degree murder today. He killed his wife back in 2014.
Spoiler I agree with Ronnie on the outside looking in but disagree that Lem knew what he was getting himself into. If anything, I think that Lem's death corrupted Ronnie more and strengthened his with Vic as Vic's relationship with Shane deteriorated.
Spoiler Ronnie planned the money train robbery for one, that alone puts him in the very from innocent category. Lem did plenty of shit too, he just felt bad about it
Strike Team Complicity Rankings, go... 1) Vic 2) Shane 3) Ronnie 4) Lem 5) Tavon 6) Kevin Hiatt 7) Julian 99) Terry Crowley
Spoiler Lem didn't know what he was getting into when he participated in robbing the Armenian mob? I don't think Lem was a dipshit. Only when they got greenlit and they started getting investigated did Lem get cold feet. I agree about the relationship between Ronnie and Shane with Vic. I think a lot of it was because Ronnie always thought the Armenians killed Lem and he started to identify with Vic more in wanting revenge and going over the line for it. Shane, on the other hand, knew what really happened and he was wracked with guilt where Vic felt none. Spoiler I understand what you're saying about Ronnie but in his mind he was doing what he was doing "for the greater good", robbing the mob, robbing drug dealers but still maintaining his duty to keep the "real criminals" off the street. Ronnie, and Lem also, wasn't in on the Terry Crowley murder and obviously wasn't in for Lem's murder. He always had a sense of innocence while still being wrapped up in a lot of the criminal behavior of the strike team.
I remember watching the pilot and thinking it was the most badass thing I'd ever watched on TV (I didn't have HBO)
I've been trying to watch it for a little bit, but it was never on Amazon prime or Netflix. As soon as someone told me it was on Hulu I signed up and started watching.
Started a rewatch recently. Money Train just went down. Show still kicks ass in case anyone was wondering.
David Aceveda just put a dick in his mouth and now Hulu informs me that all the episodes are expiring. Time to hunker down and skip my brother's wedding this weekend to find some answers.
Totally forgot that Lem torched $2.8 million. I love this show so much. I feel like the term edgy has trite but The Shield pushed the limits of decency so effortlessly and before it was the thing to do. I think we hit on how three big events permeate the entire series but it's been fun picking up on the smaller ones as well. Like Dutch strangling the cat to get into the mind of the monsters he's chasing, or Aceveda playing out rape fantasies. Everything on this show had a consequence.
Glenn Close was absolutely amazing on this show. And holy crap I forgot that legendary coach Jimmy Johnson appears randomly as a drunken prisoner rambling that Terry's the guy they're looking for and it somehow doesn't feel cheap or gimmicky at all.
Remember show being on, but was in middle school I believe and never got into. First thought, how did they get most of the content on TV back then?
I have to think that if Vic is still with ICE he’s not loving the whole detaining and gassing children part
I’ve never seen the CBS procedural SWAT and just assumed it was more episodic trash like NCIS or CSI but I just learned that not only is Shawn Ryan the creator, a certain Detective Steve Billings appears in two episodes. Of all the fucking shows to include in The Shield extended universe!
Just started this show. Somehow I never got around to watching it. Almost done with season 2. It’s awesome to see all of the SOA and Justified actors.
Shane thinking he could become Vic Lite and always fucking up was one of my favorite developments of the show
