Show debuted last August on USA as a limited series. DVRed it and never got around to starting it until this week. Show is really good for basic cable, kinda has a basic cable version of True Detective season 1 feel to it. Season 1 featured Bill Pullman and Jessica Biel as the stars. Metacritic score of 71, 8.0 by the users. Only eight episodes so it's a fairly quick watch. Was nominated for two Golden Globes: best TV limited series/TV movie and Biel nominated for best actress in a limited series/TV movie
Biel moves to executive producer for season 2 which premieres on August 1. Stars Pullman again with Carrie Coon and some kid from that recently canceled Alex, Inc. show
Binged all of season 1 the past two days. Really liked it. Actually only decided to watch it because I've been listening to a lot of Big Black Delta recently and I kept seeing comments on Youtube about their songs being in The Sinner and playing a significant part. Was a little worried after a few episodes that the show might taint "Huggin & Kissin" but ultimately the event wasn't purely evil as I was expecting. Not sure I'm going to watch season 2. Maybe once it's all aired and I'll just do a quick 2-day watch again. Aside from his desire to figure out what really happened with Cora, I didn't really enjoy Ambrose's story. His weird thing with that hooker and his whole nature thing seemed a little unnecessary.
Gunners Thanks for letting me know about this show. I really enjoyed it. Not to the "great" level for me, but still very good. I honestly didn't know Biel had those acting chops in her. Spoiler I liked how they didn't go with the whole "sex club" angle that was being hinted at during the season, and they included the younger sister in the reveal. Maybe I am spoiled by the excellent ending of a show like Season 1 of True Detective, but it just felt too neat of an ending. Basically everything was tied up in a bow, and the good guys won. How is Season 2 so far? It started recently, right?
Some things definitely didn't add up and conveniently came together, still was a big fan. I'm only like 15 minutes into season 2, watching a few other things first
Binged season 1 last night. I thought it was solid although you had to do quite a bit of suspending disbelief, especially when they kept letting her out of jail. That said, it was definitely entertaining and kept my attention throughout.
Season two is really over the place. It’s so convoluted and the murder of the people seems like an aside. The dad raping the friend and it being his kid was obvious. This season was just a mess.
Yep. Feels all over the place. Tries to follow too many storylines that don’t make sense and change the story. We still finished it because we liked the first season, but season 2 really struggled.
